Happy October! Now I really feel like we are into fall. What about you? I’m typing up today’s blog post in beautiful Door County, Wisconsin, and it’s a chilly 57 degrees. The leaves began to magically change (seemingly right before our eyes!) yesterday to shiny hues of orange, crimson, gold and brown. Just lovely. But before we move too far into the tenth month of the year, let’s run through a few of our favorite things from September, 2024.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. A Few of Your Favorite Things
At the close of each month, I have my assistant Lucy run the analytics and discover for us the top 8-12 top sellers at Dressed for My Day. Now we can’t actually tell what anyone purchased, but based on the links shopped through the most we have a pretty good idea of what resonated with readers and viewers at my YouTube channel. So here I’m sharing those findings. These are the items that piqued the most interest at Dressed for My Day during September.

By the way, as I write this post I’m learning about these top 9 best sellers along with you. So fun! I’m sharing them in order from number 9 to number 1. Let’s go!
Unity Platform Sneakers
Woohoo! I’m so glad to see these super comfortable Paul Green Unity platform sneakers in our list of popular items. I’m wearing these today, in fact.

I purchased my Unity platform sneakers in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and have been wearing them frequently ever since. The best news? They’re marked down again, so you can get them and enjoy them, too.

I have them in white and sand biscuit combo. They run true to size and have a 1 1/2″ platform, so they’re perfect for wearing with long, wide leg jeans, among other things.
Sweater Polo
At number 8 we have the ultra soft J.Crew polo sweater I shared in this previous blog post. I actually have this sweater in the heather heliotrope shade, too. It reads like a soft lavender.

I like the slightly cropped length of this pullover. It’s the perfect length for wearing over higher rise pants and jeans. It runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium. It also comes in heather evening (blue) and serene spruce (green).
Marled Double Breasted Blazer
Ahh, another Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchase! This marled double breasted blazer is the perfect weight for fall. And if you’re in a more temperate climate, you’ll be wearing it into the winter, too. It feels casual but elevated.

The jacket is marked down again in this black marled, but it’s only available in limited sizes. They have a new camel version out, too, and it’s in more sizes but not marked down. The jacket runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium.
Holly Ruffle Faux Leather Jacket
This Cinq’ a Sept Holly ruffle faux leather jacket is a surprise at number 6. It’s spendy, for sure. But it sure is lovely. I like that the puffed sleeves turn this cropped moto jacket into a more feminine topper.

The faux leather jacket is also available in black and a beautiful ivory. I have no doubt that this short sleeve jacket will also look sharp in the spring as well. And I have a feeling I can wear it several years, at least, without it looking dated.
Double Breasted Cardigan
Now I’m not at all surprised to see this beautiful double breasted cardigan on our list. The toasted coconut heather shade is the perfect neutral camel, soft and not yellow at all. I love it with the satin blouse in the same color. But I’m sure I’ll wear it with other neutrals like black and white, as well as prints.

The double breasted duster runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium.
Denim Trouser Jeans
Yes! These denim trouser jeans are on my list, too! I get compliments every time I wear them. They elongate and slenderize. Who doesn’t want that???

The jeans run very true to size for me; I’m wearing a 30. (For reference, I tend to size up in most premium denim, down at Talbots at Madewell, but wear my true size almost always at J.Crew.) They do also come in petite and tall lengths. See the original post for more details.
Button Cable Knit Sweater
This button cable knit sweater doesn’t disappoint. It’s super soft and has a flattering silhouette. It comes in a lot of other beautiful colors, too. I’m wearing the maple oat heather.

The sweater is a nice thickness, not too heavy, just right.
Soft Satin Charmeuse Blouse
Ahh, here’s the soft satin charmeuse blouse that I wear under that cardigan! Wouldn’t you know it? Ladies, these satin finish blouses are everywhere this year! And we’re seeing satin dresses and pants, too.

This blouse is not silk, but it is lovely. It fits true to size. Talbots is offering 40% off until noon with $5 shipping. Maybe they’ll extend that offer…since I’m running late with this blog post. Ha!
Polo Cardigan
No surprise that here’s another Talbots favorite. I know my readers and viewers love Talbots! The polo cardigan is stretchy and accommodating, but it’s also slenderizing and super comfortable.

You can wear this polo cardigan a little dressed up, like I did here, or more casually with jeans. Oops! I just saw that it’s almost sold out. Well, no wonder. It was our number 1 top seller and you ladies bought a LOT of them!
Kay’s Favorite Things

Now let’s check out a few of my favorite things from September. These are items I purchased or really enjoyed wearing a lot in the month.
Quince Kick Flare Jeans
I have a big surprise for you tomorrow. So many of you have begun to shop from Quince and you love it for good quality at affordable prices. Well, tomorrow I have a sponsored video with them. Yay!!! That’s when you’ll see me wearing these Quince kick flare jeans.

These jeans have only the slightest kick flare really. They read more like a relaxed straight jean to me. But they fit so comfortable and feel great. Silky smooth denim with just the right amount of stretch. I’m loving these jeans. And guess what? In true Quince fashion, these premium quality jeans are only $50. What?!?
Frank & Eileen Mini Belfast Jacket
I’m also loving my Frank & Eileen mini Belfast jacket this fall. I purchased this in September, but I’ve worn it several times each week already. It’s sporty, casual, soft and cozy. I’ve got it on the trip with me, and it’s great for travel.

