You know I love a good blazer. I don’t always buy a coordinating pair of pants or skirt to wear with the blazers in my closet. But every so often it’s wise to take to the plunge and complete the set. Not only are matching suit sets on trend right now, but they’re a smart purchase that will multiply the wearability in your wardrobe. I’m showing my new Veronica Beard matching set, but I’ve collected more than a dozen others in a wide range of style aesthetics and price points to share, too.

Yes, you read that right. Matching sets are so on trend. And that applies across the board, from coordinating workout and leisure separates to skirt and sweater combos to trousers and blazers that match. In fact, as I prepared for this post and looked for other options to recommend, I noticed that many of our favorite brands now have a tab in their menus that points to where you can quickly locate these trending coordinated pieces. For instance, you can check out the Talbots matching sets here. By the way, most matching suit “sets” are not actually sets at all, but sold as separates.

When I decided to purchase the Veronica Bearden Nalani dickey jacket this fall, I opted to also try out their coordinating Netta pant in the same heather russet. These matching separates are also available in a beautiful, classic heather grey. (Hold me back, Bessy!) I find both pieces (sold separately) to run true to size; I’m wearing a 10 in both. (Note: I wear a size 8 in all other VB jackets, but had to get the 10 in this one for enough room across the top of my back.)

Not only do I love the versatility of a Veronica Beard dickey jacket (because you can completely change the look with the insertion of one of their dickeys), but they’re also extremely well-crafted and comfortable. The quality is pretty off the charts. Still, they are an investment. They don’t have a jacket comparable to the one I’m wearing today, but Quince does have some nice blazers with the insert function, too.

I completed my matching suit set with a simple white tank top, and then I did add that brown cashmere dickey for a more casual vibe. So yes, you can wear your matching suit sets in a variety of ways, from party-ready to weekend vibes, from Sunday best to ladies lunch. You do you with your matching suit sets!

You’ll find matching suit sets with full length pants, skirts, dresses and ankle length pants, like mine. I love the versatility of these ankle length pants because I can wear them with an assortment of shoes. I’ve shown them here with my new croc embossed chocolate brown loafers (more economical option) above and my brown suede pumps below. (Use code SF-KAY-15 at Sarah Flint for 15% off.) And later I can wear booties with a narrow shaft under these pants.

I can actually even wear the Nalani blazer in this matching suit set buttoned up by itself. I’m not sure I will, but I can. Ha! But it is smart to look for matching suit set separates that will give you the most versatility in your wardrobe. Look for coordinating separates that fit your personal style aesthetic (learn more HERE) and your real lifestyle (learn more HERE).

While some trends come and go, I think investing in a matching suit set is more of a sure thing. Even if you ever begin to feel like wearing the coordinates together is passe, you’ll still be able to wear them separately with confidence. I’ve collected so many great matching suit set separates in the shopping boutique below. And the prices range from amazingly affordable to sizeable investment. But click through what you like because you just may be surprised at the affordability of some of these. Oh, and I’ve included some beautiful options for the holidays, too.

Blessed for My Day
This week I read a wonderful little devotional by Dr. Charles Stanley about enriching your prayer life. He suggested three principles that can help us have a more vibrant and satisfying relationship with God.
First we need to regularly call out to God, expressing our hearts to Him and sharing our needs. Next, Stanley suggests that we must exercise faith in prayer. Do you really believe that God will answer you? It helps me to frequently reflect on the ways God has answered my prayers in the past and walked me through difficult times. And finally, Stanley reminds us to remember that God sees the big picture while our understanding of our circumstances is finite, limited. We can trust that He will answer our prayers and direct our hearts in the way that is truly best, not just the way that seems best to us.
“This is what the Lord says, He who made the earth, the Lord who formed it to create it, He whose name is the Lord: ‘Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ ~ Jeremiah 33:2-3

I love these verses from Jeremiah. Like what Lucy picked out for the outfit for less from Banana Republic if they weren’t wool. Allergic to wool. Have to look around for something else. Have a great weekend!
Matching suit sets not for me. Too matronly-looking. I’m still a jeans and sweater girl at 72!
I love the brown suede shoes and the examples of matching sets. Recently I’ve enjoyed re-reading the posts from the Define Your Style series and I’ve revisited How to Dress for Your Personality. I’m realizing that, while classic is one of my style angles, not every classic garment is “me”. For example, I don’t particularly like a classic white button up shirt but I have one with ruffles on the front placket and around the stand up collar (feminine style essence applied to a classic perhaps?) I would be interested in more posts about how to dress a given style essence. Thanks!
