A Few of Our Favorite Things- February 2024

Happy Friday! And welcome to March…as though I got here before you. Ha! Anyhow, with the passing from one month to the next, it’s a good day to share a few of our favorite things. Let’s check out the top sellers at DFMD from February and I’ll also share a few of my favorite things that I’ve been using or wearing for the past 29 days.

A Few of Your Favorite Things in February 2024

First up, these are the twelve top sellers at DFMD. That simply means that these were the products that people clicked through and made purchases. I actually have no way of knowing what was purchased. But generally, according to the comments and the numbers I see in my analytics, I think it’s safe to say these were, indeed, the top sellers.

In order from the number 12 top seller to the number one, these are some of your favorite things from February 2024.

Dior Eyeshadow Palette

The number twelve top seller comes from my recent video, Spring Makeup Routine for Women Over 50. I’ve been wearing the Dior Diorshow 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 669 Soft Cashmere for a few weeks now, and I absolutely love it.

Reversible Maxi Dress

In this blog post last week I shared that I was looking for a special dress or two to wear for fine dining on our upcoming cruise. I got over 250 comments from readers sharing your opinions about the dresses, and I loved it! The dress that resulted in sales pushing it to the number 11 position in our top sellers was the reversible Diane von Furstenberg dress (also available here).

With this reversible maxi dress you definitely get more bang for your buck. It’s beautiful on both sides. Here’s a look at the other side of the maxi dress.

City Beauty Beyond Masara

Here’s another top seller from last Saturday’s bonus video. At the time City Beauty, the sponsor of the video, was offering 50% off their Beyond Mascara. It really is my favorite mascara for full, well-defined lashes. I wear it daily.

In that video I also shared that I use the City Beauty City Lash ointment on my lashes daily, too. Poplin Short Shirt

The number nine top seller for February is one I purchased just this past week and haven’t actually shown anywhere yet. But it is in next week’s video. So here’s a sneak peek at one of the comfortable and casual but stylish and classy (that may or may not be the title of next week’s video!) outfits I’ll be sharing next Wednesday.

I love this soft, crisp poplin short shirt in the wisteria purple, but I know the other colors are probably nice, too. You could wear a tank underneath for a little warmth if needed. But this cropped length poplin short shirt works really nicely with high waist jeans and pants. Oh, and I definitely recommend the pullover cotton sweater in that same wisteria purple. This sweater fits so beautifully. I also got it in fawn heather, but the other colors are very tempting, too.

Quince Cotton Fisherman Sweater

Speaking of cotton sweaters, it’s nice to see the Quince fisherman sweater come in at number eight in our countdown of the most popular things at DFMD in February. I can vouch for the quality of this fisherman sweater. It comes in a lot of great shades. I’m wearing it in the grey. It runs true to size; I’m wearing a medium.

Sam Edelman Buckle Belt Trench Coat

I also love seeing the Sam Edelman buckle belt trench coat in our lineup. I purchased this trench coat last year and have worn it so much, in fall and spring. It runs true to size. The trench coat comes in some other great colors this year, but I’m wearing the birch from last year.

I do love and wear my full length Talbots trench from a few years back, but honestly this shorter length, simple trench coat fits my lifestyle better. I talked about the importance of that in yesterday’s blog post, by the way. If you’re looking for a trench coat for your more casual lifestyle, I highly recommend this Sam Edelman trench coat.

Fleece Cropped Sweatshirt

I think I’ll wear this fleece cropped sweatshirt today! It comes in at number six in our list of top sellers at DFMD in February. This sweatshirt is so soft and cozy. And I love the roomy fit. I’m wearing a medium.

Patch Pocket Wide Leg Jeans

I could definitely list these patch pocket wide leg jeans from J.Jill amongst my favorites, too. I had them on just yesterday for a bit, and I’m featuring them again in next Wednesday’s video. Oh! And the best news is they are 30% off today!

The jeans fit really nicely true to size, and they are so comfortable. They have a high rise (but not extremely high) and they’re a full length. Remember, I’m 5’8″, so you can see where they fall on me.

Collared Zip Cardigan

This collared zip cardigan was the first purchase I made from Talbots’ newest collection. I love the bright orange and pink combo. And I purchased this particular lady jacket because I like the fact that it has a zipper rather than buttons. That feature just resonated with me for some reason.

The front zip lady jacket runs a little roomy and boxy, so I sized down to a small for a closer fit. It’s nice zipped up now, but I’ll probably open it and wear it over a tank top later.

Pearl Wash Straight Leg Jeans

From that same blog post comes our number three top seller, the pearl wash straight leg jeans. I love these straight leg jeans because they have a slim fit up top but a relaxed fit in the leg. I also love the ankle length and the raw edge hemline.

The straight leg jeans run true to size; I’m wearing a size 8 comfortably. They pair nicely with sneakers, sandals or even heels, like I’ve worn above.

Pintuck Flare Leg Jeans

Here’s a fun pick at number two. The pintuck flare leg jeans from Talbots are such a modern choice. I really appreciate the longer length of these very opaque white jeans.

Surprisingly for white jeans, these jeans do indeed fit true to size for a very nice fit. I’m wearing a size 8.