The Mini Belfast is no longer available in this red, but it comes in other great colors for fall. It runs true to their size chart. I wear a large.
Frank & Eileen Corduroy Dress
I also love my Frank & Eileen corduroy dress. In fact, I’m wishing I’d brought it on my trip, too. It would have been great to wear today. Hmm, lesson learned!

I’m wearing a medium in this Italian corduroy dress. It’s supposed to be a very roomy fit, which I happen to love. But if you prefer, definitely add a belt.
J.Crew Denim Trouser Jeans
Yes, the J.Crew denim trouser jeans are on my favorites list, too. In fact, I wore these at LTK Con and I wore them to speak in at the women’s retreat this past weekend. Because they’re long and full, they’re easy to dress up with a pretty silk blouse.

Like I said above, the denim trouser jeans run true to size; I wear a 30. But I don’t think I mentioned above that they also come in other rinses HERE.
Portland Leather Goods The Market Tote
Portland Leather Goods reached out to me in September and wanted me to try their bags. I have fallen in love. I received this market tote and this Devan bucket bag. Both are great! My market tote doesn’t have a closure, but they have some that do.

Ooh! and I just discovered that you can use code FALL30 to get 30% off today!
Dior Lipstick in Pink Bow
I’ve been getting so many compliments on my lipstick lately. I’ve been wearing the Dior hydrating lipstick in shade Rose Des Vents a lot. In fact, I’ve almost run out of it! So when I was in Nordstrom the other day I thought I’d drop in and get a refill, but they were out. So I purchased the Dior in Pink Bow…and I like it even better!

Pink Bow doesn’t read pink to me at all. It’s really pretty with all the burgundy I’m wearing lately, but also works nicely with red. It’s just a beautiful color, and the lipstick goes on so silky, soft and shiny. Love!
Quince Mongolian Cashmere Sweater
Ahh, here’s another Quince preview of tomorrow’s YouTube video. Be sure to watch it! In fact, I’m wearing this Quince Mongolian cashmere sweater today as I tour a couple of small towns in Door County. And yes, this beautiful cashmere sweater is also just $50!

Quince upgraded their cashmere this year. I thought it was pretty good last year. But I have to admit, this sweater feels more like a Vince cashmere sweater to me. They actually increased the amount of cashmere in their garments by 20%. That’s pretty impressive. And they are indeed softer, thicker and more resilient. I’m quite impressed. I did size up to a large in this cashmere pullover for a more generous fit.
LilySilk Front Wrap Dress
I liked this LilySilk dress when I shared it in this recent YouTube video, but I came to love it when I wore it to a cocktail party at LTK Con in Dallas. It was perfect for the Quiet Luxury theme for that party. Unfortunately, I failed to take a photo that night. (Some influencer I am!) But you can see me wearing it in a brief Instagram video HERE.

The front tie wrap dress is silk, of course, and also available in a lovely dark green. It fits true to size; I wear a medium. And I think this dress is one I’ll have in my closet for years, wearing it to similar parties, weddings and other celebrations.
Thanks so much for dropping in today. Let me know if you purchased any of these September favorites. I’d love to hear from you today!

Blessed for My Day
Are you worried about things? Maybe relationships that are fraying in your family, health concerns, the political climate in our country, financial stresses? There are so many things that weigh on our hearts and minds. Life can start feeling a little scary.
But each morning as I read God’s Word I’m calmed and assured. There I’m reminded that our God is in covenant with His people. He has promised to be with us, to walk with us through every situation, and to show us compassion and tenderness. We can rest in the security of His promises, His character and His ways. Be sure to read the Bible daily, dear friend. It will comfort you like nothing else can.
For the mountains may be removed and the hills may shake,
But My favor will not be removed from you,
Nor will My covenant of peace be shaken,”
Says the Lord who has compassion on you. ~ Isaiah 54:10
Life is a rollercoaster ride, it is good to be reminded that Jesus wins in the end:) Thanks.
I have not purchased any of these but some great ideas. I thought the outfits with you wearing the charmeuse blouse/jeans and the wide leg jean/white blouse were particularly flattering on you!
My favorite was the pretty button shoulder sweater with the “matching” corduroy pants. I love the monotone looks! The beautiful burgundy set was nice too!
Hi Kay. I stumbled across Portland Leather this week but did not order anything. Now that you have done this post about how you like their bags I ordered 2 – the Juliette tote and the Lola crossbody bag. I trust your opinion and know I will like them also. Not sure if you will get credit for my purchases but I did order through this post. Also, are you familiar with Susan Shaw jewelry. She has some beautiful pieces that are reasonably priced. I just ordered the Jerusalem cross and I am looking forward to receiving it. Have a great day!
I have heard of Susan Shaw, but have not ordered anything yet. I’d love to hear what you think. 😊
My favorites: the trouser jeans, the button cable knit sweater, and on you, the burgundy monochromatic outfit. While I didn’t purchase any of these items, they serve as inspiration. Speaking of trouser jeans, I finally found a pair that I made work. Fit well from waist to knee, had my tailor slenderize the trouser part to be more in proportion to me as a petite. They look great! 🙂 Your BFMD, yes, for sure need the Lord’s peace right now. Not watching any political debates. Researched all candidates thoroughly and know where they stand on all key issues. Debates will not change my opinion, whatsoever. Prov 14:34
Great advice to read the Bible every day to keep you from worry and anxiety. I’m disappointed that the JCrew sweater doesn’t have cotton in it. I really like it but I want a cotton blend.
My sister introduced me to Portland Leather bags and I now have two. We both love them and have found the quality to be excellent! Excited to see you sharing them here.
