March 29, 2022

March is a long month, but it’s quickly coming to a close later this week. So I’m trying to get back on track with sharing our favorites within the final days of each month rather than waiting until the next. Today I’m sharing the items I’ve enjoyed using or wearing in the month of March, as well as the top products purchased by my readers and YouTube viewers. First I’ll share my March Favorites and then I will share yours.

Our March 2022 Favorites

Each month I like to look back and consider the products, fashions and, sometimes, services I used and especially loved that month. This helps me to stay on track in building my personal wardrobe and creating my signature style. It also motivates me to evaluate my spending patterns and make adjustments as needed. You might want to do the same!

Copy of Our March 2022 Favorites

Each month when I do this little exercise I’m surprised to find that a sort of theme has materialized. I don’t know why I’m surprised; I tend to think in terms of themes all the time! Ha! Anyhow, this month the theme is investment. Yeah, these favorites of mine seem to all be quite pricey. At first I felt apologetic about that. But then again, I’m keeping it real here. These are truly my personal favorites. I’m not trying to push them on you at all. These are just the things I’m honestly enjoying most.

March Investments
1) Navy (also in black) Miller Dickey Jacket (also at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue) 2) Striped Collared V-Neck Sweater 3) Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress 4) Eyekeeper 100% Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses 5) Necessaire The Body Wash and Necessaire The Body Lotion (gifted) 6) Frame Le Sylvie High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans 7) Crocodile Print Tote Bag 8) Ally Tender Taupe Patent Leather Kitten Heels (gifted) 9) QYO Hydroponics Growing System 10) Tory Burch Jessa Woven Slip On Loafers

And I do tend to invest more in my wardrobe at the beginning of seasons rather than the end. I still scout for sales or good offers and never buy anything at full price, but I do purchase more substantial pieces at the beginning of a season when I can use and/or wear them more. That results in a lower price per wear in the end. So yes, most of my March favorites are investment pieces. Or they are an investment in my well-being. You’ll see what I mean as we go through them.

Navy (also in black) Miller Dickey Jacket

I purchased my Navy (also in black) Miller Dickey Jacket when it was temporarily marked down at Veronica Beard in early March. Or maybe I used a 15% off coupon I found. Hmm. At any rate I got 15% off this amazing stretch knit double breasted blazer. And in the first week of owning it, this dickey blazer earned its keep in my wardrobe. It was the only jacket or coat I took with me to Georgia for a week of events. I wore it with almost everything I packed.

Wearing the Miller Dickey Blazer

I wish I had a photo from James’ camera to share with you, but these are all just “real life” mirror selfies of how I wore the Miller Dickey Jacket throughout my week. I actually also wore it over my green Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress, but failed to get a picture of that pairing. In the first photo above you can see I added the grey hoodie dickey. And for Abby’s first bridal shower I paired it with the Veronica Beard Renzo pants for a completed suit look. The blazer and the Renzo pants are available in navy and black. You’ll find the blazer at Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue, too. I purchased the blazer in my true to size 8, but I sized up to a 10 in the Renzo pants.

Striped Collared V-Neck Sweater

Because it’s been such a cool cold spring so far, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed having a few lightweight, spring sweaters to wear. This Striped Collared V-Neck Sweater from Ann Taylor has been my favorite. I wore it frequently on my recent trip to Georgia, and again yesterday with my white jeans for church.

How I Dressed for My Week
Striped Collared V-Neck Sweater // white straight leg jeans in curvy fit (same in regular fit) // boots are old // two tone necklace // pearl necklace no longer available // earrings

This soft Striped Collared V-Neck Sweater feels like cashmere, but it’s actually a lightweight polyester blend. It fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium. I can comfortably wear one of my camisoles underneath or go without.

Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress

I wore my Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress to Abigail’s second bridal shower and got compliments on it. It’s extremely comfortable and quite versatile. A wrap dress works well for most every body shape and proportions.

Boden Wrap Dress
Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress // See the original post for more details.

This Lavinia Jersey Wrap Dress has a nice amount of stretch in it and the fabric feels substantial but still lightweight. A reader asked if the sleeves are tight. No, they are very comfortable with plenty of stretch. And I love the elbow length.

Eyekeeper 100% Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses

While the three previous items have been garments I invested in, these Eyekeeper 100% Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses are a small expenditure but a big investment in my wellbeing. After mentioning that I had had some luck sleeping better and deeper with these melatonin gummies, a reader emailed me that she had seen significant improvement with her sleep when she started wearing these Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses. In fact, she said that she slept deeper than ever before after wearing them while watching television just one evening.

