May 10, 2022

As we think about getting dressed for our days during these final few weeks of Spring, I thought I’d round up my favorite outfits of the season and share the collection. I always think it’s nice to have some outfit inspiration in a centralized place. I hope you enjoy my Favorite Spring Outfits Lookbook!

I’ll share these outfits in order of very casual to more formal. Of course, I live a pretty casual lifestyle, so you can expect this Spring Outfits Lookbook to be heavier on those. I’m not sharing a lot of detail about each outfit, but instead I’m linking you to the blog post, video or snapshot where you can learn more. You can also shop the outfits at those destinations.

Don’t forget you can always pin my images to your Pinterest boards. That’s a great way for us to share what we do here with other women who may also be interested. Thank you for sharing my posts on Pinterest and Facebook!

Very Casual Spring Outfits

Let's Go Outside!
Check out the original post for more details.

I love getting out and exploring the outdoors. Call me crazy, but I still like for my outfit to be coordinated and flattering. Of course, on days like these comfort and functionality are even more important. This outfit checks all the boxes!

Check out the original post for more details.

Besides the hiking outfit above, I guess jeans and a t-shirt is about as casual as I go. Even then I think it’s so easy to pull together a look like this simply by adding a style hack. The hack I used here is bookending my white jeans with a black tee and black sandals.

Check out the original post for more details.

Even when you opt for a graphic tee, you can pull the look together by adding some jewelry, layering on a cardi or jacket if needed and finishing off with great sneakers.

Casual Spring Jeans Outfits with Cardigans

Striped Tee with Cardigan
Check out the original video for more details.

I think cardigans have been somewhat replaced by jackets this year in popularity and trendiness. But I have enjoyed wearing this pretty blue cotton sweater over tees. This outfit is full of color, but still subtle.

See the original video for details.

I feel like the darker wash jeans, loafers, more streamlined cardigan and button front shirt make this cardigan outfit a little more elevated than the previous ones. Oh, and that belt definitely adds a little polish as well.

Casual Spring Jeans Outfits with Blazers

sneakers // similar t-shirt

I can’t seem to find a photo of this outfit other than on this phone graphic. Hahaha! But it was definitely a top 5 favorite earlier this spring. I remember coming out of Kroger and receiving the sweetest compliment on my attire from a young 30-something. Let me tell you, anytime I receive a compliment from a young woman like that I take note! Since I can’t find it anywhere, I’ll go ahead and share links to the sneakers and similar t-shirt. Those are the only pieces available. With similar items this outfit is so easy to duplicate.

What I wore Wednesday
Check out the original post for more details.

The outfit above is another that I received multiple compliments on from young women. Score!

t-shirt // sandals // earrings // blazer in other colors

We shot this outfit several weeks ago and immediately following the photo shoot the blazer sold out. So I never did show it as an outfit post. But I love how this column of black works under the oatmeal linen blazer.

Check out the original post for more details.

The graphic tee in the outfit above is interesting and adds a little color without bringing too much to the picture. This otherwise neutral outfit gave me a good opportunity to wear my blue mules.

Frame Jeans and Miller Blazer
Check out the original post for more details.

It’s a terrible mirror selfie, but I couldn’t leave this outfit out of the favorite spring outfits lookbook because it truly is one of my top five. I traveled by plane to and from Georgia in this outfit (spending unusually long hours in the airports!) and felt pulled together, stylish and very comfortable.

Styling a Plaid Blazer Later
Check out the original post for more details.

Here’s another casual spring outfit with that plaid blazer. It’s no longer available, but any plaid blazer will help you create a similar look. The keys are simply the solid tee, the blazer and the sneakers. You don’t have to do the rips in your jeans if that’s not your thing. And rolling up your blazer sleeves is definitely on trend. If your sleeves are too long you may need them taken up by a tailor another year, but not this one!

How I Dressed for My Day
Check out the original post for more details.

I love this white, black and grey look. While wearing a t-shirt with your blazer is still very on trend, these button collar knit tops are even more current. That grey one is from last year and not available, but I’m so glad I held onto it.

Check out the original post for more details.

Big, bold color is definitely trending this year. But the outfit above reminds us that neutrals always look stylish. I have loved combining grey with new pairings this year.

What I wore Monday
Check out the original post for more details.

Ahh, here’s the color! A small dose of a big color can go a long way.

Check out the original video for more details.

This elevated jeans outfit is another of my top five picks. I love the black and oatmeal beige combination. You could certainly swap in more casual shoes and handbag to knock it down a notch in dressiness.

Check out the original video for more details.

Here’s one more jeans and t-shirt look with a blazer. I’m sharing it here because I think the shoes and handbag definitely bump it up a notch in dressiness. But swap in sneakers and a crossbody and you have an equally stylish look with a more casual feel.

