June 5, 2024

Welcome to Dressed for My Day! It’s my custom to share a few of my favorite things as well as your top sellers from the previous month as we enter into a new one. I’m a few days late due to just returning from vacation, but today I’m revealing a few of our favorite things from May, 2024. I hope you’ll read through and let me know if you purchased any of the top sellers and what you thought about them.

This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links.

A Few of Your Favorite Things in May 2024

The top sellers are pulled from my analytics with LTK, primarily. I do work with a few independent affiliate programs and sometimes we see big interest in those, too. And all I really know from my analytics is the number of times people clicked through a link and it resulted in a purchase. But those purchases may have actually been of something else entirely. So this definitely is not a failproof analysis of the best sellers, but it’s all we’ve got! If nothing else, I know that interest was high for this items.

I always have my assistant Lucy pull these numbers and set up this post for me. So on this Wednesday morning I’m seeing them for the first time. We’re counting down from the number twelve top seller to the number one, and I’m excited to see what they are.

Cotton Gauze Camp Shirt

I’m thrilled to see this cotton gauze camp shirt in the list. I think it’s such a smart buy for the summer. It comes in lots of pretty colors, something for everyone.

The cotton gauze camp shirt does run slightly large. I’m wearing my true size medium and it’s a full, blousy fit. I like the fit, but if you’d like a slimmer fit, you may want to try sizing down.

Linen Boyfriend Shirt

Ooh! Here’s another fun one. You know I love my linen shirts, and this striped linen boyfriend shirt from Talbots is a good one.

In tomorrow’s YouTube video I’m sharing a new style hack for how to tie this shirt at the waist. You don’t want to miss that!

Sabine Shoulder Bag

Uh oh! It’s starting already! Your favorites are lining up with my own. You’ll see this Spartina 449 Sabine shoulder bag in my own list of favorites as well.

This is the sweetest purse. And it’s just the right size to hold my essentials. I love that it has those summery vibes, but it’s not the same old straw bag…which I also love, of course! They were 25% off there for a while. Oh, and it looks like it’s marked down now. Bingo!

Nantucket Slub Sleeveless Dress

Here’s a dress I never did get around to buying, but we shared it as one of my favorites from Talbots’ latest collection. It looks so comfortable and pretty. This Nantucket slub sleeveless dress looks perfect for a casual summer day.

I hope you’ll let us know if you purchased this dress and how it worked for you.

Wide Crop Pants

These wide crop pants from Talbots turned into fast favorites for me, too. I love them in the white, but they’re about sold out. However, they do come in a few additional really fun colors here.

outfit details here // wide crop pants

The pants have just a slight bit of stretch for a really nice fit. I’m wearing a size 10.

Paisley Ruana

I think we shared this Airy Paisley Ruana in a recent video, but I don’t own one myself. It’s a great option for adding a little coverage over your arms without adding heat.

Airy Paisley Ruana

In fact, I think that was the video, the one about How to Hide Your Big Flabby Arms This Summer. (I hate the title of that video, by the way. But I have to title them so that people looking for the information will find them, and that’s the terminology use most frequently in the search engine.)

Greenwich Linen Pants

I’ve really enjoyed my Greenwich wide leg linen pants this spring, and I know I’ll wear them a lot through the summer, too. They are lined, but the lining feels silky soft and lightweight.

These are just a staple in my closet for slightly dressed up looks. By the way, you can presently Buy One Get One 50% off at Talbots.

Pearl Stretch Bracelet Set

How fun that this Pearl stretch bracelet set is in the list. I think they’re so sweet. These stretchy bracelets are great to travel with this summer, too.

Pearl Bracelets

And this set makes a nice birthday gift as well.

100% European Linen Jacket jacket

Here’s another item we shared in a recent video or blog post that I do not own. But I’m always thrilled to see these options show up in the top sellers list. That tells me that readers are taking my ideas and suggestions and then shopping those items in silhouettes, price points and colors that suit them best.

100% European Linen Jacket jacket

I have loved everything I’ve gotten from Quince so far. They’re a great source for more affordable but still elevated basics, such as cashmere sweaters, linen pants and obviously this 100% European Linen Jacket jacket. I bet it’s a good one! And I’m seeing linen jacket options like this everywhere – so on trend.