Southampton Pants

And our number one top seller at Dressed for My Day during the month of February is the Talbots Southampton pants. Yay! I LOVE these pants. I have them in camel and black. I do hope you’re enjoying yours as much as I am mine.

By the way, I did finally iron mine. Ha! They have a wrinkle or two across the legs in the photo above, but I’ve pressed it out nicely since then. I love that I can wear these Southampton pants both casually and more elevated. Really my favorite way to wear them is more casually, like I did below.

So many options! And I find the black Southampton pants give me the same versatility. They are very different from Talbots’ Hampshire ankle pants, by the way. They have a higher waistline, a fuller leg and a longer length. The fabric is perhaps just a little lighter weight, too, but not much. They run true to size; I wear an 8. I personally do not recommend the white Southampton pants. They were too sheer in my estimation.

And now let me tell you about a few of my favorite things. I actually created my list before my assistant Lucy ran the analytics on your favorites. So there is some overlap.

But these are truly the things I’m wearing, using and loving. And I’m actually introducing some new items here, too.

Air Fryer

James and I purchased the Instant Pot Vortex 5 Quart Single Basket 4-in-1 Air Fryer Oven as part of a sponsored blog post with Walmart. But the item was not gifted, we purchased it. And James has cooked with it most every day since! Yeah, we started off in this blog post cooking party foods, but we very quickly progressed to healthier fare.

He’s cooked brussels sprouts (amazing!), sweet potato chips for me, baked potatoes, and more. He’s really been enjoying browsing the Internet for healthy recipes to use with it, and he loves that it cooks faster than the oven. And I’m loving the foods he is making for me!

Quixx

We’re a big board game family. Always have been. And while we all love the more serious and longer-play strategy games, we also enjoy some of the quick-play, simple games. Our son and daughter-in-law introduced us to That’s Pretty Clever a while back. They frequently play it in the mornings over their coffee. After playing it, my husband found Quixx (and here).

Two to five participants 8 and above can play a game of Quixx in about 30 minutes or less. I love that it’s fun for the whole family, easy to learn and no assembly required.

Like Daniel and Stephanie with their quick morning games of That’s Pretty Clever (which is fairly similar and just as much fun), James and I sometimes play a quick round of Quixx with our coffee. Or we’ll play a quick game before dinner. It’s loads of fun and requires just the right amount of thought and strategy.

Maeve Bennet Button Down Shirt

When Abigail and I did just a little shopping last Friday, she introduced me to the Maeve Bennet button down shirts at Anthropologie. She says she’s been wearing them for a while and loves them. Evidently it’s a shirt Anthropologie generally has and often introduces new colors.

I got this soft pink shirt and have already worn it a couple of times. So soft and cozy, but also very stylish and fun to wear.

Veronica Beard Goody Bag

Y’all. This is crazy. But the other day I got a handwritten note from “the Veronicas” (the two sisters-in-law of Veronica Beard) thanking me for being one of the first 100 people to purchase one of their new handbags. Hahaha! Well that’s because I got a notification a couple of days before they were on the website inviting to shop their secret page of them. I imagine they opened that up to anyone who has an account on the website. And it took me no time at all to find more than one that I like.

I also purchased the black crest lock trap bag and I carried it a couple of times this past week. But the Veronica Beard Goody Bag in natural hazel is definitely my favorite. This is Veronica Beard’s first handbag collection, and they knocked it out of the park. I find them to be priced comparably to other similar brands (think Tory Burch, Coach, Kate Spade, etc.). And the quality is stellar.

Eileen Fisher Linen Shirt

I’m not really wearing linen a lot yet, but I’ve worn this long sleeve linen button-up shirt from Eileen Fisher in several videos already. And I can’t wait to wear it more soon.

I love the color, but it also comes in others. And I also appreciate the fullness of the sleeves, the squared off shirttails and the side vents. Great linen button-up shirt! And I definitely recommend the coordinating pink cotton tee, too.

Dior Eyeshadow Palette in 649 Nude Dress

Yeah, the Diorshow 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 669 Soft Cashmere was already on my list of February favorites before Lucy told me it was one of yours, too. Again, I’ll just refer you to Saturday’s video to see how this palette does.

Sam Edelman Slingback Pumps

I’ve purchased a number of pairs of new shoes for spring, but so far my favorite pairs are the Sam Edelman slingback pumps. I have them in this gorgeous gold leaf, shown below…

and a lovely cappuccino suede, shown below.

Slingbacks and kitten heels are so on trend right now, and these shoes check both boxes. Add the fact that these slingback pumps come in so many beautiful colors, skin tones and textures, and you have the perfect elevated spring shoe. And they walk and wear very comfortably to boot! They fit true to size.

Levi’s Jeans

Now here’s a surprise. I had not had great luck with Levi’s jeans in years. So I had really low expectations when I ordered these from Kohl’s. But these Levi’s classic straight leg jeans in Lapis speed have fast become real favorites.

I rarely reach for jeans when I want to be truly bum-around-the-house comfortable. But I’ve been wearing these jeans frequently, both at home and out and about. They feel like jeans used to…but better! I wear a size 10, but they are quite roomy.