Blue Light Blocking Glasses
Eyekeeper 100% Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses

And guess what? I did, too! Because they block blue light 100%, they are tinted. Since I am only wearing them in the evening hours when watching television or checking last minute things on m cell phone, I don’t mind that. But if I were purchasing blue light blocking glasses for daytime I would definitely get something more like these. But I like the Eyekeeper 100% Blue Light Blocking Fit-Over Glasses because I can wear them comfortably over my prescription glasses as needed. They are helping tremendously with eye fatigue and sleep.

Necessaire The Body Wash and Necessaire The Body Lotion

I’m counting the Necessaire The Body Wash and Necessaire The Body Lotion (gifted) as one favorite because I’ve been using them together and I’m not sure which I like better. Necessaire reached out to me recently with these products and I’m so glad they did.

Necessaire Body Wash and Lotion
Necessaire The Body Wash and Necessaire The Body Lotion

I see now that I chose photos of the Sandalwood scented body wash and the fragrance free lotion. But I have in fact been using the eucalyptus in both products and enjoying it immensely. I use just a small amount of The Body Wash to create enough lather for a full bath. And the The Body Lotion feels very emulsifying and creamy on my body after bath. The scent is very light and spa-like, but I’m sure the sandalwood is equally luxurious. And they have the scent free if that’s your jam.

Frame Le Sylvie High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans

I actually purchased my Frame Le Sylvie High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans back in July in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And they may have already made one appearance here in my monthly favorites lists. But now that we’re into spring and I’m determined to wear mostly cropped or ankle length jeans, these High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans have become my clear favorites.

Suit Blazer with Jeans and a Tee
High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans // See the original post for details.

I think the wash on my jeans is slightly different from the High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans that are now in stock. But they’re very similar and the cut and fit should be just the same. The Frame Le Sylvie jeans have a high waist (11.75″), a slim straight leg and are created from high stretch premium denim. I love the weight of the jeans as well as the fit. They’ll be perfect for all of spring, summer and again into fall.

Straight Leg Jeans with Sport Sandals

I wear a size 30 in the Frame Le Sylvie High Waist Raw Hem Crop Jeans. These Frame Le Sylvies seem to be similar, too, and they’re marked down at Saks.

Crocodile Print Tote Bag

I purchased the Crocodile Print Tote Bag a couple of months ago when I was previewing spring fashions from Ann Taylor. I’m a little surprised at how frequently I’m reaching for this midsize, tall tote.

Taupe Accessories for a Green Dress
Crocodile Print Tote Bag // See the original post for details.

This Crocodile Print Tote Bag is just such a nice size. But I also think the light washed tan shade is so versatile for this time of year. Just this past weekend Ann Taylor had everything 50% off. Watch for a similar sale soon.

Ally Tender Taupe Patent Leather Kitten Heels

I’m an ambassador for Ally shoes, so they sent me these Ally Tender Taupe Patent Leather Kitten Heels. But, just like my other Ally pumps, these Patent Leather Kitten Heels are definitely some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.

Ally Tender Taupe Patent Leather Kitten Heels (use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of Ally Heels)

I wore my Ally Tender Taupe Patent Leather Kitten Heels to both of Abigail’s bridal showers and I was very comfortable on my feet for no fewer than four hours each time. But I could have worn them much longer with no trouble. Don’t forget, you can use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of Ally heels or KAYFLATS for 10% off your first pair of flats from Ally. They will work with you to make sure you are fitted correctly, but I did size up to a wide shoe in Ally.

QYO Hydroponics Growing System

I mentioned in last month’s Coffee with Kay post that James had purchased and planted this QYO Hydroponics Growing System in our basement. It was already growing quickly and, apparently, healthily at that point.

Hydroponic Garden
QYO Hydroponics Growing System

In less than a month we were able to harvest enough Romaine lettuce, spinach and Arugula to have a great salad. And it was so much tastier than what I’d been getting at the grocery store. The photo below was taken shortly after we harvested a good bit of greens for two hearty salads.

QYO Hydroponics Growing System

James did swap out a few of the herbs that weren’t doing well for the heartier Arugula and spinach. We’re no longer growing cilantro; it’s just too finicky. And I think he removed the Rosemary, too. But I think if we focus on the makings for a good salad we’ll be happier with the results anyhow. I’m loving our QYO Hydroponics Growing System!

Tory Burch Jessa Woven Slip On Loafers

And the final item on my favorites list is definitely a bit of a splurge for me. I generally only invest this kind of money in boots or nude pumps or other shoes I know I’ll wear for at least several years. But I just couldn’t resist the cheerful blue in these Tory Burch Jessa Woven Slip On Loafers.

