Welcome to another Top 22 post. Monday we began by looking at the analytics to discover the 22 Top Sellers at DFMD in 2022. And yesterday I sifted through all of the outfits I wore in 2022 to determine my top 22 favorite outfits. But today we’re swinging back over to YOU. These are the top 22 blog posts that women like you read the most this year at Dressed for My Day. See if any of these are among your personal favorites. In fact, you may have first found me here at DFMD through one of these posts!
Now the truth is that I actually have older blog posts that continued to rank in the top 20 this year. Those are called evergreen posts because they continue to attract readers who are searching for information through search engines such as Google or Bing. But in this list I’m sharing the top 22 blog posts that were published this year. Doing this research helps me to see what kinds of posts attract new readers as well as what resonates with my faithful readers.
From the analytics that I see here, I’ve already made quite a list of blog post topics for 2023. And I think you will like them. But for now, let’s take a stroll down memory lane and see the top 22 blog posts from 2022.
#22 – Bridal Shower Dress for the Mother of the Bride
You’ll notice there are several blog posts in the top 22 that have to do with being the mother of the bride. Since my daughter got married in 2022, I posted several. But because I’ve taken note of the popularity and I see additional angles that could be covered, I’ll undoubtedly publish at least one or two more mother of the bride and/or groom posts in 2023.
#21 – My Entryway Makeover with Havenly
Don’t worry. There’s no danger of Dressed for My Day becoming a home interiors website. I just don’t have what it takes. But I did enjoy pivoting and sharing My Entryway Makeover with Havenly. It was a great service and I really benefited from my consultation.
#20 – Resort Worthy Travel Capsule from Chico’s
Unlike in years past, I didn’t do a single paid collaboration with Chico’s this year. But because I know I have readers who enjoy their styles, I did share outfits from there several times. So it didn’t really surprise me at all that this Resort Worthy Travel Capsule from Chico’s fared well. Of course, I imagine visitors were searching for resort travel capsules and came across this one.
#19 – Mother of the Bride: Tips for Your MOB Dress
Choosing my mother of the bride dress was much more of an ordeal than when I selected my mother of the groom dress for some reason. I hope that this post has been helpful to women going through that process.
#18 – How to Try the Fall Fashion Trends
As fall fashions were beginning to flood my house during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I shared How to Try the Fall Fashion Trends. I think this post offered some great tips.
#17 – What I Wore for a Week of Wedding Planning
I think What I Wore for a Week of Wedding Planning is the only daily outfits post to make the top 22. But I know many readers say the daily outfits posts are some of their favorites. I do plan to continue those in 2023.
#16 – Fall 2022 Women’s Wardrobe Base Layers
I did my wardrobe essentials posts a little different this fall, offering a capsule wardrobe and this Fall 2022 Women’s Wardrobe Base Layers post. I’m not sure how I’ll move forward with these in the future. But I do know that women like to know the essentials.
#15 – My 20 Favorite Fashion Purchases of 2021
In early January of this year I shared My 20 Favorite Fashion Purchases of 2021. I’ll be doing the same thing tomorrow for 2022. And I’ll also share my biggest regret purchases later. These posts really help me to take inventory of my spending habits and redirect my wardrobe building efforts.
#14 – My Summer Wardrobe Essentials
Like I said, we all like to know we have the essentials. So it doesn’t surprise me that My Summer Wardrobe Essentials came in at number fourteen on our list of the 22 top blog posts of 2022.
#13 – 5 Tips to Help You Stretch Your Wardrobe
During the doldrums of winter I sometimes share outfit posts full of pieces that are already sold out. For instance, most everything in my closet right now is sold out, due to great Christmas sales. So I like to share those classic outfits but also offer either styling tips, wardrobe building tips or some other helpful information. This was one of those posts.
#12 – My 50 Favorite Spring Outfits Lookbook
It’s kind of crazy that I even had 50 spring outfits to share in my My 50 Favorite Spring Outfits Lookbook. But when you share daily outfits, style posts and YouTube videos, I guess they mound up. I think I’ll be ready for spring soon. What about you?
#11 – Fall 2022 Fashion Colors Most Wearable for Women Over 50
We’re moving higher up into the list to some of my top drawing blog posts. These are generally posts that have titles that really resonate with searchers. Obviously Fall 2022 Fashion Colors Most Wearable for Women Over 50 resonated with a lot of women.
#10 – How to Wear a Classic Wardrobe and Look Modern
Here’s another one of those posts where I combined sold out pieces to share style tips and wardrobe building helps. I think How to Wear a Classic Wardrobe and Look Modern hits a lot of us where we live. Many of my readers love a classic wardrobe, but still want to look contemporary and relevant.
#9 –Fall Style Formulas – Splurge, Spend or Save
A lot of readers said they really enjoyed this style board based post and requested I do more. Unfortunately I forgot. Ha! Or else I just ran out of space on my content calendar. But I can definitely try to do more of these, especially incorporating the splurge, spend and save concept.
#8 – A Buildable Travel Capsule Wardrobe for the Frequent Tourist
I believe that A Buildable Travel Capsule Wardrobe for the Frequent Tourist is the only blog post in the list that is coupled with a video. I use to post on the blog every time I published a new video, but that was just too much work for me. But I had put so much effort and time into this concept that I wanted to make sure it was shared on both platforms.

