Happy Friday! It’s once again time for me to share my daily outfits. Not only do I share these outfits because readers seem to enjoy it, but also it keeps me accountable for getting dressed for my day. Yeah, I need that kind of a gentle push just as much as some of you do. So here’s a rundown of my recent spring outfits.

Sizing Information

Just for reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 155. I generally wear a size 8 or medium in dresses, tops, jackets and pants (or 29 or 30 in jeans), so that’s what I’m wearing in these looks unless I tell you otherwise. That way you can assume everything I show you is true to size unless I alert you to sizing up or down. I wear a size 9.5 shoe and, again, I’ll just let you know if I sized up or down in a shoe, otherwise it’s true to size.

My Recent Spring Outfits

Spring in Ohio is unlike spring in any other place I’ve ever lived. This Southern lady is still getting used to the constant chill in the air and the back and forth temperatures. Last weekend was beautifully sunny but cool. Then Monday we woke up to snow. And this week it’s been getting warmer but wetter with each day. So my outfits definitely reflect the climate I live in.

What I Wore Friday

Friday James and I got out and explored the Cincinnati Nature Center. In fact, we enjoyed it so much we bought memberships. I look forward to going back frequently just for long walks and bird watching.

I didn’t take a mirror selfie since I knew James was taking his camera. My makeup wasn’t really photo-shoot ready, but I decided to share the photos in this Monday’s blog post anyhow. I thought it was a fun post. I shared ideas to help us all get outside a little more this spring.

Let's Go Outside!

I purchased that Let’s Go Outside t-shirt last year, but evidently Madewell is restocking it for the summer. It’s on backorder right now, but you can order it for approximate May 12th shipping. It runs true to size.

When we got home that afternoon I showered and changed into my black jeans and the black silk blend collared top I’d just received in the mail. I don’t think I bothered to put on makeup since we were in for the day and I was tired. But I did manage to add a little jewelry evidently.

You may remember I wore the “dusty shell” bisque colored silk blend collared top in this video and this blog post. After wearing it several times I just couldn’t resist ordering the black and wild hibiscus, too. You’ll see all three in this post. These tops are sooo comfortable and I think they look very sharp and a little elegant. And while this polo neckline is trending, these are nothing like the pique knit polo tops I wore in high school. Much richer feeling and looking. They seem to having sizes replenishing frequently, by the way. I snagged the wild hibiscus on a day when the mediums suddenly reappeared.

Saturday’s Video Shoot

Saturday we shot videos. That generally means I don’t really “wear” any one thing on those days. But I did take a photo of my full outfits, which you can’t really see in the videos. In the first video we shot, which is the one I published this week with Walmart, I wanted to wear a top from the sponsoring store. I’d picked up this white flutter sleeve top the day I shopped for the items I shared in the video, but I hadn’t tried it on. Lesson learned. I’m not a big fan. But I went ahead and wore it.

So yeah, I don’t care much for that flutter sleeve top, but I gave it a whirl. If you’re interested in trying the flutter sleeve trend, I’d recommend this eyelet flutter sleeve top from Loft, which works so much better. I have that one in red and ivory and love it.

For next week’s video I wore the wild hibiscus silk blend collared top because, yeah, I’m in love. Hahaha! The color of the silk blend collared top is nothing like it appears in this mirror selfie, by the way. It really looks just like it does on the J.Crew website. And I’ve already checked next week’s video, and it does indeed look like the pretty, deep reddish pink it is there.

Saturday Afternoon
silk blend collared top // sandals // similar necklace // white (Sea Salt) linen trousers (shop through this link and get 20% off your order of $100+)

I was so excited that these Sea Salt linen trousers from Garnet Hill had arrived, so I put them on for the video shoot. But alas they are too big, so I’ve returned them for the next size down. I had ordered a 10 because I’d seen another influencer showing them and she’d said she wore a 10. But they are definitely too large on me. I’m hoping my true size 8 will not be too snug because these are great pants. I love that they are such a nice linen, but in a classic trouser with a button and zipper fly. Garnet Hill is not a part of any of my affiliate programs, so I’m just linking you to them with a regular link. BUT if you go to Garnet Hill through this Save & Earn link you’ll get 20% off your order of $100 or more and I’ll later get 20% off, too. Score!

How I Dressed for Easter Sunday

Easter was a beautiful day. Yes, it was a little windy and cool, but at least the sun was out in full force. So I wore my J.McLaughlin Brynn Dress in abstract tile. It felt very festive and appropriate for a joyful occasion. And truly, it was a joy filled day. We had an Easter egg hunt for children, yummy snacks and a powerful service. Then James and I joined another family for a delicious brunch at a favorite restaurant.

