May 2, 2024

Well since we didn’t meet up here yesterday, let me wish you a Happy May! Can you believe we’re into the fifth month of 2024 already? Wow! Before we get too far along in the calendar, let’s look back at April and visit a few of our favorite things. Today I’m sharing the 13 top sellers at Dressed for My Day, so I’m assuming those are my readers’ and viewers’ favorites. And I’ve gathered up a few of my favorite things from this month, too.

This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links.

A Few of Your Favorite Things in April 2024

Remember, these reader and viewer favorites are the things most frequently purchased through my affiliate links here at the blog, on my YouTube channel, in my LTK shop and from Facebook. I say purchased, but all we really know is that these links were clicked through and then purchases were made. Shoppers absolutely could have changed their mind and bought something completely different. But the numbers are high enough to make me think that these were indeed popular items in April.

I’m sharing the reader/viewer favorites in countdown order from number 13 to number 1. I had my assistant Lucy pull the analytics on the top sellers and set this blog post prepped for me. So I’m seeing these for the first time as I type it up. I’m excited to see what has been resonating in our community.

Everlane Linen Way-High Drape Pants

Hahaha! Well, here’s how it often goes. You’ll see that these beautiful, classic linen pants are listed in my own favorite things list as well. Great minds think a like!

Another Way to Wear Black Linen Pants
black linen pants // striped silk blouse (c/o) (use code 20KAY for 20% off) // pearl detail Nappa kitten sandals (c/o) (beautiful more economical option) // belt (similar) // similar shoulder bag (more economical option) // Starry Night Aurora pearl necklace (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // pearl Stellar Ballet bracelet (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // Croissant de Lune pearl earrings (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // similar sunglasses // see original blog post

I’ve already worn these sharp, black linen pants a number of times, and we’re not even into spring yet. They fit beautifully true to size. And they do come in other colors, as well. I’m so tempted to order the trench coat khaki or the cornstalk chambray. I love the high waistband. They are so comfortable.

Endless Pant

I purchased my abalone grey Endless Pants from Anthropologie for travel last fall. But I’ve already pulled them out and started using them for travel again this spring. They fit true to size, but I’d say go with your higher size if you, like me, waffle between two.

tank (more economical tank)// similar linen jacket // pants // sneakers // earrings // necklace // bracelet // see in original blog post

The Endless Pants are a perfect length and weight for travel in the spring and summer. They come in other colors, too. But I’m wearing their sister pant, the Endless High Rise Cargo Pant, on my trip to Alaska. I have those in both navy and granite blue. They’re a tad longer and just a touch heavier, so I think they’ll work well for cooler temps and wet days. And right now you can get 25% off your purchase at Athleta, where both pants are from.

Paige Sarah Jeans

I am so happy to see the Paige Sarah high waist ankle straight jeans in this list. You can bet they’re on mine, too!

Style Lesson 3 Learned from a Favorite Outfit
jeans (more economical option) // button-up shirt (more economical option) // sandals // belt // shoulder bag (more economical) // necklace // bracelet // earrings // see original blog post

These jeans feel like jeans are supposed to, to me. They don’t have as much stretch as a lot of jeans these days, and that’s fine by me. I think that gives them a more “genuine denim” look. They’re super comfortable, all the same. I sized up to a 31 in these, as I do for most premium denim.

Raffia Bucket Bag

I don’t have this Raffia Bucket Bag, but I shared it as a “more economical option” to my Veronica Beard Goody Bag. I do love the look of it. And, while there are no reviews on the websites, I’ve heard good things on social media.

Raffia Bucket Bag here (and here)

If you purchased this Raffia Bucket Bag, I’d love to hear how it worked out for you.

Greenwich Linen Pants

I think the white Greenwich linen pants were on my favorites list in March. So I’m glad to see that so many readers/followers followed my lead and purchased them. I think they’re lovely. These linen pants are lined, but the lining is soft and a little stretchy, so they’re very comfortable and cool.

I saw someone comment on Instagram the other day that it bothered her that you can see the pockets through the fabric. I understand that. But it just doesn’t bother me with these. Granted, sometimes that very thing does indeed keep me from purchasing pants or shorts. But for some reason I wasn’t turned off in this case. Maybe it’s the placement of the pockets or the size of them that sometimes bugs me??? I don’t know, but these work for me. They run true to size; I’m wearing a 10.

Pearl Wash Straight Leg Jeans

Here’s another pair of jeans I love. In fact, I think I listed these pearl wash straight leg jeans in my March favorites list. They fit true to size; I’m wearing an 8, as I usually do in Talbots jeans.

front zip lady jacket
front zip lady jacket // jeans // suede slingbacks and here and similar option at Talbots and here // similar shoulder bag // earrings // necklace // bangle // chain link bracelet // see original blog post

If you’re weighing out costs, I’d definitely opt for these jeans over the Paige Sarah high waist ankle straight jeans above. The fit and feel is about the same, and I love the modern raw edge hemline. And both look fairly casual.

