Top Sellers at DFMD in 2024

The past few days I’ve been gearing up for a major reset in my fitness, wellness and diet routines and habits for 2025, and today is my official kick-off. I’m so ready to be completely on board again with the FASTer Way to Fat Loss, which has worked super well for me in the past. I’ve already been eating clean for the past week, getting in all of my workouts, prioritizing sleep and drinking my water…and I’m feeling exponentially better than I was during the holidays. Yay! So I’m super excited for the new year and ready to move into it. But I do want to take us on one more deep dive into my 2024 analytics here at Dressed for My Day, checking out the 24 top sellers at DFMD. Let’s see what my community has been buying this past year.

I’ve divided these into two categories just so the list wouldn’t get monotonous with clothes, clothes, clothes. Ha! So I’m sharing the top 12 clothing items and then the top 12 non-clothing items that readers and viewers have been buying in 2024 through this blog, my LTK Shop, my YouTube channel and in my email newsletter.

Clothing:

It’s no surprise that Talbots is the top retailer in my analytics. Most of my readers love shopping the modern classic styles at this New England based store. But, while the top 12 list is definitely Talbots-heavy, you’ll also notice a number of styles from Quince and other familiar retailers. I’m listing them in order from 12 to number 1.

#12 – Quince Organic Cotton Fisherman Sweater

During the spring and fall I wear my Jenni Kayne organic cotton fisherman sweaters frequently. I consider these timeless, classic sweaters to be wardrobe essentials, at least for the spring. But when I show my Jenni Kayne sweaters, I generally also link to the very similar Quince 100% cotton fisherman sweater as a more economical option. Thus, it comes in at number 12 in our 2024 top seller list.

The Quince sweater is responsibly sourced, beautifully constructed and available in a wide assortment of colors and neutrals. The ones above are just some of my favorites. But click through for more options. They also come in sizes XS to XL. And the best news of all? It’s under $50!

#11 – Sam Edelman Buckle Belt Trench Coat

As soon as we open a new calendar I get excited to start wearing spring clothes. I’ll be waiting a while, of course, but I’m so ready to wear my trench coats. I love a classic trench coat to elevate a basic spring outfit.

The Sam Edelman buckle belt trench coat is a classic silhouette at a very reasonable price for the quality. It does go on sale occasionally, too. This coat is currently almost sold out, but I imagine we’ll see a newer version soon. Meanwhile, you can check it out in other colors here and here.

#10 – Talbots Straight Leg Jeans Pearl Wash

As more and more of us shifted from skinnies to straight leg jean silhouettes this year, we purchased options like these straight leg ankle length jeans from Talbots. They’re sold out except one plus size. But these jeans are very similar.

I understand that we’ll continue to see jeans in a wide variety of lengths and silhouettes this spring, with an emphasis on lighter washes. The raw edge hemlines are still in, as are higher waistlines.

#9 – Quince Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Crewneck Sweater

Like it’s cotton cousin, the Quince Mongolian cashmere fisherman crewneck sweater was also popular in 2024.

I find this super soft cashmere sweater to run true to size; I’m wearing a medium. It comes in a wide variety of colors and sizes XS to XL. It’s under $100.

#8 – Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket

I’ve been singing the praises of the Veronica Beard Miller dickey jacket for several years now, and this year I saw a huge upswing in the number purchased. I heard from follower after follower that they were tired of buying jackets every year and were ready to purchase one that would look stylish for years to come.

The Veronica Beard jackets are definitely investments, but I’m also glad I heard back from many of those women that they are so pleased with their purchases. I do love mine. I find them to run just a tad large; I wear a size 8 comfortably.

All that said, Quince does have a similar jacket that is a lovely option at a more economical price. And it also has the insert function.

#7 – J.Jilll Easy Linen Wide Leg Crop Pants

It’s wild to me that these easy linen wide leg crop pants are still available, considering how many my readers and viewers purchased. And you can snag these for just $21 right now. Wow!

