As I was putting together blog posts for this week, I noticed a reoccurring theme in my content. Each day I am highlighting items that just happen to be in some of the trending fall fabrics for 2024. So yeah, I made a banner and I’m unofficially calling this Fall Fabric Trends 2024 Week. LOL! But truly, like never before I’ve noticed that fabric choices have taken a front seat in the fall trends. So today I’m featuring one of those trending fabrics in a fall outfit formula that always looks polished.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
Trending Fall Fabric
Looking at the photo above, do you know what trending fabric I’m highlighting today? If you guessed charmeuse, you got it! I’m seeing both silk charmeuse and synthetic blend charmeuse garments everywhere for fall. And I’m here for it! What about you?

Charmeuse is a satin-woven, lightweight fabric with a shiny finish and a dull back. The name comes from the French word for “female charmer,” and the fabric is definitely associated with feminine mystique and elegance. This somewhat glamourous fabric can be made from silk, polyester, rayon or a blend of threads. Many of the garments I’m seeing also feature some stretch in the fabric, and most can be washed in the washing machine on the delicate cycle with cold water and mild detergents. But I’d avoid the dryer and lay flat to dry on a rack instead. You can then iron on a low setting and/or steam for a pretty finish.

My soft satin charmeuse blouse from Talbots is indeed lightweight and has a lovely drape and sheen. It fits true to size for a very comfortable fit. And this pretty blouse is available in misses, petite, petite plus and plus sizes, as well as several other pretty colors. And Talbots also has the same blouse (from what I can tell) in a nice leopard print.

My favorite way to wear a satin-finish top is with jeans and classy shoes, for a decidedly elevated casual look. I love the juxtaposition in this kind of combination. But of course you can wear this charmeuse top with dressier pants and skirts, too. I’m wearing mine with my straight leg jeans from Talbots.
I’ve created a shopping widget for you below with a wide variety of charmeuse options. You may just want to look through it to get an idea of how this fabric is trending for fall and winter. I expect it to be the go-to fabric for holiday attire.
Read on for the fall outfit formula that always looks polished, especially with charmeuse.
The Fall Outfit Formula that Always Looks Polished
I think these charmeuse blouses look gorgeous and very on trend alone. But when it’s time to layer, you can’t go wrong with the fall outfit formula that always looks polished.

Double up the color of your top – whether it’s a charmeuse blouse or sweater or tee – with the same color of cardigan or jacket for a no fail look. This combination is always cohesive, easy on the eyes and oh so polished. I’m wearing my toasted coconut charmeuse blouse with the Talbots double breasted duster cardigan in the same color.

I completed my look with cognac accessories and leopard print slingback pumps. Neither my belt nor handbag are available anymore, but I’ve linked to similar items below.

My pumps fit true to size and wear very comfortably. I actually have four pairs of these now in different colors and fabrications.

If you’re interested, you can shop this look through the words in the photo caption above or through the shopping widget below. Thank you so much for stopping in for a little style inspiration today. Come back tomorrow for another trending fall fabric!

Blessed for My Day
“Everybody behave now!” Do you ever feel like you need to shout this out loud? Maybe you’re at lunch with friends and the talk turns to gossip. Or you’re taking a lunchtime walk with a co-worker and the conversation ebbs toward criticism of fellow staffers. Or maybe you’re at a family gathering and, uh oh, someone mentions the upcoming election. You see things going south fast and the current is strong. If you don’t start going against the tide, you’ll soon get caught up in all the ugly.
When the conversation goes bad I’ve learned I have three choices. I can try to change the subject and the tone of the talk. Or I can excuse myself from the gathering if needed. But sometimes it absolutely is our place to speak up and call a halt to the criticism, gossip, slander or murmuring. We’re best off to admit our own fault in the situation, too, of course. But it’s okay to be the brave soul who says enough is enough and, “let’s talk about something else now.”
To sum up, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, loving, compassionate, and humble…~ 1 Peter 3:8

Kay, I would love to see a tutorial on how you style your hair. It is darling! Have a great time in Texas!
Thanks Liz. This video is pretty much how I style it. https://youtu.be/_P84Ykl0-og But I do have an updated one coming out in October.
Good advice in your devotional! How often we get caught up, as older women we need to be an example of loving godly talk.
Oh Kay that outfit is so feminine and lovely , love that champagne coloured satin blouse it’s to die for ! And the leopard print kitten heels make the jeans so elevated ❤️. Your BFMD Absolutely right gossip can be cruel and harmful Xx
Love the charmeuse blouse with the sweater. Just as I have replaced some of the career blazers, embraced waistline belts and loose tucked tops to define my shape, it appears that large oversized tops, tunics over leggings and duster length sweaters are making a come back. Perhaps it justifies claiming the second and third closets of the house to retain yesterdays fashion trends. hmmm.
Yes, I love the satin, silky blouse with jeans or trousers! TIP: You can find this blouse in real silk (not poly) in 11 colors at Quince for $70! That’s a real find! I have two of them in different colors…I’m a regular Talbot’s customer, but find the quality and prices at Quince are terrific for cashmere and silk items.
Yes, I linked to several Quince satin items in the shopping widget in the middle of the blog post. They are very nice quality.
I haven’t tried Quince’s silk shirts, but unfortunately their color selection is lacking. They don’t offer anything similar to the color that Kay featured in this post.
Kay, the color of the blouse is so flattering on you! You look lovely!
Clean, classic, chic. Nice outfit! Good devotional, too.
