I’m sharing a photo of me wearing each of the everyday spring outfits. But think beyond my choices to what’s in your closet. For each outfit I’m sharing the basic outfit formula I used so you can work that equation with items in your wardrobe in a way that suits your personal style, your everyday life and your body.
full length jeans + solid tee + lady jacket + sneakers
I’m still leaning into full length jeans a lot of days, but, while you will see me in booties further down our list, I’m opting for sneakers with my long denim most often. You’ll still look polished enough for lunch with a friend in a solid tee and feminine lady jacket.

Remember, if you see something in my outfits that would help you work your closet more easily, you can shop the look through the captions underneath the photo. Just click on the word and you’ll head straight to the retail site to shop. I sized up in those jeans, but everything else above fits true to size.
lightweight sweater + white jeans + booties + trench + scarf
This everyday spring outfit formula is a favorite of mine. It’s effortless but so effective to reach for a lightweight spring sweater and pair it with full length white jeans. Of course, you could also swap in blue or ecru denim.

Yes, after living in the Midwest now for almost 7 years I’ve learned it’s smart to keep a pair of light-neutral booties out when I pack away my other winter shoes. But one pair suffices for most jeans, including white.

Never underestimate the power of a simple sweater and jeans. I think the key for spring is choosing a pretty color and a lighter weight sweater. Add a pretty silk scarf to tie the look together. They’re so on trend this spring.
short sleeve sweater + white jeans + lady jacket + sandals
Speaking of sweaters, I’ve seen a resurgence of the short sleeved sweater this year. I’ve always enjoyed a good “summer sweater,” but I noticed they weren’t readily available for a while there, so I guess that means they also weren’t especially “in style.” But they’re back!

Wearing a short sleeve sweater like this pretty red cashmere sweater tee under a jacket is a smart way to face the day. This one does come in other colors and stripes, and it’s currently marked down a little bit.

I love how the red sweater pulls forth the red thread in the tweed lady jacket. The sweater and jacket run true to size; I sized up in the jeans.
cotton sweater + casual pants + flats
Moving on to another sweater option, I love the comfort of a cotton sweater and casual pants. This is a great everyday spring outfit for those times when you want/need to be comfortable, but also want to look effortlessly pulled together.

If you need to be able to shift this outfit as the weather changes over the course of the day, add a lightweight t-shirt underneath, so you can remove the sweater later and toss it over your shoulders.
wide leg track stripe pants + polo + jacket + sneakers
Don’t forget about those wide leg track pants. They’re so on trend this spring, and super comfortable. No need to keep the look too activewear focused. Instead of a common t-shirt, opt for a polo or Johnny collar top.

When you step out, add a jacket. If you can top your look with a jacket in the same color as your top you get bonus points. LOL. Just kidding. But you do get a powerful punch with that doubled up color in your top and jacket. It works every time.
jacket as top + jeans + slingbacks
Here’s another combination we might forget about if not reminded. I’m loving the ease and sophistication of a buttoned up jacket over a pair of trousers or jeans.

Work this everyday spring outfit formula in a way that works for your coloring. I kept the contrast in intensity low here because my personal contrast is low. Reflecting your personal contrast level in your outfit will always give you the best look.
button-up shirt + jeans + sneakers + jacket (as needed)
Here’s one of my favorite everyday spring outfits. But even I sometimes forget to use this simple but effective formula. I know that not all women enjoy button-up shirts. But if you do, now is the time to enjoy them.

The combination of a favorite button-up with a comfortable but polished pair of jeans just can’t be beat. Well, maybe it actually does get even better when you add a jacket.

I like to wear a denim jacket in a color that contrast with my jeans. So if I were wearing blue jeans, I’d probably opt for a white jacket. But you absolutely can wear the same color in your jacket and your jeans. Let me know what you prefer. I’d love to read your comments.
black pants + graphic tee + denim jacket + sneakers (or loafers)
I’ve enjoyed this everyday spring outfit formula for several years now. In fact, it works beautifully in the fall, too. Pull a pair of polished looking but still comfortable black pants from your closet – the ones you normally reserve for “nicer” outfits. These SPANXsupersmooth™ WellSuited 360 slim straight pants work perfectly for this formula, but they’re office ready, too. (They come in regular, petite and tall lengths, and sizes up to 3x – I’m wearing a regular large.)

Next look for a fun graphic tee. I like to keep it simple, but fun. Because your pants are black, it doesn’t have to “match.” Then top your outfit with a casual but modern denim jacket like this denim chore jacket (also available in creamy white) and slip into your favorite fashion sneakers. This outfit always garners compliments!
athleisure pants + polo top + bomber jacket + sneakers
Here’s another fun option for days when you want to look a little special, but comfort is key. I wore this outfit out to lunch on a Sunday afternoon, but then we took a 20 minute nature trail walk, too.