Effortless Jersey Dress

I first wore this Effortless Jersey Dress from Talbots in a YouTube video. But I don’t think I’d worn it in real life until I went to church while visiting my parents. It feels great on and garners lots of compliments.

dress // similar denim jacket // slingback pumps // earrings // necklace // stone bracelet // bracelet // see original blog post

The dress runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium. It’s on sale, and you’ll get another 30% off that. It’s definitely cool enough to wear all summer.

Two-Way Tank

I purchased this two-way tank last year and wore it so much last summer. I know it will be a staple in my wardrobe again this year.

White Linen Pants
wide leg linen pants // reversible tank in indigo/white // cropped linen jacket in simply green // sun shower brooch // earrings (c/o) // tote no longer available (alternative) // sandals // see original blog post

The tank runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium. And it comes in black, navy or rattan with white.

Linen Hooded Jacket

I linked to this linen hooded jacket as an option for my linen bomber jacket that I’ve worn for the past two years. Here’s my jacket, which is no longer available.

striped ruffle neck tank and washed linen jacket

I just wanted you to see how it looks. I’ve tried the new linen hooded jacket and it works just the same. The only real difference is the hood. I think it’s a great option.

Washed Linen Hooded Jacket

I wear my linen jacket so often. In fact, you can see me in it above with my Endless Pants on my travel day. It even held up really well for two airplane trips. I think these jackets run a little large. I have a small. They are supposed to be oversized, but if you’d like a more compact fit, I’d say size down.

Gauze Button Up Shirt

I do love this gauze button-up shirt from J.Crew Factory. In fact, readers seemed to respond really well to my recent J.Crew Factory post, so I’ll definitely share more of those.

Casual Outfit Formula with a Column of White

Gauze is one of the “it fabrics” of the season, so this one is a really nice option. It fits true to size for a roomy fit.

Pintucked Linen Pants

I’m actually wearing these pintucked linen-stretch slim-leg pants later this weekend, if everything goes as planned. I planned out all my outfits for the week on Sunday afternoon, and I’m LOVING it. I’ll share more about that experience in a post next week.

Green Linen-Blend Pants
pintucked linen-stretch slim-leg pants // navy palm tank // lightweight white double-breasted jacket // mixed-pattern square scarf // linen slides // bucket bag // earrings (c/o) // bracelet (c/o) // see original blog post

These pintucked linen-stretch slim-leg pants have been marked down and they’re still available in this cheerful green, but come in a classic blue check, too. And today you can get an extra 30% off markdowns, so these are a great buy. They run true to size for a very roomy fit. I’m wearing a medium.

Linen Cotton Blend Pants

Here’s another favorite from J.Crew Factory. I ended up passing on these linen-cotton blend drawstring pants just because I already have similar pants in my closet. But I heard from so many readers who said they’ve bought these for a couple of years now and love them.

Affordable Casual Outfits

They fit comfortably true to size, but I might would size up if I were to buy them again. That would just give me a little more room in the calves maybe.

Wide Leg Crop Pant

Now here’s a pant I’ve really worn on repeat. I even traveled with these, too. Well I packed them. The  white wide leg crop pants are so soft and comfortable. And I think they look nice, too.

linen shirt in tulip (more economical option) // white tank (more economical option) // white crop pants // sandals // necklace // earrings // bracelet 1 // bracelet 2 // see original blog post

You can get these same pants in a fun pink geranium, peach sorbet or admiral blue HERE. Sizes are going fast in all colors. The white wide leg crop pants just come in misses and petites, but the colors are available in plus sizes, too.

A Few of Kay’s Favorite Things in April 2024

Now let me share with you a few of my own favorite things from April, 2024.

These are the things I’ve been wearing on repeat or loving.

Paige Jeans

Of course, we’ve already talked about how much I love the Paige Sarah jeans.

blouse // jeans // belt // sandals // earrings // necklace // bracelet // see original post

Way-High Drape Linen Pants

And I won’t bore you with more about my affinity for these linen way-high® drape pants.

How to Wear Black Linen Trousers for Spring and Summer
white crewneck t-shirt // Levi’s denim jacket, // linen way-high® drape pants //  cognac belt // sandals // shoulder bag // see original blog post

But I sure do love them. By the way, the first photo I shared with these was a dressier look with a silk blouse. But see how easily they dress down, too? Love!

Crossover Sandal

I’ve been wearing my Everlane crossover sandals nonstop. Well, as nonstop as I can considering I’m not even supposed to wear flat shoes. Ha! But honestly, these are so comfortable that I’m able to wear them much better than most flats. The leather is amazingly soft.

sandals and shoulder bag (more economical) // see original post

These are surprisingly my very favorite shoe purchase of the spring. They run true to size and come in cream, light taupe and black, too.

