This is going to be fun! At the end of the year I like to evaluate in several different ways. Eventually we’ll get to my most regrettable purchases of the year. Dump de dum. That’s a no-fun but highly valuable assessment for sure. But today let’s enjoy a walk through my favorite outfits of 2025. And along the way I’ll share why I chose these particular combinations and would gladly wear them again.

I’m running through my favorite outfits of 2025 from most recent to last winter. And while many of these outfits are stylized photographs from blog posts, I only allowed myself to include outfits I actually wore somewhere. For instance, we frequently take photos on Sunday afternoons, so I wore a lot of these favorite combinations to church.
One of the benefits of taking photographs of so many of my outfits is that I can evaluate them at the end of the year. I learn so much about my personal style and what really works for my true lifestyle when I look through the photographs from the past year. So I’ll share my take-aways along the way, too.
Comfortable, Chic Tonal Outfit
I love a tonal outfit, and I’ve learned that one of the keys to the best tone-on-tone outfits is a combination of textures. This recent winter monochromatic outfit definitely checked all the boxes.

I included this all soft camel outfit in my favorites because it was comfortable, but also looked chic and pulled together. It’s one I’ll definitely wear again soon.
Barbour selections
By the way, you can shop any available items in these favorite outfits through the captions in the photographs, but you can also check out the original blog posts for more details and fit information.

I included the outfit above because I really love these new Barbour pieces I’ve added to my wardrobe. I intentionally purchased the quilted jacket and the zip-collar sweater in similar colors so I could wear them together with dark wash jeans. I try to keep the contrast in intensity low in my outfits to reflect the contrast in intensity in my personal attributes, so this outfit accomplished that beautifully, too.
Loving Burgundy this Year
Burgundy, deep wine and bold cherry red have been trending this year. And I’ve enjoyed experimenting with these shades. I liked how this outfit incorporated the in vogue color but with something a little out of the box: olive green.

// see original blog post for outfit details
I also like that I decided to wear cognac accessories here. I think they made the outfit a little richer and more interesting.
My Speed for Dressing Up
I do love to dress up a little for the holidays, but I’m generally more prone to wear pants than a dress. I enjoyed wearing this combination of velvet pants with an on trend button-front cardigan in the same color.

Being able to add a coat in the same color (or very close) made the outfit even more special. I think this combination powerfully demonstrates the power of monochromatic dressing. Wearing the same color throughout gives your outfit a punch without much trouble. Add metallic shoes and a special bag and you’ve got an eye-catching combination.
A Favorite Green Dress
I’ve enjoyed wearing this green corduroy dress several times. And I think my favorite way to wear it is belted and with a pretty scarf. I love the way I’ve used brown accessories to pull this look together.

Unfortunately I’ve misplaced this beautiful silk scarf and I’m desperately trying to find it. As you might could imagine, I have a lot of clothes coming in and out of my home. And we’re just hoping and praying it didn’t accidentally end up in the donations bin. I really think it will turn up, but meanwhile I’ve missed wearing it recently.
Fair Isle and Brown
I love a good Fair Isle sweater, and this one has probably been my favorite to wear this year. I’ve enjoyed wearing a lot of trending brown, so this combination really appealed to me.

These corduroy pants fit and feel great. One of the things I’ve noticed about my favorite outfits of 2025 is that most all of them were very comfortable. I’m just over outfits that don’t feel good. Aren’t you?
A Favorite Travel Outfit
I packed for several trips in 2025, and surprisingly I think I did the best packing for my November trip to Texas. I managed to pack fairly lean, but had plenty of outfit options thanks to some key pieces. One of those multi-use pieces was my Ayr High Hopes pants, shown in the travel outfit below.

Those pants are so polished and attractive, but also very comfortable. And I really like the combination of the oatmeal colored cashmere sweater with the similarly colored accessories and the black and white scarf.
Classic Winter
This is an outfit I featured in a YouTube video, but then I wore it to run an evening errand with my husband followed by dinner out. I just remember that it felt practical and warm for a cold night out, but also a little special.

Those pants are super comfortable and of course the turtleneck is warm and soft. The jacket looks nice, but also feels good. This is just a sharp, winter combination for an everyday kind of day.
Another Favorite Travel Outfit
One lesson I’ve learned is that I tend to be more intentional about my outfit combinations when I’m traveling. I guess I put a little more thought and planning into them. So they often surface as favorites.

The photo above was literally taken as we were heading out the door for our Adirondacks fall getaway. The Endless high rise pants are always travel favorites. And they worked beautifully with a basic brown tee and a relaxed fit plaid blazer. The combination came together nicely with my Vince sneakers.
An Elevated Vacation Outfit
My Frank & Eileen Scotland getaway set is also from that Adirondacks trip. It felt like the perfect choice for dinner at our resort on a special evening.