Maybe I’m jumping ahead of myself by listing these among my March Favorites. I have indeed worn them around the house enough to know that they are delightfully comfortable. I have to admit, I was a little skeptical. But they feel great. And I wore them to a church meeting last Wednesday night, but I neglected to take a photo.

But I was anxious to share this favorite with you because they are still available right now in this fantastic crisp blue as well as the lovely yellow corn. I wish they were on sale; alas, they are not. And they probably will not be marked down until maybe at the end of the season…if they’re still around. Anyhoo! Just wanted to share. I got my true size 9.5.

These are at least the most popular links that are resulting in purchases. And I have a feeling, most of the purchases have indeed been for these exact items. They’re winners in my book, too!

#5 – CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30

I’m always happy when the top sellers at Dressed for My Day are products or styles that I really love and use myself. It’s important to me that I only recommend things that I truly like and stand behind. That’s definitely the case with this CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30.

Sunscreen
CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30

The CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30 is a mineral sunscreen that is lightly tinted so you don’t get that white face effect. It goes on smoothly and easily. I apply it after my moisturizer and before my foundation primer (or foundation, if I skip the primer). And yes, sometimes I skip the foundation because the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen with SPF 30 really does leave your face looking healthy and radiant, regardless of your natural skin color. I use it on my face and down onto my neck.

#4 – Open Edit Blazer

I really love this Open Edit Blazer for spring and summer. So I’m so pleased that many of my readers and viewers opted to purchase it. I’d love to hear if you bought the same ivory color I have or if you opted for one of the many other colors this Open Edit Blazer comes in.

Ivory gabardine blazer

I find the blazer to fit very comfortably true to size. I’m wearing a medium. It works nicely with jeans as I featured it in this post. But you could wear the Open Edit Blazer over a dress, too. And one of the other colors would look great with white or natural colored jeans or pants.

#3 – Edison Embellished Nappa Flats

I am so very happy that many of my readers and viewers have purchased the Edison Embellished Nappa Flats. Did you purchase the same black and rattan combination I have on here?

Or did you get the ivory and indigo blue combination I also love?

Or did you perhaps buy the blue twilight or indigo blue monochromatic styles? Either way I hope you find them as comfortable and versatile as I do. I think these are shoes you can wear for years.

#2 – BagSmart Large Toiletry Travel Bag

The number two top seller at Dressed for My Day (so far) in March is the BagSmart Large Toiletry Travel Bag that I used for the first time on my recent vacation to Florida. I purchased this BagSmart Large Toiletry Travel Bag last summer, then promptly forgot about it. I’m so glad I remembered I had it and filled it up for our trip. And fill it up, I did!

For my Florida trip I was able to just carry this bag since we travelled by car. But for my Georgia trip I flew, and I was a little concerned about getting this oversized toiletry bag into my suitcase. But voila! It fit just fine, even packed to the gills.

I got Abigail one of these nifty BagSmart Large Toiletry Travel Bags as part of one of her bridal shower gifts, too. It makes a great bridal, graduation, Mother’s Day or birthday gift for the women in your life.

#1 – Dorco Tinkle Demaplaning Tools

And this month’s top seller is the Dorco Tinkle Demaplaning Tools. Well, doesn’t that just serve to reason? As we get older we need a little help keeping the surface of our face fresh, fuzz-free and smooth? Ha! And indeed, I’ve found that the Dorco Tinkle Demaplaning Tools really are easy to use and quite effective.

I shared in this video how this little Dorco Tinkle Demaplaning Tool helps create a smoother surface for more beautiful, silkier makeup application. It really makes a difference!

And that’s a wrap! I’d love to hear from you if you purchased any of these top sellers or anything else you discovered here at Dressed for My Day. Even if something didn’t work well for you, I certainly don’t mind you sharing that…as long as you can be gracious about it, which I know you will be. I know that not everything works for everybody. And I know other readers appreciate you sharing your perspective, whether it’s positive or less so.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I’ll have a new video up tomorrow and we’ll be back here Thursday for my March Coffee with Kay. Please join me for that little visit.

Blessed for My Day

Every day is full of opportunities to either prove our trust in the Lord or demonstrate that we have put our trust elsewhere. Where do you go when you first receive bad news? To whom do you turn when you need wisdom or direction? And what do you do when someone shares something with you that causes you anxiety or fear?

