So I shot a few inspirational photos of my new spring outfit from Talbots yesterday, and I’m sharing my favorites from their new collection below. Then I’m moving things from my Wish List to my cart! Isn’t this vibrant pink and orange front zip lady jacket just darling with jeans? You can certainly dress it up, but I love the juxtaposition of this feminine lady jacket against my raw edge high waist straight leg jeans. Add a pair of slingbacks for even more charm. Talbots has several great options I’ve included in my shopping boutique below.
If you prefer a more roomy fit to accommodate a blouse or shirt underneath, you will probably want your usual true size in this front zip lady jacket. But I sized down to a small for a slimmer fit. I’m wearing a tank underneath here, purely for warmth on this winter day. But I will wear the front zip lady jacket alone later.
I was so surprised at how much I liked these straight leg jeans. Talbots has really outdone themselves here. They’re so modern, and the fit is spot on. I’m wearing my usual size 8, so I’d say they run true to size.
I do want to point out, however, that the straight leg jeans feature a two-button closure that was quite difficult to operate at first. But the fit was so great that I was determined to make them work. So I took my good sewing scissors and worked on the button-holes a bit to get them as wide and open as possible without compromising that integrity of the stitching. So just a little warning in that regard. They work fine for me now, but I did have to doctor them a little.
This outfit of modern jeans and a bright-colored front zip lady jacket is one I will definitely enjoy wearing this spring. I’ll wear it out to lunch with friends, to a business brunch I have on my calendar and to have coffee out with my husband.
My jewelry in this outfit is all from Julie Vos, and I’ve linked the individual pieces in the captions of the photos. I love this bright gold, substantial jewelry, especially for spring and summer. My shoes are suede slingbacks from Sam Edelman and they fit true to size. I love the feminine silhouette of these shoes and they feel nice on, too. But Talbots has some great new slingbacks that I’ve linked below. They are definitely THE SHOE of the season.
I’m so excited to see Talbots’ new spring collection. I think they’re something for everyone. Not only do they have a lot of vibrantly colored pieces like my front zip lady jacket, but I found many beautiful selections in black, too, which I always love. How great would the outfit below be???

The lady jacket and jeans are tres chic!! I love the look of slingbacks, but the strap always slides off and I end up floppy around or stopping for fix it a lot. Anyone else have this issue?
I use to have that problem but have not had an issue in the past few years. I feel like maybe they’re making them better. But who knows!

HI, Kay, you look stunning! I want to duplication this outfit but have two questions. How heavy is the jacket: could you wear it in your Ohio summer? I am in RI on the coast. It looks as if the jeans may have threaded (raw?) hems. If so, do you think it would not harm them to cut off the threads? Thanks
I probably won’t be wearing the sweater past about May unless I wear it open over a tank. I have several pairs of jeans with a raw edge hemline and I’ve never had a problem with any of them unraveling. If they do get a little thready, I just trim the threads. And I never put any of my jeans in the dryer.
