Spring is upon us in all its glory! I’ve been enjoying the blooming azaleas and dogwoods in Georgia this week as I visit my family. But of course the temperatures are still up and down. Most days I’m opting for closed toe shoes, but warmer days are coming when I’ll gravitate towards sandals and strappy heels. So today I’m sharing the essential spring sandals and heels we need to add to our wardrobes now.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

Even if you’re still wearing loafers, sneakers, pumps and booties right now, you know that it will be time to bare your toes soon. Schedule that pedicure and let’s add the essential spring sandals and heels to our closets while they’re still available.

My favorite sandals for spring and summer

I’ve got a full shopping widget at the bottom of this post with a HUGE selection of spring sandals and heels. But first I’d like to share with you some of my personal favorites. I can’t give you the details on all the shoes in the shopping widget, but I can share fit and wear information on these because I wear them and love them.

Cognac Sandals

I think it’s so smart to have some pretty cognac or caramel brown sandals for spring and summer. They make white, denim and black outfits look a little richer and more interesting.

This is my second year to wear these day crossover sandals from Everlane. They do not have a lot of arch support or cushion, but the leather crossover straps are luxuriously soft. I absolutely love wearing these simple sandals. And if you look back at last summer’s blog posts you’ll notice I wore them more than any other shoe.

sandals

The Everlane sandals run true to size and are available in sizes 5 to 11, including half sizes. They also come in other pretty neutrals and a stunning red. They work beautifully with everything from shorts to skirts, from jeans to dresses. And I think the price is extremely reasonable for this durable, wearable sandal.

A new personal favorite is the Kaia Vachetta leather demi wedge sandals from Talbots. They’re very comparable to the Everlane sandals. They fit true to size and come in indigo blue, too. You can get sizes 5 to 11, including half sizes.

sandals

The Patricia Nash Fidella sandals below are another cognac favorite of mine. I like these strappy sandals because they feel secure and soft on the feet, but they also look feminine and stylish. Right now they are 25% off.

These sandals run true to size and are available in sizes 5.5 to 12.

Casual Slides

Another new-to-me sandal this spring is the Beeks Gallito leather slide sandal. Beeks is a California brand that caught my eye on Instagram, so I decided to try them out. They’re pricey, but super comfortable. I’m wearing these Beeks right now as I type up this post, in fact.

The Beeks sandals do have superb arch support with a leather-wrapped memory foam molded footbed. This brand is committed to sustainability and quality. So I imagine I can count on wearing these sandals for years to come…even though I plan to wear them almost on the daily this summer. I wear a 9.5, but these only come in full sizes. NOTE: They suggest for half sizes to size up, but I sized DOWN to a 9 for a great fit (per reviews). I have a medium width foot, however. So if you have a wide foot, you might need to size up.

Metallic Sandals

The Beeks above obviously come in metallic platinum, but I also think it’s good to have a little dressier metallic option. Below I’m wearing my M.Gemi metallic sandals from a couple of years ago. These will be in my closet for a while!

But I’ve linked you to the comparable metallic sandals at M.Gemi this year. These are so comfortable and pair with so many types of spring and summer outfits.

That said, I found the Lands’ End sandals above to be a very nice option as well. Those were a little roomier on my feet, but they still fit true to size. Below I’m wearing my J.McLaughlin Raquel cork and metallic sandals.

These sandals were so comfortable from the moment I put them on. The cork footbed makes them soft and gentle on the foot, and the 1″ heel is perfect for someone like me who really prefers a little bit of a heel for comfort.

Black Sandals

While I think cognac and metallic sandals are truly essential spring sandals, I find black to be another nice option. They can bookend a look like the one I’m wearing below or pair nicely with black crops or a black dress.

The black Hannah Vachetta leather slides above fit true to size and feel really comfortable. They’re also available in tan, indigo blue and white.

Woven or Straw Sandals

Last year woven or straw sandals became very popular, and they’re still trending this spring and summer.

sandals

The Gatlin slide sandals from Easy Spirit were top sellers at Dressed for My Day last spring and summer, and they eventually sold out. But they’re back in stock this season. These raffia sandals are available in sizes 5 to 12, including most half sizes, but they are already selling out again. They come in black leather, too.