Let’s so focus on the goodness of God and His trustworthiness that we automatically turn to Him with everything…good, bad, in between. Let’s anchor our responses in His character rather than in the emotions that may initially arise in a given situation. And let’s not allow other people’s reactions to steer us in the same directions. If we truly trust that God is able, that He cares and that He is always at work for our good, then we can trust Him every minute of every day with anything and everything we encounter.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. ~ Proverbs 3:5-7

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. Because of you I now have two very happy feet!
Last week, I bought 3 pair of Ally shoes and love them so much! Ally is such a wonderful company to do business with and make the purchasing process easy…which I do like. Thank you for your posts as I have learned so much watching you on YouTube and reading them in email! You are such a lovely person, and your smile lights up my day!!!
    Thank you again,

  2. I purchased the Ann Taylor skirt, the ivory Open Edit blazer and the large Bagsmart travel bag. I am so excited. The blazer hasn’t arrived yet but I LOVE how you styled it. LOVE!! I was crazy about the skirt too but waited for the sale and just got it for less than half price. I am so inspired by you and even though I am a different shape and coloring I can see how the different pieces adapt to whoever you are and whatever body you have. Thank you so much for being an influencer Kay. You inspire me!

  3. Thanks so much for your encouraging BFMD. My day will be better, and I’ll be more of a blessing to others while keeping these truths in my heart.

  4. I purchased the Kelly green dress from Ann Taylor very similar, to this one before you showed this green one. Oh well, it is a nice dress also. I received the Edison Embellished flats in taupe and black. It was a hard decision. I might have to get the navy ones also. Like the Tory Burch shoes, trying to justify the price.
Nice BFMD as usual. Have a blessed day.

    1. Thank you for sharing, Sherry. I still have that other green dress, too. I’m planning to wear it as soon as it warms up a bit. ?

  5. Kay! You are killing my budget!! (Ha). You have such great style and our styles are very similar. I bought the open from blazer fro Nordstrom, the knife pleat skirt from Ann Taylor (on sale, what a deal). I bought the sweet blue and white gingham shirt and bright pink sweater from Talbots along with both the black and blue spectator pumps. I’ve been looking for just the right style in these pumps for years, ones that don’t ride on top of the bone in my great toe. These are the perfect fit. I can see many years of use out of them. I’ve lost them somewhere in my closet so I haven’t worn them out yet. I also bought, a while back, the neutral sleeveless sweater from Everlane. I love it! It’s all beautiful additions and I get so many compliments from my sweet husband! Here’s to elevating your style.

  6. Sadly I had a poor experience with Boden. I ordered the green dress as the color was perfect for an upcoming event. It arrived in a ball stuffed in plastic shrink wrap. It had a terrible odor. I think it may have been a return. I’m ok with purchasing a return as long as it’s been sanitized. I also think if they don’t feel like their items are worth packaging nicely then I’m not sure why I should believe it’s a $130 item. Lastly had customer service issues with return. I won’t ever shop with Boden again. Since it’s a best seller I truly hope others had a better experience.

    1. Oh my. I’m so sorry to hear this. Mine wasn’t packaged especially nice either and I do remember it being quite wrinkled when it arrived. But the wrinkles fell out quickly on their own. But I’m especially sad to hear you had a poor experience with the customer service.

  7. Oh those Tory Burch shoes are GORGEOUS. I’d get the yellow but can’t justify that price tag. There are plenty of similar ones out there at a reasonable price point. You look GREAT in those blue blazer outfits…so classy.
My well-being involves TRAVEL and LOTS OF IT so no “investment” spending on clothes for me. It’s all about making memories with hubby as we’re now retired. I add nice things to my good basics here and there and I’m good with that. At this stage of our lives we’re completely debt free (not even car payments or mortgage! YAY!!) so I’m personally not looking to go into debt buying expensive items I don’t really need. I do love your style and enjoy your outfits for inspiration though. Great job!

    1. Thanks for sharing Colette. I completely understand your financial choices. I always say that everyone spends their money somewhere and it’s different for all of us. We haven’t had a car payment in 20 years ourselves. And we love to travel, but we’re both still working full time for now. Definitely enjoy that travel and making those memories!

  8. Hi Kay!

I bought the two toned Edison Flats at Talbots (Black and Beige) . . . on sale and as I was a new Talbots customer, got another ten percent off. I love them!!!

Thank you for bringing these beautiful shoes to my world!!!

    Susan O.

  9. I bought the cer ve sunscreen. I love it. I know sun screen is important but before this tinted one I didn’t enjoy putting it on. Now I am glad to put sun screen on. And I know I put more on which is better for actual sun protection. I also ordered a spring colored purse that is coming in the mail soon, after watching your spring video.
