Textured fabrics like corduroy are really trending this fall and winter. And in the Talbots Friends & Family Winterfest you’ll find so many great silhouettes and styles in this quintessential cool weather fabric. Today I’m sharing some of the new things I’ve gotten from Talbots recently and I’m styling corduroy three ways for fall and winter.

In fact, they have some beautiful NEW ARRIVALS, featuring velvet and sequined party looks, apres ski garments and accessories, chunky sweaters and warm coats. And yes, those are 30% off, too! I’ll share some of my favorite new arrivals at the end of the post. But first let’s check out how I styled these corduroy relaxed straight leg pants.

My corduroy relaxed fit straight leg pants are in rich burgundy, a trending color for fall and winter 2024. This modern silhouette fits true to size for me; I’m wearing my usual 10. They also come in ivory, indigo blue and dark walnut brown. And remember, Talbots is size inclusive, so they are also available in petites and come in sizes 2 to 18. I don’t have any, but Talbots also carries a stretch corduroy flare pant this fall, and those are available misses and petites, as well as plus and plus petites.

Probably my absolute favorite way to wear corduroy in the fall is with a denim jacket. I love the mix of those textures! So I topped the rich burgundy pants with a pretty print shirt and jean jacket, both new finds from Talbots. They both run true to size; I’m wearing mediums.

I love that Talbots includes a lot of color in their collections. None of us have to wear all of them, of course. But they make wearing color easy and fun. I always like to temper a lot of color in an outfit with either a good dose of black or denim.

Next up, I styled a pair of the Talbots stretch corduroy straight leg pants in pomegranate red. I personally love this vibrant, rich red, but these slimmer fit straight leg pants also come in classic red, as well as an amazing 10 others colors and neutrals. If your hips are significantly wider than your waist, you may want to check out these pants in the curvy fit.

I often size up in corduroy, but I’m wearing my true size 10 in both of the ones I’m sharing today. By the way, did you notice those dark walnut brown suede Tish ankle boots I’m wearing with both corduroy pants outfits? Love! They fit true to size and feel great on. I do have to work a little to get them on and off my feet, but they’re worth the tiny bit of struggle. The boots also come in deep olive green suede, and you might want to look at their full (and impressive) lineup of boots and booties.

This time I topped my corduroy pants with another tried and true favorite, a chunky pullover sweater. This cotton blend sweater features textured stitching with an elegant tweed finish. It has snap buttons for easy on and off as well as styling options. I styled mine with this fun gathered leaves square scarf.

Really, Talbots has so many great options for corduroy pants this year. There’s something for everyone’s taste. In addition to the two styles I’ve modeled and the flare legs I’ve already called out, Talbots is also carrying their popular stretch corduroy jeggings again (and in a curvy fit), as well as these wide leg pants, these demi boots pants and several skirts. In fact, I have a corduroy skirt to show you!

My remaining favorite way to top corduroy of any kind – skirt or pants – is with a denim or chambray shirt. Here I’ve worn their corduroy button-front A-line skirt in pomegranate red with a western denim shirt. Both fit true to size; I’m wearing a 10 in the skirt and a medium shirt.

The corduroy skirt also comes in a pretty deep moss green. It hits me right above the knee, and remember, I’m 5’8″. But this skirt is available in petite, plus and plus petite sizes, as well. I completed this look with the Tish horse bit leather riding boots in the extended calf option. They fit true to size and feel great on. They’re also easy to get on and off.

Again I wore the floral scarf at my neck. And I’ve worn the Talbots classic hoop earrings in all three outfits.

I would wear all three of these corduroy outfits for lunch with friends, a fall day trip with my husband, a casual church service or a matinee movie. And I think these three looks are also appropriate for many work environments where the goal is comfort, a little polish and good style.

Don’t forget, Talbots is having their Friends & Family Winterfest with 30% off your entire purchase, so this is a great day to shop for corduroy, but also all other things fall and winter. I’ve gathered these and other favorites from the New Arrivals in the shopping boutique below.
Thanks so much for dropping in for a little style inspiration. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day
Wisdom does not necessarily come with age. It’s true that the older we get, the more we experience. And experience can certainly be a teacher. But unless we take the time to truly learn the lessons along the way, we have not gained anything other than…experience.
When was the last time you asked God to teach you something from your current or recent experiences? I’ve discovered that if I will ask Him to show me the precious lessons that I need to understand, He will graciously break them down for me. Often it’s as I’m out for a walk, driving to a familiar place or washing dishes, that God opens my eyes to the wisdom I need to hold onto from my recent experiences. These are moments worth noting.
Therefore, this is what the Lord says:
“If you return, then I will restore you—
You will stand before Me;
And if you extract the precious from the worthless,
You will become My spokesman.
They, for their part, may turn to you,
But as for you, you are not to turn to them. ~ Jeremiah 15:19

Thank you for what you said about wisdom.
I notice over and over how styles come back. First year of college wore 2 pair of corduroy pants over and over, light beige and beige. When I see these corduroy pants today, that’s all I
can think of—those pants, style has returned.
Hi Kay, I agree about the beautifulness (not really a word) of the corduroy pants–esp. the burgundy and navy.
A question…in the relaxed fit, I am wondering what is the circumference of the leg from below the knee to just above the ankle? I wear an AFO (ankle-foot orthotic) with the strap-device hitting a couple inches below my knee. It can be difficult finding wide enough legs to clear that extra circumference added to my one leg (that uses it).
Thank you for your help in so many ways to help us stay modern. An acquaintance that I saw in the groc. store a couple days ago remarked, “You look like a teenager!” She was sweetly being kind. (She didn’t look at my well-used 74 year-old hands! Ha,ha!)
God bless, Janie
Beautiful outfits! I especially love the first one-such a pretty blouse!
You are right-if we ask and listen, God will teach us what He wants to teach us. His love is amazing and abounding.
What can I say but I love your devotional message every day. You should think about putting them in a book. I know they help me to look deeper into scripture. My favorite pants are the dark burgundy. I like the loose fit. I like the flare ones you linked to but not available in burgundy in my petite size.
Love the way you styled you corduroys. It is going to be low to high 70’s here in my part of Minnesota for the next week or so. We could a freeze last week one night and killed plants. There goes the rest of my garden. Here comes Indian summer for a while yah! Will hold off wearing my corduroys from last year for a while but love the new season colors. Might have to buy one pair in the one of the new colors. Have a beautiful weekend.
These are all lovely outfits and the colours are beautiful – you’ve inspired me to return to corduroy! Thank you for including the print blouse – I really like the touch of whimsy with those cuffs. I’m also leaning in to the square scarves that seem to be everywhere this season and the Gathered Leaves scarf would be very versatile.
Love the corduroy pants with the jean jacket the best of the three looks you showed. 🙂
Kay,
I just want to thank you so much for sharing the San Edelman shoe brand, because I have bought three pair of one of their sling back pumps and a pair of loafers. I am so extremely grateful because that’s my favorite type of heel and they fit wonderfully, with no pain. Because of the slight size difference in the length of my feet, this is my go-to for heels. At 70, it’s also not too tall a heel, so I don’t feel I may fall. The loafer leather feels like butter and there’s not one part of the inside of the shoe that bothers me. So, God bless you, if for no other reason, than for recommending this brand.
Oh I’m so glad you found some shoes that work for you. I know what a big deal that is. Thanks for letting me know. I’m so glad I could provide a little help. 😊