Here are those essentials again. This time I was sharing the Spring Wardrobe Essentials. I failed to ever get a winter wardrobe essentials post up and I feel like it’s really too late now. What do you think?

This fall I attempted to create a a Modern Classic Fall Capsule Wardrobe. Indeed, many of these styles are still in my closet and I’ve really enjoyed wearing them.

This Comfortable, Classic Teacher Outfits from Kohl’s post is the only sponsored post in the bunch. I enjoyed working with Kohl’s this year. In fact, I have another post with them lined up for January.
#4 – 5 Wardrobe Staples that Never Go Out of Style
I enjoyed writing 5 Wardrobe Staples that Never Go Out of Style. This is another post where I shared items from my closet that were mostly unavailable. But since they are so classic I figured they are probably in many other women’s closets, too. Do you like posts like this or would you rather see clothing and accessories that are available for purchase?
#3 –Most Wearable Fall Fashion Trends for Women Over 50
I’ve always enjoyed participating in some of the trends, but I do think it gets a little tricky as we get older. So I wrote Most Wearable Fall Fashion Trends for Women Over 50 as I thought through the process of figuring out what trends seemed workable to me and which ones seemed a little iffy for the over 50 woman. Honestly, I feel myself starting to back away from more and more trends. So it will be interesting to see how much I continue to participate in them in the coming years.
#2 – How to Create Chic Coastal Grandmother Outfits
I think I was a little late discovering the whole coastal grandma trend. But as soon as I did I shared a video on the concept and then also published How to Create Chic Coastal Grandmother Outfits. Obviously a lot of women were researching this trend on search engines because this post has gotten over 80,000 views in just six months.
#1 – Fashion Trends Out of Style for Fall 2022
But the most popular blog post of 2022 by a landslide is Fashion Trends Out of Style for Fall 2022. This post received almost 225,000 views in less than five months. And it still to this day gets hundreds of views each day.
I will definitely be sharing a similar post for spring trends. And I’m sure I’ll refresh this one for next fall, too. I guess a lot of us are just as concerned that what we’re wearing is not out of style as we are with looking in style.

Blessed for My Day
I love what I do here at Dressed for My Day. It is a job and I generally put in about 50 hours per week at least. But it’s very rewarding and feels like such a gift from the Lord, even on the hardest days. Interestingly, the more successful this venture has become, the more work it is has required. Still, I love it. And I want to serve well and make this platform a place of excellence and quality.
But the thing that inspires me to work harder and more competently is positive feedback. Gratefully, I receive a lot of encouraging and kind feedback from my readers and viewers. It motivates me and drives me to produce better quality posts and serve you more consistently. On the other hand, criticism tends to shut me down, stifle my creativity and exhaust me. As I consider this it makes me want to offer that kind of gracious encouragement and positive feedback to other people, those who serve me. Who could you encourage today? You may be surprised at how much better kindness and appreciation motivates a server at a restaurant, a contractor doing a home repair for you or the person on the other end of the phone line. Let’s be women who help others achieve their goals through kindness and encouragement.

Reading your posts is such a fun part of my day! The entire “intensity” concept has helped me put a finger on why I just love certain outfits. Also, I bravely face that I am no longer wearing a certain piece b/c I simply do not enjoy it. I am more truthful with myself when I purchase. I would love to see a post on taking care of your garments, including the tools needed. This is inspired by my arch nemesis, the coastal grandmother shell from Talbots, which I would probably wear a couple of times a week if I could make the ruffle look pretty. Obviously, I am going about the wrong way.

My comment on today’s blog is, No. I don’t think it’s too late for a post on winter fashions. Granted, I’m a northerner, but there are at least eight more weeks of winter ahead (more like twelve for us) and I’d love some post-holiday outfits to brighten up the grey days ahead.

I do occasionally buy for my fantasy life and wear the fur-collared puffer vest to get a burger! Talbots has been my source for new clothing because it’s local, my style and I can try on for fit. I loved all these posts, Kay! I especially love the ones about new trends, and building a wardrobe. Putting the pieces together to mk a look that is flattering, current, and that reflects who I am is such a challenge! You are a huge help in that process. I personally don’t mind if the clothing items are no longer available, since I may buy a similar item from a retailer whose clothes fit me better. It’s the ideas and inspiration that are really helpfu to me.