I’m wearing my TTS medium in the J.McLaughlin Brynn Dress, by the way. These dresses fit close to the body, but they have lots of stretch and are very comfortable. The fabric is thick enough to be quite forgiving, but I did wear my Commando slip underneath, too.

What I Wore When It Turned Cold

We woke up to snow Monday morning. Bleh. Determined not to let it dampen my mood, I wore my white straight leg jeans and this fun sweatshirt from Athleta.

I probably should have worn sneakers. But I wasn’t going anywhere. So I wore these oh so comfortable sandals. I’m pretty sure they’re going to be my summer favorites. In fact, I ordered the black ones this week, too.

What I Wore to Work from Home Tuesday

Tuesday wasn’t any warmer and I was feeling a little under the weather at this point. So I phoned it in with my straight leg jeans a cotton pullover sweater my fun and comfortable trainers.

What I Wore Wednesday

Wednesday started to warm up a bit. I still didn’t go anywhere. Come to think of it, I didn’t get out much at all this week. So I’m definitely getting out and about today! Anyhoo! On this day I decided to wear my ecru or natural colored modern ankle jeans and a wrap top from Boden. Definitely size up in this top, by the way. I’m really enjoying the natural or ecru jean trend. Somehow they are actually looking better to my eyes than the white denim this spring.

natural modern ankle jeans // wrap top (no longer in this print, size up) // ivory slide sandals // necklace // bracelet // earrings // denim jacket in Sweet Janes (use code FRIEND for an extra 30% off) // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off your order)

And I think Talbots has done a good job with these natural modern ankle jeans. My only complaint is that they have hardly any stretch in them. But they are a nice silhouette and a good shade of natural.

What I Wore Thursday

Finally we started warming up on Thursday. But I was still feeling like neutrals. I wore my dusty shell silk blend collared top with my grey slim ankle jeans and my soft beige loafers. Ever since I discovered this neutrals color combination in the winter I can’t get enough of it.

Because there’s still a chill in the air, I added my linen blazer, thinking I was going to get out and run a few errands. But I never did get out. I did, however, wear the linen blazer while I worked. This outfit felt smart and pulled together, but casual and comfortable, too.

Thanks so much for dropping in today. You can shop these outfits through the links in my text and under the photos. If you have any questions, let me know in the comments. Have a great Friday!

Blessed for My Day

One of our greatest desires is to feel secure. And when we don’t feel safe and secure we sometimes behave in ways that indicate to others that we feel threatened or lost. We call those behaviors our insecurities. We all have them, I suppose. And when someone accidentally “bumps into us” in a way that causes us to feel vulnerable, we show those insecurities. It’s not always a pretty site, wouldn’t you agree?

How can we be women who are more secure so that we are not so fragile and easily rattled? How can we be secure enough so that we actually help put others at ease, too? I believe real security begins and ends with our relationship with God through Jesus Christ. When we truly understand that nothing can separate us from His love – which includes His provision, His strength, His protection and His personal interest in our lives – then we will live in a way that echoes that sense of security and steadfastness.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.” ~ John 10:28-30

  1. You are beautiful. The Brynn dress for Easter looks great on you! Your makeup, hair, and dress/blazer combo was perfect!!
    I enjoy your blog Kay!

  2. The weather has been like that here in Minnesota too. Cold one day, a little warmer the next. Today it is raining again so it is a 3rd layer or light sweater for me.
It is thundering loudly outside. This type of thunder reminds me of my Grandmother in Missouri. She would tell us Grandchildren that is was God turning over his
tater (potato) wagon in Heaven. Was so comforting to me as a child.
Like your dress. Still debating about ordering it, as I have all ready bought 3 dresses and a skirt this Spring. Have a blessed day.

  3. I have been eying the silk Henley and finally purchased it. I am not sure how it will go with my coloring, but the off-white was the only one available in my size. Love the dress on you!

  4. I really like the dress you wore on Easter Sunday, the Athleta sweatshirt, and the polo in the pink color. Down here in south central GA, we’ve had lows in the 30’s-40’s with highs in the 70’s, so I get the challenge of deciding what to wear. Enjoy getting out this afternoon! Have a beautiful weekend!

  5. Kay all these outfits are awesome! That dress! You kidding me ,it is fantastic on you! What a fun, unique dress, I love it! 💕💕💕💕 You inspire me week after week.❤️

  6. Kay, thank you for giving such great advice, and inspiration. I followed your example with the gray jeans, white shirt, white double breasted jacket, and white shoes. I felt put together, and stylish. I even received some compliments. I hadn’t thought of that combination before, it’s a winner. I always enjoy your Blessed for My Day. Thanks for all the work that you put into keeping us up to date on the latest fashion and styles.