I actually wore this outfit again on Christmas day, and it felt just as special.
Another Special Getaway Outfit
I’ve also worn this Frank & Eileen combination several times since my fall getaway to the Adirondacks. The elevated casual pieces come together to create something truly special.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that I found that darling bandana in Lake Placid to add to my outfit. I purchased the same scarf for my daughter-in-law for Christmas, and they embroidered around her two favorite parks.
Classic Relaxed Fit Plaid Jacket Combo
This relaxed fit plaid jacket has been a favorite purchase in 2025, so it’s no surprise that it showed up in more than one of my favorite outfits.

I love the combination of a good blazer, an easy-going button up shirt, jeans and sneakers. That’s just a standard favorite for me.
Several Favorite Things
This favorite outfit from 2025 is made up of several individual favorites from my closet. I purchased the suede blazer last year, and I plan to wear it for years.

The classic black jeans and cashmere sweater is a favorite pairing. And those ballet flats became fast favs – so extremely comfortable and really pretty on the foot. This outfit just feels special but so easy on the eyes.
Favorite Late Summer Look
Here’s another classic combination that I sure wore multiple times this summer. I’ve discovered that linen – even in long sleeves and long pants – can be so cool and refreshing.

I think navy and white always looks sharp together. And cognac accessories add a rich note.
A Favorite Shorts Outfit
I don’t wear shorts very frequently these days. But I did enjoy this simple combination of black linen shorts and a graphic tee.

I think the length of the shorts and the structure feels right for me. And I always love the combination of cognac and straw accessories.
A Trending Summer Dress
This past summer the mixed media dress seemed to be in the forefront. I enjoyed this one from Me+Em so much.

I may have worn it with sandals once or twice, too. But I really like how it came together with my Tretorn sneakers.
A Black Summer Dress for a Hot Date
Hahaha! It was a “hot date” because we spent two hours in a hot, steamy butterfly conservatory. But this black Jude cloth dress kept me cool and fresh.

Not only did I enjoy wearing the lightweight black dress, but I felt like the gold Beek sandals were the right choice, too. I just felt really happy in this dress outfit.
An Elevated Black Dress
Little black dress, how I love thee. Truly, I just love wearing this black Veronica Beard dress so much. In fact, I love it so much that I ended up purchasing it in light khaki, too.

I also liked pairing the black cotton dress with cognac sandals and bag. And I think the bright gold Julie Vos jewelry works really nicely here.
Cool Girl Outfit
I shared this favorite outfit of 2025 as a cool girl outfit formula for summer. And that’s definitely what it felt like when I wore it. Yes, it’s boxy and relaxed fit. But that’s a fun combination for a hot warm day.

The combination of black drawstring linen pants with a graphic tee and flight jacket felt fresh and modern. Add in the chunky sandals and a large straw tote…and I love it!
Oh! Maybe This is My Favorite!
Just because I have fallen in love with good quality button-up shirts and wide leg jeans, this combination may just be my favorite.

I love these trouser jeans from J.Crew, and the shirt and sweater from Frank & Eileen feel both classic and feminine. These pieces work beautifully for my real lifestyle and they’re flattering, too.
Modern Evening Out Look
I wore this favorite outfit of 2025 when we went to a live performance last spring. The cargo pants are from Veronica Beard and they’re still in my closet. I love their slenderizing fit. Paired with the slim fit red ribbed top and that print mac coat, this outfit felt special but also modern

We used to dress up so much for live performances, didn’t we? But these days people wear a little of everything. So I felt like this outfit struck a nice balance between special and classy.
My Business Uniform
As someone who mostly works from home I rarely have need to wear a suit. But this year I had several opportunities for business engagements. The photograph below was taken on a day when I spoke at the Cincinnati Woman’s Club. I enjoyed wearing my Veronica Beard Miller dickey jacket and Renzo pants with a graphic tee, and I got so many compliments on that pairing.

But I later wore this same outfit combination in New York for a YouTube meeting and then again for another business event in California.
A Favorite Summer Outfit on Repeat
I surely wore this favorite summer outfit at least half a dozen times. You may have noticed that many if not most of my favorite outfits of 2025 were comprised of neutrals or just one color. But here I boldly paired two bright colors in one winning combination.

These Eileen Fisher linen pieces were super comfortable, too, of course. And the colors felt fun and bright, but also a little elevated and chic.
A Favorite New Dress
I had heard so much about the Brochu Walker dresses; I just had to try one. But when push came to shove, I purchased three. This brown one turned out to be my favorite silhouette and color. The fabric is super soft and cool on the skin, so the dress is comfortable to boot.