Casual Spring Outfits

Let’s move on to other casual jeans and pants looks without a blazer and then we’ll see some outfits with blazer and dress pants a little further down in the spring outfits lookbook.

Check out the original video for more details.

I’d say one of the biggest trends in jeans for spring and summer is natural colored denim. I love these natural colored modern ankle jeans from Talbots, but I’m seeing similar styles everywhere. I’d say they’re the new white and they definitely look more current than white.

Tonal Outfit
Check out the original post for more details.

Here’s a fun tonal look with those natural colored modern ankle jeans. Above you can see it with just the sweater. And I absolutely will wear it this way. I think it takes a little courage to wear a tone on tone look, but it’s very in style.

Tonal Look with Blazer
Check out the original post for more details.

But here it is worn as a column of color (or a column of neutral) with a fun lightweight blazer.

What I Wore Friday
Check out the original post for more details.

Here’s another simple but slightly more colorful look with those natural colored modern ankle jeans. Soon I’m sharing a “5 ways to wear natural colored jeans” post. Stay tuned!

Friday Afternoon
Check out the original post for more details.

After wearing the above outfit one day, I purchased those Naturalizer slides in black. So now I would probably swap those in. But I think the flesh colored shoe works here, too. I think that outfit is simple, but so chic.

Of course, I love just casual jeans and a lightweight cotton or linen sweater for spring, too.

Playful Touches
Check out the original post for more details.

I think the key to a jeans and sweater outfit is choosing a sweater in a 100% cotton or linen knit, or one that is a blend of those fibers and maybe silk, another natural fiber.

Simply chic Spring Outfit
Check out the original post for more details.

Casual Spring Chinos Outfits

Let’s see. I think I do have some outfits with other types of casual pants, too.

Comfortable Casual Spring Look
Check out the original post for more details.

In the outfit above I combined one of those lightweight summer sweaters with my favorite chinos and those retro sneakers. I was doing a lot of walking in Savannah that day. But you could wear your favorite sandals with a similar combo.

Check out the original video for more details.

A few of these looks, such as the chinos-tee-denim jacket outfit above, have never been shown here at Dressed for My Day. I’ve shown them in videos on my YouTube Channel. I love wearing chinos like the ones above and below.

Simple Spring Outfit
See the original post for more details.

The chinos above are a slightly more modern silhouette because they feature a straight leg and cropped length. They are very lightweight and so versatile. I’ve styled them much the same was as the darker khaki chinos above, but this time with espadrilles.

Check out the original post for more details.

Gauze shirts are really trending this spring and summer, too. You’ll even be able to wear the long sleeved ones through the summer as a swimsuit coverup or layering piece. That pink gauze shirt above is definitely a softer, more muted pink in real life. I just could not get that photo to show the color correctly to save my life. But I’ve also really enjoyed the similar pink short sleeve popover below. I loved how this pink worked with black.

How I Dressed Tuesday
Check out the original post for more details.

The next outfit features several pieces I’ve really enjoyed this spring.

How I Dressed Friday
Check out the original post for more details.

The stovepipe pants are a fairly new silhouette and they’re so versatile. Above you see how I went from working in my home office to getting out and about with just a change in footwear and the addition of a trench jacket.

Casual Spring Shorts Outfits

Let’s move on to the one pair of shorts I’ve posted so far.

Trailing Hibiscus Shorts
Check out the original post for more details.

I don’t wear shorts out just anywhere these days; I’m a little picky about where I go in them. But when I do wear shorts I like to make sure they fit well and flatter as much as possible. I like shorts with an inseam between 5-7″ for me. But to each her own!

Trailing Hibisicus Shorts
Check out the original post for more details.

Soon I’ll be sharing a post with 5+ ways to wear denim shorts this summer. But I love having a pair of pretty print shorts at my disposal, too. So fun!

Elevated Casual Spring Outfits

Let’s move on to some slightly dressier looks now.

Ivory Chinos
Check out the original video for more details.

Above I’m wearing those same chinos I styled a few outfits before, but I’ve swapped in slightly dressier shoes and a cashmere sweater. But I’ve still kept the look fairly casual with a denim jacket and chunky gold jewelry. The hat is a necessity for me these days.

Check out the original video for more details.

The outfit above features the same ivory ankle length chinos, but in a little more elevated outfit. Details like the scarf, belt, shoes and blazer add polish to the look.

Check out the original video for more details.

Similarly, the outfit above includes ankle demi boot white jeans I showed in a more casual look toward the top of the post. Adding in heels, a silk tank, dressier jewelry and a sharp blazer really elevates the outfit.

Check out the original video for more details.

Now the look above is not dressy. But I am wearing my nicer demi boot black pants, so I’ve put the photo here. Anyhow this is a good example of how you can also intentionally “dress down” pieces in your closet by using more casual accessories like this red crossbody, my black Converse sneakers and a denim jacket.

