When I recently shared beautiful accessories for all things tennis, golf and pickle ball from Spartina 449 in this blog post, many readers commented or emailed me that they have been enjoying this coastal brand’s handbags and beach bags for years. Indeed, company founder and owner Kay Stanley began the now thriving business with a handbag crafted from a lovely combination of linen and leather infused with whimsy and charm from the small island of Daufuskie, located off the coast of South Carolina, just one nautical mile from popular Hilton Head. But since then the brand has expanded exponentially and now carries a full collection of clothing and accessories.
My Lea midi dress is made from Peruvian cotton and features a v-neckline, short flutter sleeves, a double cinched waist, and an A-line skirt. It feels amazing on, and this dress is perfect for everything from summer bridal and baby showers, backyard parties, brunches and, of course, vacations.
I’ve found Spartina 449 clothing to have a generous but spot-on true to size (TTS) fit. I’m wearing a size medium in both of the dresses I’m sharing, and they feel great and skim the body for a flattering fit.
Another brand that really shines during the warmer months is Julie Vos. I do wear their pieces year-round, but I find myself reaching for this jewelry over and over during the summer. Their jewelry features a bright 24-karat gold plate which plays beautifully with the colorful stones featured in so many of their pieces. And I think this substantial-feeling jewelry is exactly what is called for with these bold, bright garments from Spartina 449.
With both dresses I’m carrying beautiful summer totes. This first straw tote is a bag I’ve carried for three summers now and they still have it at J.Crew. I enjoy it so much, and it’s stood up to a lot of wear.
But the second bag is distinctly Spartina 449. The Fiesta Tote in Callawassie Palmetto features lovely embroidery on a cotton and jute blend. It has a fun, tiered tassel fob (that is removable) and a faux leather bottom base to keep it dry. My second dress from Spartina 449 is the Lenea maxi dress in Callawassie pink. This Peruvian cotton dress has a v-neckline, a flowy skirt in a maxi length and a flattering cinched waist. You can easily dress it up with a pretty wrap or down with a denim jacket.
But I’ve worn mine with Spartina 449’s Dani linen jacket in soft coral. This sporty but feminine zip-front jacket features a cinched waist, on-trend front pockets, and a stand collar. I think it works beautifully here, multiplying the color effect. But I’ll be wearing it more with neutral linen pants and shorts or jeans. And, likewise, you could swap in a blue or white denim jacket to tone the color down a little. Actually Spartina 449 has a gorgeous collection of jackets to choose from, including this Leah denim jacket.
I got my Bruno Magli patent leather sandals when they were discounted, but they’re quite pricey now. I found these at a great price and they’re a beautiful combination of the Page and the Easy Spirit sandals I wore with the other dress that are sold out.

Have you prayed about it? Really prayed about it? I know I sometimes carry burdens around with me that I like to think I have prayed about. But really I’ve just stewed over them, mulled them over in my mind. I guess I assume I’ve talked to the Lord about them because, after all, He’s with me all day. So He knows, right?
But the Lord invites us, urges us to actually pause and bring Him our burdens. Until we’ve ceased worrying, talked to God about them and laid those burdens at His feet, we can’t really say we’ve prayed about them. I’m so guilty of that. Hannah, in the book of 1 Samuel, is a beautiful illustration of biblical prayer. She praised God, acknowledged her burden, laid it before Him and left it there in good faith. So I ask you…and me…again. Have you really prayed about it?
She, greatly distressed, prayed to the Lord and wept bitterly…So the woman went on her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad. ~ 1 Samuel 1:10, 18b

Yes, I would say these are more bridal shower or brunch appropriate. The fabric is that lovely cotton knit, so I think they would feel a little underwhelming for a wedding.