Sporty Sandals

If you like to wear sandals even on days when you’re on the move, you’ll want a pair of sporty sandals. My favorite sporty sandals are my Naots. I have several pair. The others are all discontinued, but this year they still have the Dorith sandals in this pretty, shimmery metallic, that I’m wearing below.

gold Naot Dorith sandals
Naot Dorith sandals

I carried these Naot Dorith sandals on my trip to London a couple of years ago and they served me well. They’re comfortable, with arch support and a cushioned insole, but they’re also pretty on the foot. I’ll still be wearing them this spring and summer. But I also recently was gifted the Easy Spirit sports sandals below.

sandals (C/O) // linen set // earrings // chain link bracelet // gold bracelet // see original blog post

Of course these chunky sandals are very comfortable and perfect for walking a long distance. The Denise Austin sandals come in medium and wide widths, sizes 5 to 12 and several pretty colors. You can use code KAY20 for 20% off if they don’t have any other offers at the time. I like that they are very adjustable with three Velcro tabs.

My favorite heels for spring and summer

During the spring and summer I like to have a few closed toe options as well as some heeled sandals. My Veronica Beard Andie chain-link sandals became instant favorites this year.

ruffle shirt //denim jacket // wide white ankle pants // belt// diamond necklace // gold chain necklace // earrings // small gold bracelet // link bracelet // tote bag // sandals // see original blog post here

These pretty sandals come in black and coconut white also. They’re available in sizes 5 to 12, and I find them to run true to size. I think a pair of strappy heeled sandals are smart with dresses, skirts and ankle length pants.

suede block heel sandals (C/O)

I’m also enjoying the Talbots suede block heel sandals. It may seem a little odd to wear suede in the spring and summer, but it’s very on trend this year. That said, I do suggest spraying them with suede protector since it rains so much this time of year. These suede block heel sandals run true to size, but the strap is not especially long. I think I have it fastened on the last hole.

wedge sandals

The Lands’ End espadrille wedge sandals above are a nice addition to your spring and summer wardrobe because they work so well with a variety of outfits. These also come in a rose gold and a medium slate blue. They run true to size and come in sizes 6 to 11.

slingback pumps (C/O)

The slingback pumps above are another option from Easy Spirit that sold out last year. These are an especially pretty option to wear with pants and jeans. They’re available in medium and wide widths in a full range of sizes. And you can choose from other colors/textures, too.

slingback heels

And finally, I think it’s so smart to have a pair of heels in a flesh tone. In fact, these are true essential spring and summer heels. They’ll go with almost every dress or skirt you might wear, and help you create a beautiful, long leg silhouette. I wear my Naturalizer slingback heels almost weekly. They are a super soft leather and available in other shades, too. The 2 1/4″ heel is very comfortable and the strap stays on the back of my foot nicely. They fit true to size.

You can shop these and so many other essential spring sandals and heels through my ShopMy shop below. I’ve tried to collect options in a wide range of prices, but I have only included shoes that I am personally familiar with and comfortable recommending. And since comfortable shoes are important but also generally pricey, you will find that most of these shoes are not inexpensive. That said, some are on sale.

Thanks so much for stopping in today. I hope you have a wonderful spring day!

Blessed for My Day

After Israel crossed the Jordan River on dry ground to conquer Jericho, the Lord instructed them to erect a monument of stones from the river. For years after this miraculous crossing the people could look back at that heap of stones and remember God’s loving and powerful work on their behalf. In fact, future generations could look at the monument and recall the account of God’s faithfulness to their parents and grandparents.

What “memorial stones” remind you of God’s handiwork in your own life? Have you shared those powerful stories of God’s faithfulness with your children and grandchildren? Imagine how your testimonies of God’s goodness could inspire and encourage the generations to come. But first you must “set up those stones” in some way so that those who come after you can know your stories of God’s faithfulness.

