Welcome to Dressed for My Day! While I really prefer to focus on styling tips and outfit inspiration, I also think it’s important to shop for our wardrobes strategically. And one of the strategies that has paid big dividends for me in the past couple of years is accumulating rewards points at my favorite retailers strategically so I can use them to stretch my wardrobe budget. This weekend Nordstrom is awarding 3x points to Nordy Club members, so it’s a great time to accumulate those points at a faster rate.

Why Shop the Nordstrom Triple Points Event?
I absolutely do not recommend shopping an event like the Nordstrom Triple Points event just to rack up points if you don’t really need or want something. I’m really a proponent of a lean closet and less consumption. I think building a wardrobe that works for you is always smarter than constantly and perpetually shopping for more.
But I do think it’s smart to participate in at least a few retailer rewards programs, especially those from which you frequently shop. In fact, I personally like to find a few retailers that consistently have clothes that work for me, reflect my personal style and work for my budget so that I can shop them almost exclusively. That way I can rack up loyalty points in a few favorite stores to which I’m truly loyal rather than garnering a few points here and there, but never enough to result in substantial rewards.
What I Purchase in the Nordstrom Triple Points Event?
Since I do shop Nordstrom frequently, I like to take advantage of these Triple Points Events to bank points for things like the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and Christmas gift shopping. I think it’s a good time to stock up on essentials like t-shirts, socks, running shoes and shapewear. But this is also when I generally buy those big ticket items that I know rarely if never go on sale. For instance I purchased my black Veronica Beard Scuba Jacket (above), which I’ve never seen marked down. I also purchased a Dyson hair dryer in a Triple Points Event. Those items were already on my wish list, so it only made sense to purchase them when I could be duly rewarded.
Here’s How It Works
During the Nordstrom Tripe Points Event, regular Nordy club members will earn 3 points for every dollar spent, credit cardmembers will earn 6 points and Icon and Ambassador credit cardmembers will receive 9 points on the dollar. Do not use one of your Personal Double Points days during this event because you cannot combine the offers.
Nordy Club members receive $10 notes for every 1,000 points earned. Ambassadors and Icons receive $20 notes for every 2,000 points earned. Your notes accumulate and generally don’t expire for one year, with some exceptions. You can spend them just like cash on any Nordstrom purchases.
What I Love at Nordstrom
I’ve created a shopping boutique with lots of my favorites from Nordstrom. Some of these are seasonal items I’ve shared here in recent months. Others are classic wardrobe and beauty staples I have had for years and continue to value. So some are pricey, but many are not.
I’ve also found a number of great deals. These are items that are marked down, but you’ll still get those triple points when you purchase them. Score!

Blessed for My Day
I’ve had trouble sleeping lately. In fact, when I wake up in the morning I feel like I haven’t even slept. I think my mind is racing, even through the night, with thoughts of wedding plans, work details and contract obligations. Ugh. So a few mornings ago I began my day by meditating on Philippians 4:6-7. It’s not enough to remind ourselves to stop being anxious. We have to let our minds and hearts settle into a place of peace that is provided by God as we pray about our needs and thank him for the impending answers.
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Kay, thanks for sharing those verses – Philippians 4:6-7 is one of my favorite passages. I love that it reminds me to thank God for His care and for His answers to prayer, even before I see them. Also, I love the promise that His peace will keep our hearts AND MINDS focused on Christ Jesus. I need my mind focused as much as my heart!
