March 29, 2021

Happy Monday! Can you believe March is almost over? Usually this is such a long month to me, but this year March has truly blown by. And as I realized the month was drawing to a close yesterday, I realized I needed to share with you my favorite purchases and wears for the month. So today I’m listing my March 2021 favorites. These are all products I’ve purchased in the last month or two that I’m really enjoying this month. Let’s get started!

March 2021 Favorites

When I create these favorites posts I start by looking through my closet and bathroom for the things I’m reaching for most often. I also look through the month’s blog post to see what I shared with you, but I really want to land on the fashion pieces, beauty products and accessories that I’m personally crushing over, loving having in my possession and using frequently.

I don’t set out with a theme in mind, but the list almost always develops into one. I think that’s because the selections truly represent my mindset during the month. They reflect what I’m looking forward to, enjoying and needing at the time. So this month’s theme morphed into “trending classics.”

All of these items – minus the beauty products – are classic spring and summer wardrobe essentials, but in modern iterations. In fact, several of them are trending big for 2021. Let’s go!

My March 2021 Favorite Beauty Products

I know I shared these two beauty products in my email subscriber newsletters, but I don’t think I’ve shared them here on the blog. (If you’re not an email subscriber, why not? You can choose to receive emails from me daily or weekly. I provide beauty favorites, links to my posts and videos, top sellers at the blog, coupon codes and sale info. PLUS you get access to all my subscriber freebies. You can subscribe HERE.)

I’ve worn the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating Lipstick before, but this color, Peut-Etre is new to me. It’s a rich rosy pink that’s perfect for my spring and summer wardrobe. If you’re looking for a “mature” pink for spring and summer, this is your stick! Plus the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating Lipsticks are so rich, creamy and long lasting. As I’m writing today’s post, these rich lipsticks are 15% off.

Lancome Lipstick & Tarte Shape Tape
Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Hydrating Lipstick in Peut-Etre #264 // Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer

Many women have sung the praises of the original Tarte Shape Tape Shape concealer for years, but I’d often heard older women say the product was too dry for their mature skin. So I had stayed away. But Tarte recently came out with an ultra rich version of the highly acclaimed under-eye concealer, so I decided to give it a try. And I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I immediately chunked all my other concealers!

The Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer goes on smooth and rich. It is thick enough to offer good coverage over this darkening area under my eyes, but it doesn’t dry out or crust with wear. Plus, the Tarte Shape Tape Ultra Creamy Concealer comes in 35 colors. In case you’re wondering, I wear the shade 22N light neutral (I have neutral undertones). Choose your shade according to your color, intensity and undertones.

My March 2021 Favorite Accessories

I love shoes and handbags a whole lot more than I do clothes. You, too? And because I tend to use the same accessories year after year, I’m prone to spend a little more on them. To me, these are investment pieces that pay for themselves with plenty of wear.

Let’s talk handbags first since I shared the first one in the photo above. I actually purchased the Interlok Dune Straw Satchel from Brighton at the end of last summer. But I left it in the box it came in until this month. And this classic straw bag is back in Brighton’s collection this year. It’s just large enough without being huge. The leather and the straw are luxurious. And Brighton’s signature silver detailing make this bag super classy and timeless.

But I’m also enjoying the casual, fun vibe of my Canvas Crossbody Camera Bag from J.Crew. I find myself reaching for this bag often, too. It’s just the right size to hold my essentials and the crossbody function makes it perfect for when I need to be handsfree. This Canvas Crossbody Camera Bag is 40% off with code GOSPRING, but it looks like today may be the final day for that deal.

loafers & sandals
The Modern Loafers from Everlane //

Next up, let’s talk shoes. The first pair I’ve been getting a lot of wear out of with the change of seasons. The Modern Loafers from Everlane have been my go-to shoe for those days I wanted to wear something springy before my feet were pedicure ready. These leather classic loafers have a modern streamlined silhouette and come in a variety of colors. They run true to size and feel extremely comfortably right out of the box.

I didn’t realize until just now that I haven’t styled these loafers for an outfit on the blog, other than in How I Really Dressed for My Day. I’ll have to fix that!

On the other hand, I’ve shared these Born Inlet Sandals from J.Jill more in outfit posts than I’ve worn them in real life. These super soft leather slingback sandals provide the perfect combination of comfort and easy spring-to-summer style. Their understated design works with everything from dresses to jeans.

Like I said, I haven’t been able to wear these soft Born Inlet Sandals much yet because it’s still been quite chilly. But when I have, I’ve found them to be so comfortable. They fit true to size.

My March 2021 Favorite Jewelry

When I received my birthday bonus from Kendra Scott (you can get 50% off one item or 25% off a fine jewelry piece), I ventured into the store to check out the new collections. I had just shared that pearls would be trending this year, but in more modern iterations. So I was delighted to find that Kendra Scott had introduced a new line of beautiful but modern pearl jewelry.

I purchased a few pieces for my birthday and then returned to get the others during some recent Kendra Scott sales. I don’t wear all of these together. In fact, I’m going quite minimalist with my jewelry lately. But I absolutely love the quality and modern appeal of these lovely pearl jewels. I’d hesitate to even tell you which I wear most frequently because I just enjoy mixing and matching each day.