…then you shall say to them, ‘That the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off.’ So these stones shall become a memorial to the sons of Israel forever.” ~ Joshua 4:7

  1. Hello Kay,

I love today’s sandal and heels segment. Thank you for collecting and sharing!

I have a special request. Would you be able to do a segment on comfortable and stylish flats or walking shoes?

I will give you a bit of context into my request. I am in my early 60’s, still work full-time, and for a very “youthful” global technology company. Recently, we are returning to office a few days a week so my wardrobe has needed some updates. The office go-to dress is jeans and sweatshirts, with sneakers. I prefer to dress slightly elevated and follow much of your style aesthetic, buying clothing from Talbots, JCrew, and Nordstorm, etc. that you share. I am a 4/6 dress size and 5’7″. I live in the Minneapolis, MN area and my office is located in the busy city, with lots of walking.

Importantly, I am a long-time diabetic and must protect my feet. I must avoid sandals/heels and they are really not practical for distance walking on busy city streets. I would love to wear dresses similar to what I see on your site, and sometimes want to abandon the popular sneakers that are so common at my office.

Are you able to do a segment of offer tips for stylish summer flats, or elevated sneakers that I can safely wear without risking the health of my feet? I cannot risk injuries or blisters but want to dress modern and stylish. I’m sure that many working women will thank you!!!

    Thank you!! Carrie

    1. I can’t wear any of the shoes shown here except maybe the espadrilles. I’ve had very good success with a fisherman style sandal because your toes are enclosed. Also, my doctor, based of course on my issues, said all my shoes need to be attached to my foot front and back. No slides! She also said to wear firmer soles with a decent footbed and not the soft or flat soles. I’ve followed this advice for more than 10 years and my feet don’t hurt anymore. I also stopped breaking those wee bones in my feet. Good luck! I’m convinced that my closed toe sandals and dress shoes are stylish!

  2. I really like sandals but it means I constantly have to have my feet looking open toed shoe ready which I like less. 🙂 What is the brand of the beautiful pink and gold maxi dress at the top of the top? It isn’t otherwise featured.

  3. My favorite is the chunky Easy Spirit sandal. I can see myself wearing those all day! They look so comfortable and perfect for my super casual lifestyle mostly at home and with the grands.

  4. Great post. I love sandals. The Denise Austin sandals look especially comfortable & great if you are on your feet a lot. Thanks

  5. Hi Kay,
I am so loving all the blog posts that point to spring. We’ve had a little tease of it here in NJ, but this week has been chilly again. I’m thoroughly ready for Spring!!
I am always interested in shoe trends. The difficulty for me is that I have a narrow foot. I’m seeing more wide sizes available these dats, but my go-to brands (Naturalizer & Easy Spirit, for example) are making fewer and fewer of their styles in narrow sizes. If you happen come across any brands that make modern styles in narrow sizes, I would love to hear about them!
I noticed Ally has a narrow size; although I don’t typically spend that much, I do plan to try a bootie from there in the fall.
Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration!
    Mary Beth

  6. All these sandals are so pretty! I do find slides to be a challenge when it comes to walking and driving and prefer the security of a sandal that is secure around the ankle and across the top of the foot. I also need wide width and have foot issues – I’ve found the Cleo sandal by Munro available at Nordstrom works for me and have it in two colors. I would love to have more styles and colors that work for me and have ordered over a dozen pairs of sandals online so far this year from various retailers to try to find something like a cognac sandal without success – I wound up with another pair of the Cleo for all the time and trouble spent on this quest – very few stores carry a double-wide width in the store so buying shoes involves guessing and ordering online – my husband always knows when I’m trying to find shoes as the boxes keep getting delivered, than I have to trek to Nordstrom or DSW to return most of them – not fun, especially when I can hardly ever find something cute that fits!

    1. Same! The Munro Cleo sandals in double wide width is a great sandal for my wide feet. Munro has several different styles of sandals that work for me because of their double wide widths. Tory Burch Miller sandals might work for you, too. And for casual, I can never beat the comfort of Clarks women’s Breeze Sea. Good luck in your search!