Aurora Pearl Necklace

I shared this pearl jewelry in a YouTube video sponsored by Gingiberi. Of all the pieces they sent me, the Starry Night Aurora pearl necklace (c/o) is my favorite. You can fasten it so that it styles differently, but I just think it is so dainty and lovely.

black linen pants // striped silk blouse (c/o) (use code 20KAY for 20% off) // pearl detail Nappa kitten sandals (c/o) (beautiful more economical option) // belt (similar) // similar shoulder bag (more economical option) // Starry Night Aurora pearl necklace (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // pearl Stellar Ballet bracelet (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // Croissant de Lune pearl earrings (c/o) (use code KAY15 for 15% off) // similar sunglasses // see original post

For a limited time during Gingiberi’s Mother’s Day event, use code Kay18 for 18% off at Gingiberi. After Mother’s Day use code Kay15 for 15% off.

Spanx Air Essentials Wide Leg Pants & Oxford Blue Half-Zip Pullover

I don’t know why I waited so long to get on board with the Spanx Air Essentials craze. Trust me, these luxurious feeling lounge and athleisurewear pieces are worth the hype!

pullover // pants (c/o) // sneakers // necklace // see in previous blog post

They have other styles in this buttery soft fabric, too. But I’ll be wearing these Air Essentials wide leg pants and the Oxford blue and the black Air Essentials half zips on my Alaska Cruise for travel and lounging. They fit true to size, per their size guide. I’m wearing a medium in both.

Then She Was Gone & None of this is True by Lisa Jewell

I’ve been trying to read more lately. And recently I got hooked on books by a new-to-me author, Lisa Jewell. Her books are a little out of my normal niche, but I’m enjoying the mystery and “who done it” vibe for a change of pace.

Then She Was Gone // None of This is True

I guess both Then She Was Gone and None of This is True are actually categorized as psychological thrillers. Interestingly, I love watching those on television, especially British ones. But it had never occurred to me to read them. Jewell’s books are all set in Britain, and they are real page-turners. They do have some disturbing nuances and scenes occasionally, and the language gets a little dicey every so often. But otherwise, I highly recommend them if you enjoy a little mystery with a female lead character.

Alice + Olivia Joy Illustrated Silk Blouse

This Alice + Olivia silk blouse (and here) was definitely a splurge for me. But I realized I needed a little more color in my wardrobe, and this print just really resonated with me. Since I’d rather have a smaller wardrobe with impactful pieces than a large one that overwhelms me, I decided to go for it.

blazer no longer available (similar option) // silk blouse (and here) // jeans in brunch plans // belt // heeled sandals // earrings (c/o)// bracelet (c/o)// necklace // See original blog post

I love how it pairs with an ivory blazer or jacket above. But I’ve also worn it with my camel blazer, and I’m looking forward to topping it with a denim jacket or my army green bomber, too.

Thanks so much for stopping in to see a few of our favorite things. Let me know if you purchased any of these and what you thought. I love hearing from you!

Blessed for My Day

This morning in my quiet time and specifically prayed about wisdom. I’ve noticed that God differentiates between the wise and the foolish over and over, especially in the book of Proverbs, but also in the Gospels. We are encouraged to be wise, not foolish. What does it mean to be wise? Bottom line, a wise woman is one who sees life from God’s perspective and approaches all things accordingly.

That means a wise woman speaks to others graciously and with truth. It means she handles her finances, relationships, goals and time with an eternal perspective. And it means she prioritizes things according to God’s priorities. Obviously it takes a lifetime to grow in such wisdom. In my pursuit for wisdom, I’m trying to learn all I can about God and His ways through the reading and study of His Word. I also think it takes much prayer and really listening to the instruction of the Holy Spirit. How are you growing in wisdom?

The wise woman builds her house,
But the foolish tears it down with her own hands. ~ Proverbs 14:1

  1. I enjoy seeing what everyone is buying! I got the two-way tank and Greenwich linen pants from Talbots, and on sale. I have worn the tank and like it. I need to take the pants to a seamstress to be hemmed.

  2. I love today’s Blessed for My Day! I’ve been trying to decide what to do for a summer Bible study with my granddaughters. I think I’ll use this as a starting point. Thank you!

  3. The “Way High Drape Linen Pant”, How well is the waist sizing. I find with my hourglass shape I have a lot of trouble getting high waist pants that do not have that gapping at the back of the waist. These pants, however, appear to be actually higher than what is being presented as “high waist” and the model in the pictures looks like it truly fits her waist (But I’m not model slim). What can you tell us about that fit?

    1. They do truly fit my waist and I sometimes get that gap, too. But not here. They are truly “way high” but I love where they hit. Such good pants.