To see me wearing the pieces you’ll probably have to look back at last week’s How I Really Dressed for My Day. I haven’t shown them as much in outfit posts.

My March 2021 Favorite Fashion Finds

Finally, I’m sharing my two favorite fashion purchases that I’m wearing a lot in March. This was tough to narrow my choices down. But I knew the J.Crew Vintage Straight Chinos would make the cut because they’re just so soft, comfortable to wear and essential to my casual wardrobe. I’m a sucker for a good pair of chinos!

I like the khaki chinos I got from Talbots, too. But I appreciate the slightly higher 10″ rise of the J.Crew Vintage Straight Chinos, as well as the softer, more lived-in feeling fabric.

I’m also enjoying experimenting with my blue and white striped Gap Big Shirt. The oversized button up shirt is really trending this spring and summer. And I think this soft cotton Gap Big Shirt is such a fun way to participate in this trend. I like to give it a front tuck and then let it drape out in the back.

I wear a medium in the Gap Big Shirt, by the way.

I’m providing a shopping widget with all the items I’ve shared in today’s list of favorites. But you can also shop through the highlighted links in the text and captions. Blessed for My Day

I’ve fallen into traps before. Have you? I didn’t see it coming. I didn’t recognize it for what it was. I misjudged the situation or the person and I miscalculated my own reactions. Before I knew it I was in over my head. Sometimes I recognized it fairly quickly. Other times I went years without realizing that somewhere way back there I’d made a wrong turn. Either way, by the time I’d realized the mistake I’d made, it was a struggle to right things again. Only by the grace of God was I able to break free from the bondage I was in.

That’s exactly why God’s Word tells us over and over to “beware.” Deception is not easily spotted. It’s tricky like that. And the enemy of your soul has studied you and knows your weaknesses and your propensities. He is able to craft deceptions that you will have difficulty spotting. So today let’s ask God to “lead us not into temptation.” In other words, let’s ask God to help us be vigilant, alert, on guard and wise. And then let’s understand that there is an enemy out there, and we best beware.

Beware that your hearts are not easily deceived, and that you do not turn away and serve other gods, and worship them. ~ Deuteronomy 11:16

Spread the love

  1. Hi Kay, I love see your favorites, and what you really wear!! I haven’t changed out my closet yet, so all my warm-weather clothes are still in the attic. It’s always fun to discover what I forgot I had! I’ll be doing the big switch-over next week!! As for the J.Crew bag, the sale is “UP TO 40% off”. You need to spend over $250 to receive 40% off, so the bag is only 25% off.

  2. I haven’t worn the blue and white stripped big shirt yet because the weather here has been chilly, but we have a break in the weather so think I will finally get a chance to wear it. I have found I have reached for the light green utility jacket as a jacket or blazer/cover up a lot, with the scarf you are wearing with it. Worn it with jeans and khakis, so cute. I bought the born sandals also and cannot hardly wait to be able to wear them. I have to get a pedicure soon. Have a great day.

  3. Hi Kay. Enjoy your posts:)
I noticed some words popping out at me such as being “alert” and “aware” and you seem like such a lovely integrous lady that I thought I might share something. (When we know better we do better and I always want to know better and am sure you do too:)) Fortunately we can now google to see which cosmetic brands are cruelty free. The tarte brand ( have to try this concealer!) is cruelty free. Unfortunately the Lancome brand is not. There are lots of wonderful ethical brands available. We definitely need to use our purchasing power to let the industry know that the ridiculously unneccessary suffering inflicted on other sentient beings is not the path we choose.

  4. Who doesn’t like an oversized blue striped shirt? And honey brown or some shade of it is becoming a staple in my closet since I got rid of black. I keep a small capsule of black because.
If something is bringing stress we should try to remove it but sometimes it’s not possible. That’s when we just float like a feather above it and realize it is what it is. God will sometimes remove it for you.

  5. Love all your favorites!

I really love your BFMD today! I don’t think the world realizes how “out to get them “ Satan is. He studies us, he knows us, and knows our weaknesses and will do all he can to make us fall. Because he doesn’t want to be alone in hell. Everyone needs to be so diligent about their soul. ❤️??

  6. Hi Kay! I love your blog and your videos! They are so much fun and inspiring! I think you would love trying the Eric Javits handbags. They are very pricey but right now there are some of the summer bags that are on sale! I love them! They have lots of inside pockets and are very well made. Thank you for all you do!

  7. Hi Kay, I really enjoy your month end favorites. However, I feel you have missed one that I really liked and that was the Nordgreen watch that you were gifted. It has beautiful style and looked great with the outfits you wore it with.

Keep up the great work. You inspire me to dress at a higher level when I got out now. It sure does make you feel your best.
    Blessings to you.

    1. Yes! I absolutely love it. I almost did include it but decided not to only since I didn’t actually purchase it. But yes. Thank you for mentioning my watch because I absolutely agree that it really elevates my outfits. ?
