Our June 2022 Favorites

July 1, 2022

I like to look back through my photos and think through my purchases at the end of each month and consider what I really enjoyed and used or wore the most. Not only is it fun to share this information with you, but this analysis helps me refine my personal style and build a better wardrobe and makeup drawer. I also like to share the top purchases by my blog readers and YouTube viewers. This helps me see what really resonates with you. So today I’m sharing our June 2022 favorites.

This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links.

Most every month these favorites seem to develop into a theme quite naturally. This month I learned about the Coastal Grandmother style essence, and it really resonates with me. I shared about it in this favorite blog post. I call it a favorite blog post because it actually blew up in search engines and brought me thousands of new readers and hundreds of new subscribers. Yay! And welcome to Dressed for My Day if you’re one of those ladies! I’m so very glad you made your way here.

Anyhow, I noticed that my favorites this month largely fall into the Coastal Grandmother style theme. Remember, the Coastal Grandmother style isn’t just about fashion; but it’s about a lifestyle, a presence, even a pace of life. Let’s see if you agree that my favorites (and many of yours!) fall into this trending category.

My June 2022 Favorites

Linen, Linen Blend & Cotton Gauze Wraps

I couldn’t pick just one, but I’m loving the lightweight wraps I’ve purchased recently. The Eileen Fisher linen scarf is full price still, but you can get it in a pretty buttery color for about 40% off. And I think this is a piece I’ll keep in my wardrobe forever. And the Eileen Fisher cotton gauze scarf is indeed marked down. It’s available in a pretty fig color, too. They’re both so soft and lovely. I wear the cotton gauze scarf quite frequently just around the house even.

Top left, clockwise: Eileen Fisher cotton gauze scarf // Eileen Fisher linen scarf // Cotton Linen Blend Scarf from Amazon

But honestly, the Cotton Linen Blend Scarf from Amazon has its own unique charm. It’s a little lighter weight and definitely more sheer. But it would be perfect to wear over your shoulders for a wedding or other formal affair. And it is available in a host of colors for a fraction of the prices of the others.

I showed these wraps a little in my recent video on a Buildable Travel Capsule Wardrobe for the Frequent Tourist. You’ll see them around time marker 15:37.

4-Layer Cotton Muslin Throw Blanket

I’ve never shared this 4-Layer Cotton Muslin Throw Blanket on the blog or YouTube or anywhere. Ha! I guess I’ve been holding out on you. But no more! I’ve got to tell you, I’m loving this super soft, summery Muslin Throw Blanket. I drape it over me every morning as I have my quiet time and then coffee with James in our morning room.

Muslin Throws
4-Layer Cotton Muslin Throw Blanket

In fact, I think I came across these 4-Layer Cotton Muslin Throw Blankets when I was ordering the Cotton Linen Blend Scarf. I thought it looked like the perfect summer weight blanket, and I was right. It’s crazy soft and very pretty. It came nicely packaged, too. The Cotton Muslin Throw Blankets also come in a few other colors (in fact, I think the white is sold out), and you can get them without tassels (mine has tassels and they’re very pretty) or 6 layers thick, too. The 4-layer is perfect for a summer sofa throw, which is how I use mine. But if you want to use it for more warmth, you might prefer the 6-layer.

I think the Cotton Muslin Throw Blankets would be perfect for draping on a porch swing or rocker, too. Summery fresh!

Long Way Home by Lynn Austin

I enjoy reading a little more than usual during the summer, and I couldn’t put Lynn Austin’s Long Way Home down. This new Christian historical fiction novel shares the stories of several different characters during and after World War II, but from different vantage points than I’ve ever considered before. It’s paced nicely, swapping back and forth between stories that eventually converge, and the characters are nicely developed and realistic.

I’m also enjoying those pajamas above!

The Valley of Vision

I think I shared before about this bonded leather book of prayers in a Coffee with Kay. I’ve enjoyed reading from it since my sweet friend gave it to me for Christmas. But in the last month I’ve started memorizing one of the Puritan prayers in The Valley of Vision, and it has become so meaningful to me.

Admittedly, a few of the prayers are a little archaic in thought. But this is not Scripture, so it’s not infallible. However, this collection of Puritan prayers has been inspiring and though-provoking. I’m in the process (about 3/4 through) or memorizing Morning Needs.

In fact, I think we’ll let that serve as today’s Blessed for My Day. I can’t do any better. And if you’d like to join me in memorizing this morning prayer, you might save the image above to your phone for reference. Or you might want to order your own copy of The Valley of Vision. The bonded leather version, which is what I have, seems to be back in stock.

Okay, let’s move on to more fashion favorites for June.

Travel Wardrobe from Athleta

I know I just shared the video this Wednesday, but I’ve been wearing my travel capsule wardrobe almost every day for the past few weeks. I wanted to check it out and make sure everything really felt both comfortable and chic. And I wanted to see if I got tired of wearing it. Nope. Haven’t gotten tired of these pieces or combinations at all.

Black Polo and Seasoft Pants

And the outfit above with the Brooklyn ankle pant and black on the go polo as well as the look below with the boxy henley from Banana Republic and the seasoft straight pant are probably my favorites. If I’m not careful I could wear these every day!

Sonoma Goods for Life Sneakers

When I ordered these slip on sneakers for a recent Kohl’s collaboration I had no idea I would love them this much. And that’s why I ordered the Rothy’s sneakers as well. But the Sonoma Goods for Life sneakers are just as comfortable as their more expensive counterpart, and maybe even a little softer on the foot.