You may remember that these wild orchid pants also made my favorite purchases list, and this outfit was among my favorites of the year, too. They run a little large.

#6 – Quince 100% Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater

And here’s our third sweater from Quince in our top 12 clothing best sellers at DFMD in 2024. This $50 cashmere sweater is a true standout, not just for its price, but for its quality.

The sweater is available in a wide assortment of colors and a full range of sizes. I did size up to a large for a roomier fit, but you can see from how it fits in the photo above, that a TTS medium would work for me if you prefer a closer fit. It’s a great value and a closet staple.

#5 – Talbots Polo Cardigan

I have a theory about why this Talbots polo cardigan sweater was such a hit. In order to achieve those optimal proportions, I frequently encourage readers and viewers to give their tops a little front tuck. But a lot of women prefer not to do that. That’s when you need to look for tops like this one that are not too long and have a close but relaxed fit.

This top hits at such a nice place, giving a long leg line without needing to be tucked. It sold out fast in several colors. However, they have a very similar polo cardigan with ivory tipped edges. And in their new arrivals they have this polo cable knit cardigan in some nice color options. Both are great styles if you’re trying to conceal a tummy because they give you a slenderizing silhouette and nice proportions without drawing attention to your midsection.

Talbots Poplin Short Shirt

I think perhaps this poplin short shirt was popular for the very same reason. It was a great option for wearing a button-up that didn’t need to be tucked and draped the midsection beautifully.

They still have that shirt in white. And you can also check out the similar nautical stripe option.

#3 – Talbots Patch Pocket Crewneck Cotton Sweater

I had this cotton sweater from Talbots in two colors and I noticed they sold out fast. They were a very similar fit to the Jenni Kayne and Quince sweaters mentioned and shown above.

I think a cotton sweater is such an important spring wardrobe staple. You can wear them as a pullover or draped over your shoulders, and they’re perfect for chilly morning and nights.

#2 – Talbots Southampton Pants

I guess these Southampton pants weren’t just a big seller at DFMD, but also at Talbots because they’ve brought them back for this spring. You can dress these versatile pants up…

or down. Honestly, I prefer them dressed down a little with sneakers and a denim jacket. I love the juxtaposition.

I have these pants in rattan, shown here, and black. In fact, I took photos in this Saturday and plan to show them in a post on styling black pants this week. They’re comfortable and fit true to size.

#1 – Talbots Wide Crop Pants

And our number one top selling clothing item at Dressed for My Day in 2024 was the Talbots wide leg crop pants.

Of course these easy breezy cotton pants are no longer available. But they were a summer staple in my closet. Watch for Talbots to bring out something similar this spring.

Top Selling Non-Clothing Items

In this category I’m including fashion accessories, beauty items and gifts. You’ll see why I needed to create this category in a bit. The number one top seller at Dressed for My Day in 2024 was a HUGE surprise.

#12 – Easy Spirit Cassius Slingback Pumps

I’m pretty sure the Easy Spirit Cassius slingback pumps sold out shortly after I showed this last spring. But they’re back in stock now. This is a very comfortable, stylish shoe that is also available in other colors and textures. It’s also available in a wide width.

Everlane the Day Crossover Sandal

This Everlane the Day crossover sandal was also one of my favorite purchases of the year. I love it when we think alike! Of course I showed this sandal over and over and over, so maybe there’s a little marketing lesson in there for me, too.

But not only did these cognac or sienna brown sandals look sharp with so many outfits last summer, but they were also just extremely comfortable. I’m definitely ordering them in another color this spring, either the black or light taupe. They run true to size.

#10 – Veronica Beard Valentina Sneaker

How fun that so many of these top sellers are still available! I continue to see this Veronica Beard Valentina sneaker show up all of the place. I wore them to a college basketball game Saturday with my wide leg Ayr jeans, and they looked so sharp and felt great for all the walking we had to do.

