Recently my husband and I spent a few days at a historic midwestern resort. Sure, it would have been lovely to visit the coast. But we thoroughly enjoyed the history and turn of the century architecture we experienced at the West Baden Springs Hotel in French Lick, Indiana. Whether you’re spending a few days at a resort, piling in with all the grands at a big house on the beach, cruising the Caribbean or island hopping, I’ve got a lovely resort worthy travel capsule for you. And hey, you can wear these fun, colorful fashions for a staycation, too!

All of the items from Chico’s shown in this post were gifted from Chico’s. The Tory Burch Miller Cloud sandals were also comped. But all opinions shared are genuine and my own. The blog post is not sponsored.
Truly pieces like this lotus bloom ruana will make any ordinary day feel at least a little like a vacation. You could wear this pretty, colorful topper with a column of white like I’ve done here. But you’ll also see me wear it with blue jeans. Truly all of these pieces are so versatile. That’s why I love them for packing for a vacation.

But vacation is a great time to wear clothing that is both comfortable but also special and classy. I enjoyed wearing my white UPF cargo crops with multiple outfits. They can look dressy enough for brunch or casual enough for golf. They fit true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 1 (8 M). I topped my cargo crops with a white linen stretch layering tank for a column of white underneath my lotus bloom ruana. Unfortunately they are sold out of the white in this great tank, but they do have availability in other colors that would work with the ruana and other pieces I’m sharing.

By the way, when I shared these white UPF cargo crops on Instagram the other day, someone commented that they looked too sheer. But they really aren’t. I think they look sheer in these photos because of the whiter trim and zipper covering. But I feel very appropriately covered in these crops. Still, if you’re hesitant about the white, but like the silhouette (and they feel amazing!), you might want to check out the similar crops in other pretty colors or even black or navy here.

Above I’m wearing the same white linen stretch layering tank and lotus bloom ruana with these lightweight cropped length blue jeans. They have a very straight leg, a little wider than some, but still very flattering and perfect for summer. I’m wearing my normal size 1 (M 8) in these high rise cropped jeans.

I completed both looks with my gold metallic Tory Burch Miller Cloud sandals. I’m wearing these on repeat this summer. So trendy, comfortable and fun to wear. But they’re pricey. So if you’re looking for something more economical you might try these Birkenstocks or these by Aldo. I carried my J.Crew market tote all week and loved using this bag.

Next I wore the white UPF cargo crops with one of Chico’s signature microfiber tanks and their lightweight summer romance cardigan. Both are in belladona blue, but they have other lovely colors to choose from, too. I love the little button detailing at the three quarter length sleeve cuff of this cardigan. It’s lightweight and can be worn with the same color underneath, a print or a contrasting color.

This combination was perfect for sightseeing or lunch. I felt comfortable and cool in these breathable separates.

You also might remember that I shared these same UPF cargo crops in my recent post about golf outfits. So these are truly versatile summer pants. Great for vacation! I love the clear aqua! But if you go with the white, they also have this UPF embroidered jacket that matches. Of course you could wear that white jacket with other colored pants, too.

Next up, I wore these darling emerald green UPF explorer skort for an evening ice cream run. This explorer skort is so comfortable. Really silky soft and stretchy. And the shorts underneath feel very comfy and ample. This pull on explorer skort comes in a variety of other colors and fits true to size.

On this day I paired my explorer skort with a coordinating drop shoulder tie-dye tee. It runs a little large. I’m wearing a medium or 1, but probably could have worn a small or 0. You’ll find other similar tees that would coordinate with different color skorts or the similar shorts in the shopping widget below. I’ve filled it with resort worthy options.

I’m sure you can look back through these photos and see that all of these pieces from my resort worthy capsule could have created even more outfits. For instance, I could wear the drop shoulder tie-dye tee with either the jeans or the UPF cargo crops. And I could wear the explorer skort with the microfiber tanks and summer romance cardigan or even with the lotus bloom ruana. You’ll find lots of other mix and match options for a resort worthy travel capsule wardrobe at Chico’s, too. And just today they discounted even more of these and other pieces.

Blessed for My Day
Sometimes when I’m waiting for the Lord to provide the help I need in a situation or the answer to a prayer I’ve prayed frequently, I begin to feel like I am weakening. I grow weary and even give into the temptation to jump ahead of God, attempting to take things into my own hands. This only causes more frustration and despair. Discouragement sets in as things get even more complicated and bleak.
But when I truly wait for God – relinquishing control of the situation to Him and honoring His promise with obedience – I actually gain resolve and hope. Healthy waiting is not just passing the time. We wait well when we spend the “meantime” leaning into God’s promises, sharing our thoughts and emotions with Him in prayer, meditating on Scripture, remembering how He has acted on our behalf before and trusting that He is at work. When we wait well, God will actually strengthen not only our resolve, but our character. We become more godly and more useful in His kingdom.
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31
Nice BFMD. Looks like you and your husband enjoyed your visit at the historic resort. Enjoy your day at the nail salon. I need to make an
appointment myself for a pedicure. Of course I cannot go to one in Kentucky from Minnesota, how far is it from you?
It was about 33 minutes away. Not bad. And I really liked the salon so I may go back.
I love the colors in this capsule wardrobe! What size ruana are you wearing? Thanks.
I’m wearing the s/m.
I was at ChickOs the other day. I tried those pants on in the size 1 to big and the 0.5 I felt they were a tad tight. I didn’t get them. I tried on the blue. Really pretty color. I liked them a lot.
While I am a few days behind reading this post, I love all of the pieces you shared. When I am able to splurge, Chico’s has become my go-to online store. Their pieces are classic, the quality is top notch, and their sizing fits my body shape. And what a beautiful BFMD!
Great to hear, Ginger. Thanks for letting me know. I’m glad you enjoyed the post.