My pants and jacket are from last year and no longer available, but think how you can create something similar with items in your closet. The key is to combine sporty elements that have elevated details. I think it would work nicely with these barrel pants and a jacket like this (even in the solid) or this. Oh, and here’s a plaid option and another solid.
fitted polo top + wide leg jeans or pants
Because wide leg jeans and pants have become so popular, we’re beginning to see more and more fitted top options to balance those proportions. If you enjoy the wide leg silhouette, I recommend snapping those body skimming tops up when you find them. Pairing a fitted polo top with a wide leg jean or pant is a smart option for an everyday spring outfit you can wear so many ways.

My Veronica Beard top above works this formula with the added interest of the asymmetric detail. But the J.Mclaughlin button-up ribbed top below works just as well at a lower price point. I wear both of these frequently because they just work beautifully for this trasitional season.

You can wear the fitted top over anything from dressier trousers to the lightweight casual option from Varley to jeans.
cinched waist button-up shirt + jeans or pants
If you don’t like tucking your top or wearing cropped length tops, this outfit formula is a great way to define your waist. I found this easy-breezy top at Aritzia and snapped it up because I knew so many of my readers would love it.

The top comes in two solids, as well, but both are almost sold out online. I prefer this pretty blue and white stripe anyhow. I’m wearing my usual medium for an oversized fit. This shirt would work nicely over other types and silhouettes of pants, too. Oh, and I found this similar top for you to check out, too. That one is a little more chic, but the same concept and very simple.
buttoned-up cardigan + jeans
This year button-up cardigans are trending. But the way we’re styling them is a little different than in the past. this year it’s popular to button it up and wear it alone as a top. Of course you could add a discreet tank if that makes you feel “safer,” but that’s up to you.

Pointelle knits are also very on trend and popular this spring. I see them popping up everywhere. So while my Tuckernuck cardigan is sold out in some sizes, you’ll find lots of similar options to create this simple everyday spring outfit.

Here’s an option at Lands’ End, one at Madewell, a lovely short-sleeve one at Nordstrom and another at Nordstrom that is super feminine and thin. I love this one at Evereve, but would probably wear a tank or camisole underneath like they did. Obviously you will look very current in this easy everyday spring outfit formula.
t-shirt + jeans + blazer + sneakers
Here’s a favorite of mine. I enjoy wearing blazers, and spring is the perfect time to layer one simply over a t-shirt and jeans.

This simple ribbed tee is a favorite. It fits true to size and is super comfortable and chic – great for layering. Finish off this modern classic outfit formula with sporty sneakers for the most current look.
top + casual pants + spring coat + loafers
We’re on the homestretch with the perfect everyday spring outfit for a day of shopping and lunch with a friend. Top a pair of casual pants (like my Talbots straight cropped pants) with a pretty tee or sweater top, tuck and belt. Then, as needed, add a spring coat.

You can wear a traditional trench or a more modern cropped length one. Or you could opt for a mac, which is what I would classify this twill car coat as. Everything here fits true to size.

Finish this outfit off with modern classic loafers. And don’t forget to accessorize. Have you seen my latest YouTube video about the 7 accessories you need in order to step out looking polished oh so effortlessly? Check it out below before you head off.

Blessed for My Day
Still basking in the radiance of Easter Sunday, I’m continuing to ponder the personal significance of Jesus’ resurrection. We actually don’t celebrate that pivotal event just on Easter, you know. We remember the Lord’s victory over sin and death each and every Sunday. You may have heard of it referred to as “the Lord’s Day.” Every time we gather as a church, we celebrate that we have a risen Savior.
Because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection, we are reconciled to God. We are no longer His enemies, but His friends. No longer estranged, but now adopted into His family. What a precious thing to be God’s child, His friend and the apple of His eye. Let’s be grateful today that we now can run to His throne and know that we are accepted, forgiven and restored.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. ~ Romans 5:10
I’ve found I really like short sleeve sweaters. Enjoying the cardigan trend too. Lots of great inspiration here. Love the cardigan and jeans look and the fitted top and wide leg trouser look the best. I noticed you have your Gorjana hoops on in almost every photo. You weren’t kidding on your YT video this week that those are one of your favorites. 🙂 They’re gorgeous with that hammered texture, but at nearly 51mm, they would be far too big for my petite head and neck. My biggest hoops are just shy of 30mm and even those are just a bit too much for me. However, I noticed Gorjana has the “Taner Small” version, currently not in stock, but will have to keep my eyes out for a restock, since they are a smaller scale (~25mm) that would work for me.
I needed this reminder. Although summer is my favorite season, dressing during springtime is a bit more fun and offers me more opportunities for the layers I like so much.
Every scarf link goes to ashby cashmere sweater.
We had a chilly Sunday. I wore a cotton sweater with a silky scarf, off white wide leg pants and my trench coat. I also wore my light tan suede booties. I really need to wear my trench coat more when we have mild winter days. Thank you for all your outfit ideas. I liked your video on accessories too.
I have not seen anyone in Michigan wearing white or ecru jeans for spring yet. I know most of these outfits would work with dark jeans but I wish you would style more outfits with dark jeans or pants.
You look great in all these outfits. Great ideas. I love reading your post.
