Happy Friday! Can you believe we are now less than two weeks away from Thanksgiving? We’ll be spending the day with my son and daughter-in-law. In fact, we’ll also get to celebrate my son’s birthday with him the evening before. I’m very excited for the occasion. Whether you have plans to be with family, friends or fellow volunteers, or you’ll be alone, I do hope you’ll make the day a little festive by putting on something you enjoy for the day. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite outfits from this fall to give us all a little outfit inspiration for Thanksgiving Day.

My assistant Lucy put these photos in and has linked the key items that are still available in the captions below them. She’s also linked you to the original blog post. It looks like a good many of the items that are available are also marked down. I mainly want to spend my time here talking about the formulas I’ve used so you can create similar looks from your closet. So if you need more information about the outfit itself or the items I’m wearing, just head over to the original blog post.
Double the Color Up Top Over Favorite Jeans
I love the combination of doubling up your color or neutral up top (with the same color top and completer piece) and wearing it over a pair of great jeans. This combination is always simple and effortless looking, but very impactful and memorable.

You can create a similar look with so many combinations from your closet. Play around with this formula and make it work for your personal style aesthetic.
Go Monochromatic
I love wearing one color head to toe, especially in the fall when you can layer on the textures for interest. You can certainly do this little style formula with dependable black – make sure to use variation in texture – but why not try it with another interesting color?

This year deep shades of burgundy or wine are so on trend. But you could create a similar look with dark green, sapphire blue, blush rose or chocolate brown, to name a few.
A Casual Dress Made Special
This Frank & Eileen green corduroy dress is a real possibility for me on Thanksgiving. We’ll definitely be going kind of casual. But my daughter-in-law likes to wear dresses, so she just may be in one. That has me thinking about wearing a casual dress but making it a little special with accessories.

You could add a belt, a scarf, some pretty jewelry or a sweater on your shoulders, like I’ve done above. Wear shoes that fit your surroundings, activities and company. I’ll take sneakers with me, but I’ll probably be wearing my bedroom shoes since my kids don’t wear shoes in their home. I’m glad I have these cute ones to take along!
A Dress Elevated
Before I knew for sure that we were going to my son’s house for Thanksgiving, I had made dinner reservations at a favorite fine dining restaurant. If we hadn’t cancelled those, I would probably have worn something like this dress with boots.

If you’re going out for the festive day, you can make your outfit a little more elevated with pretty boots, a coordinating bag, a pretty jacket and some jewelry.
Corduroy + Prints + Denim
Corduroy is “having a moment” this fall and winter, and I’m here for it. Thanksgiving Day is a good day to wear a pair of corduroy pants or skirt because this fabric feels a little more special than denim but still looks casual and homey. And it has some stretch!

You could swap out the suede boots for ballet flats, mules or those bedroom slippers, of course. And you can leave the denim jacket off if you prefer, too. This is a great combo if you’re going to a large gathering of friends and family.
Pullover Sweater + Jeans
Of course there’s always the faithful standby of pullover sweater and jeans. And I say “faithful” because I love this combo. Make it effective and not boring by adding some pretty jewelry, tucking the sweater gently in the front and wearing a belt.

Here I’ve also bookended the look by wearing the same color sweater and booties. Remember that your coat is the first thing many people will see you in, so choose carefully. You won’t go wrong with a classic like this one.
Shirt + Sweater Vest
Sweater vest started trending a few years ago, but they’re still very in style. And I think I’m finally learning how to choose the best ones for me and how to style them. I like a sweater vest with a V or scoop neckline so I can wear it over a button-up shirt.

You absolutely can give your shirt and vest a little front tuck if you please. But you can usually wear it untucked with great results, too. And let’s face it, after that Thanksgiving meal all belts are off!
Casual Coordinated Suit
Here’s another nice possibility for a Thanksgiving dinner at a restaurant or a gathering where you know people will dress up a little. Matching suits are so on trend and fun to wear.

I also showed this coordinated suit with heels in the original blog post. But I do like it for a homey holiday like Thanksgiving with loafers. I’ve kept the suit more casual by wearing it with a basic t-shirt and adding a hoodie dickey.
The Trending Barn Jacket
I’ve shown several ways to wear the trending barn jacket now, but my favorite is still with this lightweight turtleneck and a flannel shirt. Of course, if the weather is cooler or you expect the heat to be running high in the home, you could wear just one of those base layers.

But this barn jacket is the perfect outer piece to add for that after dinner stroll through the neighborhood. Let’s face it, you may get in a walk that morning. But most of us just stroll after eating a big dinner. Anyhow, jeans topped with these fall favorites is a sure thing for Thanksgiving day.
Elevated Jeans Outfit
And finally I have another jeans outfit, but this one is a little more elevated. The addition heeled booties, a belt and that suede jacket make this look so polished and classy. Honestly, if I were going out to dinner, this is what I’d wear.

In fact, I’ll probably take this outfit for our little trip to our kids’ house to wear the night before or the day after Thanksgiving.
I hope this outfit inspiration for Thanksgiving day was helpful for you. Sometimes I just need to see a variety of outfits presented so that I can figure out the look I want to go for. And remember, you can recreate these formulas in so many different ways to suit your particular itinerary, style aesthetic and body type. Let’s make it a joyful day!

Blessed for My Day
I’m a firm believer in expressing gratitude, not just feeling it. Let’s face it, if we don’t bother to share our thanks with the person who has given or blessed us with something, they have no way of knowing how grateful we may feel. An attitude of gratitude is basically wasted when it’s not expressed orally or in writing.
Then again, the Bible says there is an even more important way of expressing our gratitude to God. We certainly can and should offer up our thanksgiving to Him through words of praise. But God all the more values our behavior over our words. The best way we can show our gratitude to our Maker is to serve Him with obedience and reverence. In other words, we show God our gratitude when we bend the knee to Him in all matters of life.
Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let’s show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe…” ~ Hebrews 12:28
I like the dress with the cream leather jacket and boots the best. I ordered the jacket and wore it Tuesday at Bible study with jeans and cotton navy turtleneck top. Got a compliment right away. I also like the all monochromatic burgundy cords and sweater. So classy also. Liked the BFMD a lot.
