October 2, 2023

Happy Monday! And let’s hear it for October! Today I’m in Dallas for LTK Con, a conference for influencers who use the LTK affiliate network in their businesses. It’s a quick day and a half of networking, learning and visiting with some of my favorite brands that are sponsoring the event, such as Colleen Rothschild, Bloomingdale’s and Tarte Cosmetics. But today I’m sharing with you the top twelve items that DFMD readers and viewers have been purchasing through those affiliate links. This is what’s hot at DFMD in September 2023.

This post contains affiliate links. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links.

Actually my assistant Lucy put this list together with her findings from our analytics. No, we don’t know who bought what. Your information is always safe and confidential when you shop through my links. I don’t even know who is shopping! And I don’t actually know what shoppers are buying either. But these are the top 12 links shoppers clicked through and then made a purchase.

Let’s check out the top twelve. I’m excited to find out what they are, too!

12- Zip Hoodie

I’m so glad this zip hoodie from Kohl’s made the list. It’s such a practical fall purchase. And this one is super soft and cozy.

The zip hoodie fits true to size and is available in a few other neutrals, too. You can see more of it in this post.

11- Bouclé Cardigan

Let’s see, I don’t think I’ve actually modeled this bouclé cardigan for an outfit post or video yet, but I did feature it in my recent Talbots try-on post. I did indeed keep this beautiful dark walnut brown bouclé cardigan.

The bouclé cardigan fits true to size and is available in camel heather and black, too. I’ll try to style it soon.

10- Jersey Stripe Square Neck Top

It looks like my travel outfit to London must have been popular. I think I wore this striped square neck top for both long flights and it was the perfect weight and silky soft.

I did size down to a small in this striped square neck top. It runs a little roomy in the chest, but then I’m not very large there. If you’re more bosomy, you may want to stick with your true size.

9- Relaxed Fit Cargo Pant

Ooh! I love these relaxed fit cargo pants. In fact, I have them in both the utility green and the light khaki. They run a little large; I’m wearing a size 29. They’re a nice mid to light weight, full length and have a little stretch.

The cargo pants are marked down, but J.Crew has them on final sale. I don’t know why they do that; nobody else does hardly. It’s really annoying. However, I do believe that if you purchase them and need to return they will take them but only for a store credit. That said, I love these cargos and have thoroughly enjoyed wearing them. I expect I’ll wear them in the spring, too.

8- Straight Leg Jeans

You’ll see me style these dark wash straight leg jeans in Wednesday’s YouTube video later this week. I love them. They have a little stretch and a slim fit. The threading is dark navy, so the jeans look a little more elevated than others.

These dark wash straight leg jeans come in misses, petites and long sizes. They also have a curvy option in misses and petite sizing, as well as plus sizes and plus curvy.

7- Mid Rise Straight Leg Jeans

Here’s another great pair of jeans. A DFMD YouTube viewers recommended these mid-rise straight leg jeans, so I had to check them out. I think they fit really nicely true to size; I’m wearing a 10. And they come in a pretty nice variety of washes, too.

You may remember that I shared in this blog post that I got the sweetest compliment when I was wearing these…by a young man. I’d say these are a great jean for the price and really nice for everyday wear.

6- Classic Shetland Blazer

Oooh! Here’s another personal favorite. I would have loved to have worn this blazer to LTK Con, but of course it is 298º here in Dallas. Ha! Anyhow, I love the beautiful red berry shade of this classic Shetland blazer and I absolutely will wear it soon.

The jacket runs large to true to size; I’m wearing an 8 very comfortably. It comes in a nice camel, too.

5- Cotton Fisherman Sweater

Here’s a great deal! This cotton fisherman sweater looks and feels so much like my Jenni Kayne sweater, but it’s from Quince at a much better price.

The is 100% cotton and fits true to size; I’m wearing my usual medium. It comes in lot of other nice colors, too.

4- Luxe Comfort Straight Leg Travel Pants

Here’s the other half of my London travel outfit. I LOVE these ankle length straight leg travel pants. They’re comfortable, but also look classy. And I love the zip pockets on them.