  7. Thank you again for all the advice on shoes for the spring and summer. I found a pair of Bobs by Skechers slide sandals that resemble the Day Crossover sandals in Sienna Brown. These sandals are supportive and comfortable. They are called Desert Kiss and color is Chestnut.

  8. I am a big fan of Vionic leather sandals. I just ordered their Rayna style in Cognac. They usually have great arch support. This sandal is adjustable in three places. Thanks for a great post!

  9. So many choices of sandals. I personally like the the Andie Chain link look and it would be a nice addition to my closet, but my all time favorite is the Naturalizer heels. I might just have to get those

  10. Hi Kay. Love the look of strappy sandals but alas as I’ve gotten older, I need a sturdier shoe with good arch and heel support. My feet have become very picky about what they like. I’ve worn SAS sandals in the past and that worked but sneakers may be my only friend this summer!

  11. I love all your sandal choices. Unfortunately I have extra wide feet and none of them work. I have to order my shoes online. Over the years I have found what fits for my foot but not always the cute shoes you recommend. Shoe manufacturers just don’t make many styles for us extra wide feet women. They make a lot of old lady shoes extra wide. Very frustrating when trying to put together an outfit.Easy Spirit does make some but not the cute sandals you recommended. They come in single wide.

  12. Thanks for showing so many variety of sandals in this post, Kay! So many to choose this spring/summer. I have had great success with Naot sandals and I like the ones you showed. Very comfortable, but with good arch support, too. Enjoy your time in Georgia!

  13. Thanks for the large variety of sandals. Many to choose from. My only decision is some times I wear a 61/2 and some times a 7.

  14. Kay,
Thank you for all of the sandal recommendations. I have had my eye on the Naot sandal and may have to pull the trigger. Like many others I need something with a strap across to hold my foot in. I just walk right out of the slides but I think they are so pretty.

Enjoy your time with your family ❤️

  15. Kay, all of these sandals are beautiful! I think cognac sandals are timeless and work well with a variety of outfits. Thank you for sharing so many sandal options!

  16. I have a similar style of the chunky sandals but made by Vionic. I got my pedicure last Friday but it turned cold during the weekend that I had to wear booties to church. However summer has returned. I’m burning up waiting for my grandkids to get out of school. All the sandals are nice but some too flat for me.

  17. Glad your trip continues to be great! Like the post! I need to go thru my shoes for summer now! Enjoy your time away!

  18. I so enjoyed your sandal reviews on today’s blog! So fun to see the new trends for 2025. I purchased some Tory Burch Miller sandals in the patent leather color “shell pink”. They are so pretty! Last year I bought them in silver. I get compliments on both of them. Thank you for all you do!

  19. Kay it’s getting harder and harder to read your post for all the ads. Any way to help that? I love shoes and so ready for sandal weather but it’s not here yet.

  20. Kay
The sandals are cute but slides are not practical for my life. No matter where I am going, I want to be able to walk a reasonable distance and they just do not stay on. I own the naots and they are perfect for travel. They offer great support and go with everything.
Question- in the very first photo, you post with Three different outfits, the brightly colored orange and pink dress. I cannot find the original post or what brand that dress is. It looks absolutely amazing on you!
I am soooo ready for sandal weather!
    Thanks!

  21. Enjoyed seeing what shoes and sandals are popular for spring. Makes me want to get my sandals out of storage, when it warms up enough.

  22. You featured a lot of beautiful sandals! And yes I agree wholeheartedly, a good pair of skin-tone colored heels is a wardrobe essential. Even though I am petite, I have broad feet and wear wides. That limits what brands/styles I can find that fit me. I’m sure some of your readers have the same type of challenge. Nordstrom has a really nice selection of sandals in extended sizes, and Vionic has some great choices as well.

  23. I can’t wear slide sandals anymore. I’m always on the hunt for a cute pair of supportive sandals with a strap.

  24. I find closed in shoes much too warm , so wear sandals all summer. I prefer a bit of a heel and arch support. I have a bunion, so many sandals are more comfortable than other shoes. I just bought silver sandals and I’m sure I can wear them with a lot of outfits. I’m 70+, so don’t like dresses above my knees…