I especially love that these Sonoma Goods for Life sneakers are in this great nude color, so they elongate the leg visually and work really nicely with shorts and pants. But they do come in other colors, too. They are super comfortable to wear. Ooh! And they’re on big sale!

Linen Stretch Layering Tank

I love all the clothes in the Chico’s resort worthy capsule wardrobe I shared recently, too. But you know I’m more of a neutrals gal at heart. So I don’t find myself wearing most of these very often. However, I do reach for the linen stretch layering tank frequently, as I knew I would.

Resort Worthy Travel Capsule

Unfortunately the white linen stretch layering tank is sold out. But I recently bought the linen stretch layering tank in espresso brown and it is to die for. I’m using it in an upcoming video with these wide leg linen pants and this linen button front tunic cardigan for an up to date coastal grandmother look. What do you think? At any rate the linen stretch layering tanks are really nice for layering under just about anything.

Straw Market Tote

One of these days I’m going to go to link this  J.Crew market tote and it’s not going to be available anymore. In fact, at 50% off with code GOFOURTH I bet it will sell out this weekend. I am thoroughly enjoying this large but oh so nice straw market tote.

Market Tote

I’m just very impressed with the quality of this straw market tote. I see comparable bags that cost much more. And with 50% off, it’s a steal really.

Estee Lauder Eyeshadow Primer

I’ve shared a couple of different eyeshadow primers here and on YouTube in recent months, but I’ve actually returned to an old favorite in recent weeks. I decided that my eyeshadow was looking dark on my eyelids, even though I was using the lightest shades in my pallets. So I am again priming my eyelids with Estee Lauder’s Stay In Place Eyeshadow Base.

I don’t have a photo to share with you here. But I think you might notice that my eyeshadow looked a little more natural in my most recent video. The Estee Lauder Stay In Place Eyeshadow Base (also available at Macy’s) goes on super light and creamy with a flat paddle brush like this one. It does help my eyeshadow go on nicely and keeps it from creasing. I do have to let it dry a bit before applying eyeshadow, but I had to do that with the other primers I was using, too.

Sweater Tanks

I haven’t been sharing my daily outfits lately, mainly because I’ve just been wearing those travel clothes on repeat. Ha! But I’ve also found myself wearing my two sweater tanks a lot. I tend to only wear them alone at home, but often top them with a linen shirt when going out.

5 Ways to Wear Natural Colored Jeans
light blue summer sweater // sandals // plaid tote // necklace // earrings // bracelet // watch (use code KAYHRMS for 15% off) // linen shirt

I have both the light blue summer sweater and the rainbow prism sweater tank. Evereve also has this comfortable summer sweater in natural, but it’s sold out in most sizes. You can leave your email address with them in case the restock. But I find the blue and rainbow sweater tanks to be very versatile.

Denim Shorts with a Summer Sweater

I don’t need to wear a strapless bra with these. My bra straps stay concealed very easily. And the 100% cotton knit is very cool and comfortable.

Well, that’s a wrap for me! Now, let’s take a look at the top sellers at Dressed for My Day during the month of June.

Your June Favorites

Of course, I always say that I can’t really know if these are the exact items my readers and YouTube viewers have been purchasing. But I do know these are the links followers are going through to make purchases. And at the rate these links have been used for purchases, I have to think a good number of them are indeed purchasing these items.

CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen

Well good for you! I’m super pleased to see the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen in the top five sellers for June. I really like this magical sunscreen that works for every skin shade.

Make sure you apply about a teaspoon of the CeraVe Tinted Sunscreen to your face and neck. It blends in nicely and can be worn alone or under your foundation.

10.5″ Perfect Shorts

Evidently a lot of you gained a little courage from my video on 10 Tips for Wearing Shorts Over 50 because a lot of ladies then purchased the 10.5″ perfect shorts I shared.

I think that’s grand!

Linen Demi Boot Pants

The linen demi boot pants have been favorites for at least a couple of months now. These are definitely my favorite linen pants so far. They’re great for dressing up or down.

I have the navy or indigo and the flax colored linen demi boot pants. But I probably prefer and wear my flax colored ones more.

Washed Linen Jacket

The number two seller at DFMD this month was the washed linen jacket from Talbots. I know I love mine.

What I Wore Sunday Shopping

I think the washed linen jacket is a great alternative for the woman who wants a linen jacket but not a blazer. It’s very on trend. And it’s 40% off right now. The flax color is sold out, but it looks like the white, pink and blue are still stocked in most sizes.

Cropped Drawstring Linen Pants

The number one seller during June was the linen cropped drawstring pants from Amazon. I didn’t actually show these here or on the YouTube channel, but did link to them as a more economical option for linen pants. I don’t really like to recommend things I haven’t tried, so when I saw so many people ordering them I ordered some, too.

linen cropped drawstring pants

When mine arrived I was relieved to see that they are indeed decent linen blend pants for the price. Unfortunately mine felt a little snug, so I returned them. I think they would have worked, but I have so many pairs of linen pants that fit great so I didn’t want to keep something I didn’t love. So I would definitely suggest sizing up for a looser fit. But if you’re trimmer than me, that may not be necessary at all.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. And you’re invited to Coffee with Kay tomorrow!