Endless Cargo Jogger

Hahaha! I don’t think I listed these Endless Cargo Joggers in my own list of favorites, but I absolutely should have. I wore these pants almost every single day of my 3-week vacation in Alaska, including my travel home day. I do have two pairs of them, but I wished I had three.

endless cargo pants // outfit details here

They look a little worse for the wear in the photo above, but I undoubtedly had my long johns on underneath as well. These endless cargo pants really are perfect for travel, for hiking, for exploring. They look sharp, but they feel great. And I had them washed and dried on the ship and they held up beautifully. I normally don’t put them in the dryer, but I know they did, and they didn’t shrink at all.

Day Crossover Sandal

I’m also happy to see the Everlane Day Crossover Sandal in the list of reader favorites. While I was on vacation I would actually daydream about returning home and being able to wear these sandals again. Ha! They so silky soft and really quite flattering on the foot, for a flat.

Tile White 90's straight leg crop jeans two ways

The crossover sandals fit true to size and come in other colors, too. They do not have arch support or a lot of cushion, but I wear them pretty well even though I’m not supposed to wear flats for very long. And that cognac color is so in!

Washed Linen Hooded Jacket

I have Talbots’ washed linen jacket from last year and it will make an appearance in tomorrow’s YouTube video. So I’m glad to see that many readers are purchasing this hooded version. It looks like this jacket is our number one seller!

washed linen jacket

The washed linen jacket comes in white, soft coral and this pretty chambray blue. Mine ran large and I have a size small. I’ve tried this one on and it fits similarly. Get your regular size for an oversized fit or consider sizing down for a slightly slimmer fit.

A Few of Kay’s Favorite Things in May 2024

I’m excited to share with you a few of my favorite things from May now. These are the items I’m most excited to wear and many of them are already seeing lots of wear time, even though I’ve only had them a short while. I also have a new beauty product that I’m LOVING.

Veronica Beard Skirt

It’s pricey for sure, but I’m just loving my new Veronica Beard Arwen stretch linen skirt. I really wanted to participate in this trend, but I’ve not had a lot of luck with skirts in the past. I do think they can be tricky to wear since you almost always have to tuck your top in to achieve the right silhouette and proportions.

The Trending A-Line Skirt
stretch-linen skirt // linen shirt (more economical) // belt // sandals // necklace // earrings // bracelet // shoulder bag // see original blog post here

But there’s something about the construction of this stretch-linen skirt that makes it look beautiful on the body. It has a lovely drape and fits just right at the waist. It shows up in tomorrow’s video, too. I wear a size 10 in this skirt.

Frank & Eileen Linen Pants in Double Decker Red

I actually have the Wexford wide-leg linen pants by Frank & Eileen in white and cement (beige), too. And I love them all. But I just can’t get enough of this red, especially for summer.

Sometimes Frank & Eileen pants can be a little short on me, but the length of these is perfect for me. (I’m 5’8″.) They have a nice amount of stretch and run slightly large for a very roomy fit. And this red is just so cheerful and fun. I wear a size 10, but might could have gone with a size 8 here.

Colette Wrap Midi Dress

Well, this dress is an obvious favorite because I was showered with compliments the day I wore it to the mall. How fun is that! We’ve shown the Colette wrap midi dress below with the sash that comes with it. I do love this tonal look.

But I actually prefer the dress worn with a cognac belt and shoes. Somehow those cognac accessories just add depth to anything you wear them with.

Sabine Shoulder Bag

Here’s that Spartina 449 Sabine shoulder bag again. I think I’ll carry that bag to lunch today!

Accessorize with Minimal Accessories

It works equally well with jeans and a t-shirt and jacket or a pretty dress.

Clarks Collection Leather Slide Sandals

It had been a while since I’d had any Clarks. I used to wear them all the time. So when QVC reached out with a collaboration, I jumped on it. And these Clarks Collection Reileigh May sandals did not disappoint.

wide-leg linen pants // cotton shirt // Clarks Reileigh May sandals // necklace & earrings (c/o) (Use code KAY20 for 20% off at Penelope) // see original blog post here

If you are looking for some truly soft, comfortable sandals, look no further. These crisscross sandals come in a wide variety of colors (mine are beige) and sizes, including wide options. They fit true to size. They were a daily special and marked down significantly, but now they are back at the regular price. However, if you’re a first time QVC customer, you can use code WELCOMEQ15 for $15 off your first purchase.

Cotton Gauze Camp Shirt

Hahaha! I’d forgotten that I listed the cotton gauze camp shirt in my favorites, too.

Gauze Shirt

It’s just such a great option, especially if you don’t care for linen. And I love this cornflower blue!