I wore this dress several times at least. And every time it felt perfect. It’s versatile enough for travel or everyday wear.
Favorite Spring Outfit Combination
This favorite outfit of 2025 is a slight variation from an earlier one. But here I swapped out the cotton pullover sweater for a trench coat. I don’t remember to wear a trench coat nearly as often as I mean to. But I’m always pleased with it when I do.

I wore this outfit to a women’s retreat on a cool spring day, and it felt like the perfect combination.
When I look back on this list of favorite outfits, I learn a few things about my preferences. I favor outfits that…
- fit the occasion and my real day perfectly
- feel comfortable but also look a little elevated
- are simple, not fussy
- flatter my figure and proportions without feeling tight or uncomfortable
- look easy on the eyes
- incorporate mostly all natural fiber fabrics
- feature classics but also look modern
You might want to try to take photos of your daily outfits so that you can take a similar assessment. I find it super helpful, especially as we’re beginning a new year. Thanks so much for dropping in. You might also want to check out my Favorite Purchases of 2025.

Blessed for My Day
Can we ever really fathom the richness of God’s grace? Until we understand how abhorrent our sin is before a holy God, we cannot possibly comprehend the price of our salvation nor the depth of God’s love.
Today let’s pause to meditate on how great a salvation we have. Let’s remember that there is no sin too great to be cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. But let’s also remember that this gift is one we could never deserve or repay. Indeed, God’s grace is amazing.
Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool. ~ Isaiah 1:18
I love the burgundy coat so smart and classic
Best wishes for a Happy Peaceful New Year from South Wales UK
Thank you so much, Gloria.
Your comments at the end of the post are so valuable for evaluating outfits. Appreciated!
The standout for me this year is the combining of burgundy and olive, two near-complementary colors on the color wheel. Hadn’t tried that til this fall. Also, thanks to Talbots this fall, I added rust into the mix with them. Great warm fall combo.
Sounds like some winning combos. Thanks for sharing. 🥰
My favorites on you: your cool neutrals (especially the lighter ones), the pinks, the burgundy, and the blues, especially when worn in a low contrast or monochromatic outfit. 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Carolyn. 🥰
I really liked the burgundy outfits and how you added olive pants (or could do olive top with burgundy pants) with the one outfit. Also really liked the tonal outfit in burgundy. I purchased the JCrew button up cashmere sweater in burgundy. The velvet burgundy pants are now on my wish list. I have red velvet pants from a couple years ago but thinking burgundy ones too. Also, outfit in plaid blazer from Madewell with cream Athleta endless pants one of my all-time favorite this past Fall and Summer. I got compliments every time I wore mine.
Oh I love that you enjoyed wearing that Endless pants and blazer outfit too.
Oh, I forgot to mention the Jude cloth black dress. I purchased this Summer and though I have only worn it once, I know I will wear it for years to come.
Good morning, Kay. Thank you for the recap of this year’s favorites. I don’t buy as many clothes as you do, but you always inspire me in ways to put outfits together. I appreciate all you do and look forward to your posts each day. May blessings be continued for you in the new year.
Thanks Laura. I definitely wouldn’t buy as many either and many of mine are gifted to me. I much prefer working with a smaller capsule type wardrobe. But for this job I do like being able to share a wide variety of options.
I love these choices on you too and see why you chose them. I think you really know your style for your life style. I’m doing better but still make those purchases that I leave sitting in my closet.
Great post. I’m trying to decide if I’m taking my Christmas decor down early or wait until New Years is over. Are you the take down right after Christmas or leave up awhile? I had a friend one year who left it up so long she changed her tree out to Valentines. I could never leave it up that long. We still have Christmas with our kids and grands to do, at my daughters a ways away, coming up on New years so I’ll want it down after we get home.
My kids are still here a couple more days and then we celebrate our anniversary next weekend. So I’ll either get the decorations down mid week or I’ll have to do it the week after. I don’t like them to be up too long, but I get them down at different times each year.
You look so nice in all your outfits. Your vibe is definitely elevated, casual. Thanks for sharing. Silly question. Last year you had a red leather puff sleeved jacket that was a mistake. Did you ever figure a good way to wear it. Or did it get passed on?
I passed that one on to someone who could enjoy it more. ☺️
Hello Kay, I hope you find the lovely silk scarf again soon. It does go well with the dress. I was missing a favorite footwear item for an entire year once. I found it tucked in a side pocket of a tote bag! It’s the most frustrating feeling when you miss a closet item. It’s the most wonderful feeling of relief when you are re-united with the “old friend”. I found a lost car key fob in a pocket of a jacket I rarely wore. By the time I found the key fob, I had already sold the car! Try praying to St. Jude, the patron saint of lost items / causes. Good luck Kay.
