Are you heading back to the head of the classroom soon? Since my mom taught school for over 30 years, I have a special affinity for educators, and I love sharing teacher outfits at this time of year. Today I’m teaming up with Kohl’s to share a capsule wardrobe of ponte knit pieces perfect for teachers, but also great for other working women, too.

Teacher Outfits from Kohl's with Ponte Knit Pants

I think a capsule wardrobe that mixes and matches easily is key for busy teachers. It enables you to put together classic, no-fail outfits without overthinking things. I suggest choosing a couple of mixable neutrals, such as black and grey or brown and navy to be the base of your capsule wardrobe. Then you can add colors you enjoy with your tops and accessories.

Ponte Knit Pants and Pink Top

For this first easy outfit for teachers I simply paired dark heather grey tummy control ponte knit pants with a bright raspberry pink ribbed elbow sleeve tee. Both pieces come in additional colors, so you could choose the separates that work best for you.

Ponte Knit Pants for Teacher Outfits

Yes, these ponte knit pants are very much like yoga pants, but they have a nice heft to them and come in three different lengths and a full range of sizes. I ordered both the medium and large to try and I determined that my usual medium would be great for leisure or exercise, but sizing up helps these pants look more classroom appropriate and smart. So I’m wearing the size large in these photos.

Ponte Knit Pants and Loafers

I think loafers are such a smart choice, especially since these lug sole loafers are trending again this year. These loafers fit wonderfully true to size and also come in an on trend cream.

Ponte Knit Pants and Top

Easy separates like these ponte knit pieces are very relaxed and comfortable, but they’re also very on trend right now. We’re seeing a return to getting dressed for work and looking smart. But the current style calls for very relaxed and easy to wear garments that make you look confident and pulled together but also uncomplicated and comfortable.

Ponte Knit Pants and Blazer

For both outfits I wore my ponte knit relaxed blazer. I am so impressed with this blazer. In fact, I featured it in Wednesday’s video on How to Wear Wide Leg Jeans and Trousers. The slim fit and beautiful lines make it so versatile, working nicely with wide leg trousers or more flared silhouettes like these ponte knit pants. The jacket fits nicely true to size; I’m wearing a medium. It’s also available in other colors and prints. The blazer also comes in plus sizes. Oh, and there is a petite size, but only in the mocha frosting. Score!

Let’s check out the next piece of my capsule wardrobe for teachers.

Black Ponte Knit Skirt

I was thrilled when I found that Kohl’s had this ponte knit pencil skirt. I have tried on so many similar skirts and they all fit just too snug and body con for my taste. But this Nine West ponte knit pencil skirt skims the body comfortably and appropriately, and fits true to size. I’m wearing my usual medium.

Ponte Knit Pencil Skirt for Teachers

Depending on what you teach and your personal preferences, you may not want to wear high heeled pumps with this skirt. I pulled these from my closet. But I’ve selected several classic shoe choices from LifeStride to include in the shopping widget below. I especially like these classic pumps, these lower heeled pumps and these block heeled loafer pumps, all available in some wide sizes, too. I do know that teachers definitely need comfortable shoes!

Pink Top

I’d definitely suggest getting at least a couple of those ribbed elbow sleeve tees. They’re soft and stretchy, perfect for wearing alone or layered under a blazer or cardigan. In fact, I had hoped to show it under this cardigan, too, but it didn’t arrive in time for my photo shoot. I can tell you now, however, that the cardigan fits nicely true to size and works great with these pieces.

Pink Ribbed Top

I kept my jewelry simple for both of my teacher outfits, wearing just a layered necklace, gold hoops and a simple gold bracelet (similar bracelet). Don’t forget your sunglasses! You’ll need these if taking children out for recess is part of your work day. And my Nine West 2-piece tote set is perfect for carrying home papers to grade as well as your essentials.

Blazer

I’ve added other pieces to this capsule wardrobe for work in the shopping widget below. I’d definitely round it out with a pair of these slacks, this cardigan and one of these shells.

Blessed for My Day

If you ever question whether or not you are rich, stop counting the money in your bank account and instead number your blessings. Foremost among those blessings are things God has done in your life. Consider the numerous times He has miraculously answered your prayers, made a way when you thought there was no way, guided you through stormy seasons, sent people into your life who proved to be instrumental in your growth and joy. Can you add to that list the times He has spoken to your heart, whispered assurances over your anxious mind, provided the courage to move forward or gently held you back, preventing you from making a terrible mistake? Isn’t it amazing to look back over our lives and see the handiwork of God?

Even when we didn’t yet know or follow Him, He was there. And when we look back now we can see His fingerprints throughout our lives. Our stories are really just vignettes of His story. And when realize that His glory has been displayed through our hardships and our joys alike, we understand what a rich privilege it is to walk with Him. If you can look back over your life and count the blessings of God only to realize that they are too many to name, you are a rich woman indeed.

In the way of your testimonies I delight as much as in all riches. ~ Psalm 119:14

  1. Thank you for your Kohl’s post. I feel like they have good prices, great sales and service, and good quality. I just ordered a couple of the ponte pants and some Ryka mules I have been wanting to try for around the house. Returning in store is so easy. And they have great children’s clothes and home goods. Your BFMD was spot on. Thank you.

  2. Loved, loved your BFMD! I read it twice and then printed it so I could read again and again when I need to.Nice outfits.
    Have a blessed day.

  3. I love the pencil shirt!! So flattering and crisp. Reminds me that I need to add one to my wardrobe. Thanks!

  4. Kay your comments at the end of the email, today hit me right in the heart. It truly gives me hope. I lost my husband 4 months ago to brain cancer.
It was all so sudden and 5 months after the diagnosis he passed away, I know he walks with God but we truly miss him here.
Thanks for serving the Lord !

    1. Oh, I’m so very sorry for your loss Betsy. I cannot imagine how hard this past year must have been for you. And I’m sure your grief is still painful. May you continue to feel God’s presence and hear His voice clearly as He walks with you through the shadow of death. Loss is a hard journey, but I trust He will accompany you to higher ground in the days and months to come. 💕

  5. I like shopping at Kohls. I find that they have good quality clothing along with excellent prices. I am retired and usually shop the Croft and Barrow brand as it fits my lifestyle. As a result of your post, I went to Kohls and tried on the Nine West blazer. I loved it and purchased 2, the olive and small taupe check. I think it will look great with blue jean’s this fall. Also, I purchased 2 Sonoma tees and 2 Nine West ponte pants (on line) I would like for you to receive your affiliate commission. My question is how to do this when I purchase in-store rather than online.

I am new to your blog, having found you on Pinterest and I am really enjoying it. Thanks for all you do!

    1. Hi Linda. That’s wonderful! I’m so glad my blog post inspired you to make your purchases at Kohl’s. I don’t receive a commission from in-store purchases, but that’s quite okay. The brand does take notice of my readers’ comments, so I appreciate you sharing here. In fact, just yesterday Kohl’s extended an offer to me for four more sponsored posts for the remainder of the year. Yay!
