Happy Friday! At the end of the week I like to round up my real life outfits to share with you. While I force myself to only style outfits here on the blog, in my LTK Shop and on the YouTube channel that I would actually wear in real life, I don’t always have opportunity to wear those exact outfits. I live a very casual life! But most Fridays you can drop in here to see how I really dressed for my day.

How This Works
These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask. All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.
How I Really Dressed for My Day Last Friday
Last Friday I was invited to lunch with a local woman I met through Instagram. It was such fun to get to know her and a friend she brought along. It was raining off and on that day and a little chilly, but I wanted to look pulled together and casually chic when I met up with this professional stylist!
So I wore my navy Veronica Beard Miller dickey blazer with a berry pink v-neck cashmere sweater vest from last fall and cropped length wide leg jeans. I finished the outfit with my Naturalizer slingback heels and gold Julie Vos jewelry. This outfit felt smart, but also comfortable and appropriate for the occasion.
What I Wore Saturday
I spent Saturday at home tying up loose ends and straightening up a bit. I think I may have indulged in reading a good bit, too. I just recently finished reading Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell. It’s a real page turner and a fairly quick read.
It was cool that day, so I wore my black Spanx Air Essential wide leg pants and Oxford blue half-zip pullover. I’m sure I wore my Orthofeet house slippers most of the day because they have my orthotics in them. But I must have snapped these photos when I put on my VB sneakers to get the mail or go out onto the back porch for a while.
How I Really Dressed for Sunday
Sunday we had church in the morning and then did a photo shoot afterwards. We attend a small house church, so it’s always very casual. That said, I do like to dress up a little on Sundays. So I wore my black linen pants from Everlane and my black and ivory striped silk blouse from Lilysilk. Remember, you can use code 20KAY to get 20% off at Lilysilk, and those savings should stack on top of whatever other offers they have.
I completed this classic outfit with my pearl detail Nappa kitten sandals (c/o). Check out these ivory Naturalizers for a beautiful more economical option.
How I Really Dressed Monday
Monday I just worked from home, but I did shoot some content for my LTK Shop. If you don’t follow me there, be sure to download the LTK Shopping App onto your phone or tablet and start following along. I actually share all of my content there, whereas you only see a portion of what I share here, on my YouTube channel and on Instagram. Plus, the LTK App is such a great shopping app. You can find influencers of all sizes and body shapes and ages there. And if you prefer to shop at certain retailers (including Amazon, Target, Marshall’s, Sam’s Club and 1000s more!), you can find people making recommendations to those stores, too. I can’t possibly cover all the stores you enjoy shopping, but you’ll find people who do in the LTK Shopping App. But hey, once you download the App, don’t forget to follow me 😉!
Anyhoo! After shooting this little video with different ways to wear these white crop pants, I settled into this column of white outfit. I love a column of white under a cheerful colored shirt or jacket. I finished the outfit with my new leather day twist sandals. These are really comfortable!
What I Wore to Work from Home Tuesday
Tuesday was another work from home day and I created an outfit very similar to the one I wore the day before…but different. Again I wore a tank and linen shirt, this time in crystal pink. But I wore the combo over simple straight leg cropped length jeans. Remember, wearing the same color in your base layer and completer piece is a no-fail combo.
By the way, I ordered about a dozen pairs of jeans recently to find a good pair of cropped length straight legs for the summer, and these Paige Sarah High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans are the only ones that worked (also available here and get 20% off your order of $250+ with code HAPPY24SF). Fortunately I LOVE them. They don’t have a lot of stretch, but they feel so good on. I’m wearing a 31, which is what I seem to wear in most jeans these days. They do have a high waist, which is what I was after. And I love the relaxed straight leg and the length. Remember, I’m 5’8″ for reference. These will probably be my one pair of cropped straight leg jeans for the spring and summer (although these and these are still yet to arrive).
What I Wore to Shoot a Video Wednesday
Wednesday we shot the next two weeks’ videos for YouTube. On video shoot days I never really wear one outfit all day, so I generally just don’t show anything for those days in these HIRDFMD posts. But I thought I’d go ahead and share what you’ll see me wearing in next Wednesday’s video. This is what I presented in.
I’ll be showing this red and white Amalfi Strip Silk Shirt a couple of ways in the video. But here I simply wore it over my wide leg cropped length jeans with cognac sandals and belt. I think this is a great elevated casual look.
How I Really Dressed for Thursday
Thursday we actually wrapped up the video shoot, so you’ll be seeing this outfit on my YouTube video in a couple of weeks. (We’ll be talking about ways to minimize large or flabby arms. Stay tuned!) After shooting the video I did a little work in the office and then spent the rest of the afternoon running errands…in the rain!
So this combo of silk silk blouse (and here) and jeans topped with a lightweight, unlined blazer felt great for the day. I added a pop of color with my new Julie Vos earrings (c/o) and bracelet (c/o). Love! By the way, those Ayr jeans are one of my absolute favorites. I’m wearing the brunch plans wash and I just ordered another pair in date night black. I wear a size 31, TTS.
That’s a wrap! That’s how I really dressed for my day this past week. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for dropping in.

Blessed for My Day
This morning in my daily Bible reading, Dr. Stanley reminded us that God always blesses obedience. Sometimes the things God asks of us seem small and inconsequential, so we may dismiss those requests thinking the stakes are not high. But the account of Jesus asking Simon the fisherman to “put out a little way from land” so that He could preach to the crowds reminds us that little acts of obedience can result in great blessings for others. Think of all the people who got to hear Jesus’ teachings loud and clear that day…all because Simon (later to be called Peter) obliged. Maybe the Lord has nudged you to do something “small” like take a cake to the neighbors, volunteer at church or offer to sit with a homebound friend. Trust me, those may be small things to you, but they could have big benefits for other people.
Later Jesus asked Simon to do something that seemed a little more bothersome, inconvenient and, honestly, silly. But when Simon obeyed and put his fishing boat out further into deep water, his obedience resulted in an overwhelmingly huge catch of fish. Has God been asking you to do something that seems illogical or inconvenient? Imagine the blessing you may be missing!
And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat. When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” ~ Luke 5:3-4
I have read that crops are going out of style. I love crops, but not the wide-leg crops. Do you think this trend is going to last?
I’m not sure where you read that or exactly what was meant by “crops” in that context. But cropped pants and jeans that are ankle length are very on trend and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. However, the crops that are cropped higher can be a little dated looking. Honestly, it’s kind of a fine line these days and seems to be more about the overall silhouette of the pant, not just the length. The straight and wider legs are more current than the slim fitting ones, too. Hope that was helpful.
I really don’t care much for open sandals. If you can, could you please suggest one or two options. Thanks! You always look fantastic!
Hello Barbara. I’m not sure what type of shoe you’re looking for. Are you wanting suggestions for flats and loafers and pumps? Or some kind of sandal that has a closed toe? I’m a little stumped but want to be helpful. Maybe something casual like espadrilles? https://rstyle.me/+YCA1e3eqprAU6LY0jGouWg Maybe I need to do a summer shoe round up. Would that help?
Hi Kay, I just wanted to say that you look stunning in the red and white shirt. The colors are beautiful on you. All of your outfits are really pretty. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us. I have learned so much.
Thank you so much Debbie. I appreciate your kindness and encouragement so very much.