Talbots has carried these straight leg travel pants for a couple of years now, but sizes are going now. They are marked down, too.

3- Trouser Jeans

Speaking of travel, my friend Shelly wore these in London and I just had to have some when I got home. Lucky me, just about that time Chico’s reached out and wanted to send me a pair of jeans and a sweater in exchange for an Instagram post, so I asked for these. Aren’t these trouser jeans great?

Hmm. I just realized I haven’t even shown those trouser jeans here. I had to pull the photos above from this YouTube video.

2- Wool Cashmere Hoodie

Another personal favorite! Not only is this wool cashmere hoodie fun to wear and very on trend, but the color is stunning.

The hoodie sweater does also come in a nice tan smoke (deep camel) option. I think that would make a nice addition to a wardrobe as well. It runs true to size for a roomy fit.

1- Tribeca Pants

🎉 Cue the fireworks! The hottest item at DFMD in September 2023 was the Tribeca Pant from Talbots. These are such versatile pants and very comfortable, too. They’re ankle length in a nice, slightly stretchy knit fabric, very simple but elevated, too. I’ll be wearing them again in this week’s YouTube video.

In fact, I’ll be wearing them in another 2X2 outfit like I did above. You’re going to love it or hate it. Ha! The Tribeca Pant is now available in camel and indigo blue, too.

Thanks so much for dropping in. Let me know if you purchased any of these Hot at DFMD items and how you feel about them. Even if you weren’t impressed and returned, I welcome your feedback, as long as it is kind and constructive. 😉

Blessed for My Day

Discernment. It’s one of those things we desperately need to navigate life well and avoid the pitfalls that are everywhere around us. Discernment is the ability to know, not just what is good, but what is best. Discernment somehow calculates the situation from multiple angles and makes the wisest decisions. And discernment is able to see beyond the façade to what is real.

How do we gain that kind of discernment. The Bible says we have to seek it from God. He can indeed make us more discerning, but we must seek Him to gain that kind of insight. The more we know Him, the more see the world clearly. The more we walk in His shadow, the more light He sheds on the darkness around us. Ask the Lord for discernment, and ask it for those you love, too. Then seek the Lord Himself and grow in wisdom and understanding.

And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ… ~ Philippians 1:9-10

  1. I picked up the hoodie sweater in the berry color. Beautiful material, so soft and comfy. I can’t decide if I should keep it. Our weather hasn’t been cool enough to wear it but I have it packed for a cruise where the temperatures will require sweaters.

Enjoy the conference and let God’s light shine through you.

  2. I bought the cargo pants. They were pleasantly loose and a great weight. It’s still 90, but I put away my shorts.

  3. Love the BFMD. Discernment is so important. Jesus treated everyone differently, Sometimes He was direct and rebuking-like with the Pharisees. Sometimes He used tender confrontation like the woman at the well (He used a positive form “you’re right” to point out her sin.” Sometimes He reasoned using logic as with Nicodemus. Jesus is amazing in how He dealt with people.

    Enjoy your conference!

I’m eyeing the blazer in camel:)

  4. Personally, I would rather pay more for jeans that don’t contain polyester. I prefer natural fabrics. It’s the high percentage of cotton fabric in jeans that gets so lovely and broken in with repeat washings and wearings. It is nice that penneys offers some unusual colors.

  5. I really enjoyed your September shares. Thank you for all that. I did buy the lovely berry blazer, the JCrew cargo pants in green – they are awesome and sooo flattering. Your shoe-share inspired me to find similar in footwear that are comfy and supportive of my former dancer feet lol. And not shown above so maybe it was August? – I LOVE the Rails jeans skirt. I did have to size up, but it is absolutely a favorite. Thanks for all the fun and inspiration – Oh! And I just received my ZIIP!! One day in – takes a bit of getting used to so hopeful. 🙂

    1. Hahaha! Yes that ZIIP Halo does indeed take getting use to. But I’ve continued to have good results. I hope you do, too! 🥰

  6. Oh – and I also love the Talbots quarter zip sweaters – bought both the green and the teal. Super soft and not bulky at all. Thanks again.