All About Backpack

The next three favorites were items I used or wore on my recent vacation. I had heard over and over to have a backpack to carry things on excursions on an Alaskan cruise. This proved to be great advice.

backpack // outfit details here

You have to dress in layers because the weather drastically changes throughout the day in Alaska. So it makes much more sense to carry a backpack than a regular purse. This All About Backpack from Athleta was perfect for me. I really enjoyed the color, the organizational pockets and the way it felt on my back or shoulder. It comes in other colors, too. It’s lightweight and soft.

All About Crossbody Belt Bag

Likewise, I’d heard that having a crossbody is a nice option on the cruise ship. And I completely concur. It seems a little silly to carry around a purse on the ship when you’re, say, just going to the library to read or a lounge to listen to music. So a crossbody belt bag is perfect for carrying your pass card, reading glasses, sunglasses and lipstick.

I used my All About crossbody belt bag every day on the cruise. And even after we disembarked and began our land trip, I found myself using it frequently. It comes in lots of other colors, too.

Seymour Silk Dress

I thoroughly enjoyed wearing my Veronica Beard Seymour silk dress to dinner on our cruise. Of course I’ll share more about our cruise shortly, but I’ll go ahead and let you know now that people absolutely did dress for dinner on this cruise. That’s not to say I saw very many long gowns, but most women did wear pretty dresses or truly special pant ensembles in the evenings. So this exquisite dress felt perfectly suitable and special.

Good news! The Seymour silk dress is indeed pricey, but it is significantly marked down. I love the wildberry color I’m wearing, but it does come in black, too. And because I am very small in the chest, I did not feel like it was too revealing at all. I wore this “bra” and these shapewear with it. Oh, and I’m wearing a size 10.

Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation SPF 15

Ya’ll! I have found a new foundation and I’m in LOVE! I know I’ve changed foundations several times in the past two years, but I have a feeling I’ve found my ultimate choice. I’ve been using Dior’s Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation for about a month now with truly amazing results.

Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation

This foundation goes on beautifully. I apply with this brush and then use the Beauty Blender to set it. A very little bit (one pump) goes a long ways, so I feel okay with the price. The foundation leaves my skin luminous and moisturized. It doesn’t settle into my pores at all, and it looks great hours after I’ve applied it. I’m actually excited to put it on every day! Ooh, and this foundation is currently marked down at Macy’s with code FRIEND. And it’s price matched at Nordstrom.

The 90’s Straight Crop Jeans in Tile White

Finally, I had to include these 90’s straight crop jeans in Tile White. They have just proven to be the best white jeans. They are in fact a creamy white, not really ecru, but not quite bright white. But the fit is so flattering and they’re comfortable, to boot. I wear a 29 in these, so consider sizing down.

So that’s a wrap! Let me know if you purchased any of our top sellers and what you thought about them. I love hearing from you. Have a great day!

Blessed for My Day

If there’s one thing we all need today, it’s encouragement. You’ll never waste a word of encouragement on someone. What does it mean to encourage someone? Break that word down and you learn that true encouragement infuses the other person with courage. So it’s not just bathing them with compliments or assuring them that everything will eventually be okay.

We encourage someone when we remind them who they are in Christ. We give them courage when we share biblical promises that point them to a God who loves them and provides their every need. And we give them courage to move forward when we remind them of what God has done for them or us in the past. How can you encourage someone today? Make it a goal to infuse someone with courage every day.

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:11

    1. Good to know. Yes, they fit me nicely at 5’8″, so I can see that it would be good to cut a little off if you’re shorter. And that’s one of the reasons I love the raw edge.

  1. I bought the Quince linen jacket. Love it! And am thinking about getting the hooded linen jacket from Talbots. BTW, you looked amazing in that gorgeous VB dress!

    1. Thank you so much. I wore that dress after a long day of excursions, so I didn’t feel like I looked my best. But the dress didn’t fail me; it fits beautifully regardless of how tired I was. I’m so glad to hear you love the Quince linen jacket. Good to know!

  2. I didn’t think I would like the cargo pants but you say they are very comfortable, so I’m going to order them! I’m so glad that you guys loved your Alaska vacation! Welcome home!

    1. They are indeed. I did go with my larger size – 10. But I was able to wear my long johns under them very comfortably.

  3. Which under eye concealer are you using with the Dior foundation? I’ve used Clinique Superbalanced foundation for over 30 years and want to try something new. (I guess it’s about time!)