Check out the original video for more details.

But then above I wore the same striped top and demi boot pants with heeled sandals, a blazer and more conservative crossbody for a very different result.

Check out the original post for more details.

And then in the outfit above I swapped in a simple but colorful t-shirt for a yet different look.

Work Appropriate Spring Outfits

Check out the original video for more details.

Here I’ve worn those same demi boot black pants in a very different look. I’ve created a column of black – one of my favorite style formulas – and paired it with classy camel. This is one of my top five outfits. It’s a great look for work or more conservative events.

Duo Tone Outfit for Spring
Check out the original post for more details.

One more outfit with those black demi boot pants. Wow! I’ve worn/shown them a lot. I better link to these versatile demi boot pants. They also come in ivory and lavender and they’re available in a full range of sizes, including misses, petite and plus petite. I find them to run true to size. And they’re constructed from a rich 56% Cotton, 31% Polyester, 13% Spandex fabric. This oatmeal and black polished outfit is another in my top five.

Check out the original post for more details.

Here I’ve worn coordinating pants and blazer for a suited look. Notice my shoes and bag don’t match. They don’t have to. Nude shoes are always a good idea. And the navy bag works well with my navy suit. I like the way the gold chunky chain necklace works with the buttons on my blazer without looking overdone.

What I Wore to Church Sunday
See the original post for details.

Leather is not just for fall and winter. In fact it’s really trending for spring and even summer. This faux leather jacket over a column of navy creates a really nice work look.

Spring Outfits with Skirts and Dresses

Now we’ll move on to a few skirts and dresses.

Check out the original video for more details.

Actually it’s just one skirt I think. But I’m showing it a couple of ways.

Bangs and Highlights
pleated skirt // top // shoes (use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of heels at Ally) // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off)

This is the pleated skirt I’m challenging myself to style for all four seasons. You can see how I styled it for winter HERE. But I think I’ve already worn it several different ways for spring.

Pleated Skirt
Check out the original post for more details.

And that brings us to a few dresses. I’ve tried to add more color to my wardrobe through my dress choices this year. I thought that would be a good place to add color since these one and dones don’t really have to work with other pieces in my wardrobe. That said, one of my favorite dresses is this very neutral colored shirtdress.

Check out the original post for more details.

Unfortunately that shirtdress quickly sold out. But classic shirtdresses are everywhere right now since this nostalgic silhouette is definitely trending for the second year.

The rest of my dresses for this season feature a lot of color.

Easy Breezy Spring and Summer Dresses
Check out the original post for more details.

A casual dress is always a good option when you don’t want to wear pants or shorts but you still want to look relaxed. And maxi dresses are trending high again this year.

Easter Sunday Dress
Check out the original post for more details.

I love the vibrant colors in the knit dress above. And it works perfectly with my white blazer.

Boden Wrap Dress
Check out the original post for more details.

Wrap dresses are generally one of the most universally flattering silhouettes. For the most slimming look choose one in a solid, but bold prints are trending this year, too.

Ivory Bag
Check out the original post for more details.

This dress has a faux wrap ruching feature on the front. That’s another universally flattering option. While I generally like a shorter skirt, this ankle length is also on trend.

Check out the original video for more details.

And we’re wrapping up the Spring Outfits Lookbook with the dress I’m wearing to Abigail’s rehearsal dinner. I’m wearing the nude colored strappy sandals and simple jewelry with this ultra feminine dress. I’m putting this dress in my top five category, too. Even though that actually makes six!

Don’t forget to click through to the original posts if you need any shopping, sizing or styling information. I would say I’d monitor the comments and jump in with answers to your questions, but honestly this is wedding week. So I’m not sure how present I will be. I do appreciate you stopping in.

Blessed for My Day

I know that I can live with peace ruling in my heart if I will keep my mind stayed upon the Lord rather than allowing it to flit all over the place with the cares of the day. But that is easier done than said. I want to be a woman who is at peace rather than one who is fretful and anxious, but some days it is hard to keep my mind from filling with worries and concerns about things that I cannot really control.

I’ve learned that I can do several things to help me live my day in peace rather than anxiety. First I’m must begin my morning praising the Lord. When I struggle to begin those praises, I resort to the alphabet, naming a characteristic of God that begins with each letter. “Lord you are able. Lord your are the One who blesses me. Lord you are compassionate.” Etcetera. The more I remember and voice who God is, the smaller my concerns become. Or at least I begin to remember that I have a God who is bigger than anything I could worry over. That little exercise helps me to begin my day in peace rather than anxiety.

You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
    because he trusts in you.
Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock. ~ Isaiah 26:3-4

xoxo, Kay
