I’ve shopped Madewell for a LOT of my spring wardrobe. Always dependable for great denim and classics with a modern vibe, I find that Madewell is also very reasonably priced for the value. Yes, you may find that a few of their styles skew young, but most of their fashions suit this fairly conservative, middle-aged, empty nester just beautifully. Right now they’re having a huge discount offer in their Madwell Insiders Event, so I wanted to share one of my favorite looks from Madewell’s Spring fashions and give you the scoop.

Believe it or not, this washed 100% cotton poplin button up shirt was the launching point for my 2026 spring wardrobe. I immediately fell in love with the tranquil blue and red combination, as well as the super soft fabric and classic details of this casual shirt. It fits true to size for a relaxed fit. The shirt comes in several other colors and an additional stripe, too.

Shopping at a store like Madewell is a great way to stay in the loop so that your sense of style evolves. I’m a firm believer in owning our age and aging gracefully. But I also want to look my very best…and definitely not older than I really am. I often encourage women not to try to look younger than you really are, but instead aim for modern. When we look current, we actually look more vibrant, in the know and youthful. I pick and choose with discernment at stores like Madewell. But shopping here really keeps my looks fresh and current.

I started my search for white jeans early so that I could point you in the right direction. I had about given up on finding a pair of jeans that check all the boxes when I stepped into Madewell and found these Emmy wide leg jeans. They’re crafted in a premium Cone® denim with exceptional stretch for a holds-you-in feel that moves with you throughout the day. They are very opaque and the fabric feels substantial and like real denim.
Fitted through the hips and thighs, the jeans feature a just-wide-enough leg, flattering high rise and 30″ inseam.” The white jeans come in standard, short, tall and plus sizes. (The short length is their standard fit with a 2″ shorter inseam, not a true petite.) I generally wear a size 30 in jeans at Madewell, but I did size up to a 31 in these. Of course, that may just be because I’ve put on a few pounds. Nah, the 30s “fit,” but I felt like they were snugger than I want white denim to be.

I wasn’t really looking for a new denim jacket. I’ve been wearing my Levi’s trucker jacket for about 40 years now, and I was perfectly happy with it. (Talk about needing to evolve! Ha!) But when I came across this denim chore jacket I knew it was just the thing to update my casual completer piece collection.
👉📺Speaking of completer pieces, did you watch my recent video about the 4 Spring Outfit Completers You Need? I’ll share it below. It’s short and a must watch!
The denim chore jacket also comes in a soft white they call vintage canvas, making it a perfect match for the perfect vintage wide leg crop jean, which comes in the same color. The jacket runs true to size for a relaxed but not oversized fit, and it comes in sizes XXSmall to XXLarge, like most of their styles.

I read in a magazine just yesterday that spring is a good time not just to add spring styles to your closet, but also do a complete wardrobe update, a sort of spring cleaning, if you will. I couldn’t agree more. Trust me, if you want to modernize your wardrobe just. a. touch. but not go crazy about it, Madewell is the perfect place to start.

You’ll discover that their clothes are made well (hahaha, no pun intended – but maybe they did mean to!) and, because many have a modern, classic vibe, they earn a place in your closet for several years at least. I generally wear a medium and a 30 in their jeans, but sometimes I do need to size down to a 29. Fortunately, with the Madewell Insider program you get FREE shipping and FREE returns if you return within 30 days. You can also make returns at a nearby Madewell store.

I’ve gathered these items and a few additional favorites at Madewell in the shopping widget below. You can also shop my outfit items through the links in the captions of the photos above. I encourage you to check out all of the New Arrivals at Madewell and take advantage of the 25% off sitewide in the Madewell Insiders Event. Remember to sign up for the Insider program if you’re not yet a member.
And just to clarify, this post is NOT sponsored by Madewell, and they didn’t gift me anything I showed here. I just really enjoy shopping their styles and thought you might, too.

Blessed for My Day
Have you been disappointed by people? I have, and I’m sure you have as well. It could have been as harsh as a parent failing to care for you as a child or spouse walking out. But you may have also been disappointed just yesterday when someone didn’t say hello as you passed or they failed to remember your name. People will disappoint us in small and big ways. Some offenses we get over easily; others have the ability of leaving scars that last a lifetime.
But we can know that our God is trustworthy and never disappoints. Sure, if we hinge our hopes on selfish desires or refuse to allow Him to “be God” and we try to call the shots instead, we can definitely feel disappointed when things do not go our way. But the Bible assures us and God has proven over and over that He is always working all things together for the good of those who love Him and follow His commands. If you are hurting over a disappointment, turn to the Lord and put your trust wholly in Him. He’s got you.
Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. ~ Deuteronomy 7:9