This sporty, fashionable platform sneaker runs true to size for an extremely comfortable fit. They come in lots of other colors and styles, too.

#9 – Diorshow 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette

Here’s our first of only two beauty products to show up in our top 24 list. I’m still wearing the Diorshow 5 Couleurs eyeshadow palette that I first began sharing last spring.

I have the palette in 669 Soft Cashmere, but some of the other combinations are pretty, too. They have quite a few options, so click through to see them all. The main things I like about this shadow are that it is nicely pigmented but doesn’t go on too dark, the shades are easy to blend (without turning into mud!) and the shadow stays beautifully all day without creasing or fading.

#8 – Perforated Italian Leather Belt

I fell in love with cognac accessories this past year, so I showed a lot of this cognac perforated Italian leather belt from J.Crew. I think they call it cedar on the website. And it’s also available in black and dark mauve.

I find the belt to run true to size; I wear a medium-large.

#7 – Women’s Pointelle Calf Sock 3-Pack

A lot of readers purchased Bombas socks this year, and the top sellers were the pointelle calf socks I showed in this blog post.

When my son and daughter-in-law were here this weekend, we actually had a discussion about Bombas. They both love theirs and have worn them for years, and Daniel said they are just the best bang for your buck because they truly last longer than other brands. I have to agree.

# 6 – Paul Green Unity Platform Sneakers

One take-away from these analytics is definitely that good quality, wearable and fashionable shoes are very important to many of my readers and viewers. They’re important to me, too. When I first started paying more for good footwear a few years ago, it smarted a bit. But after having several pairs of Paul Green shoes along with some other good brands, I’ve learned the difference they make. It’s significant!

I got the Paul Green Unity platform sneakers in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and I hope a lot of you did, too. They’ve been on sale several times since, however, too. Now they’re almost sold out, but still available in limited sizes here and here.

#5 – Dolce Vita Linny H2O Suede Ankle Boots

I think most people who purchased these Dolce Vita Linny H2O Suede Ankle Boots actually bought them last winter, maybe in January and February. They are very comfortable and such a nice color. I heard a stylist just today talking about the importance of wearing boots in a lighter color under your full length jeans for a more balanced look, especially if you’re wearing mid-wash to light-wash jeans. These are just the color she was using.

Fortunately these boots are still available in most sizes. They’re very comfortable and fit true to size.

#4 – Talbots Tish Suede Ankle boots

But even more popular were the Talbots Tish suede ankle boots. Maybe that’s because many of you heard me say over and over that these are some of my absolute favorite boots. I have four pairs and wear them frequently.

I just think the heel is a nice height and the shoes feel comfortable and look nice. They’re not the most modern or stylish, but they are classy.

#3 – City Beauty City Lips

That brings us back to another beauty top seller, the City Beauty City Lips lip plumping gels. I wear one of these every single day and my lips have never felt or looked better. Not only do they nicely plump up your lips a little, but they help minimize feathering, keep your lips moist and truly provide healing properties.

#2 – Emily Lex Watercolor Paint Set & #1 Emily Lex Watercolor Workbooks

And that brings us to the big surprise. Yes, the top two best sellers of all at Dressed for My Day in 2024 – including fashions and non-fashions – were the Emily Lex watercolor paint sets and watercolor workbooks. A-Maze-Ing. Let’s just say, I think we gave Emily Lex and her team a very merry Christmas.

I’m truly pleased that these precious (and fun!) watercolor workbooks and paint sets were the top sellers because they’re from a small business owned by a delightful young woman. A lot of the books are out of stock right now, but they have restocked the paint sets recently, and I feel confident the books will get restocked soon, too. They make great gifts, but I LOVE having them for myself. I painted another page yesterday – a snowman, which seemed fitting as it was snowing outside. It’s such a great stress reliever and a good creativity booster. If I can do them, you can, too. I’m no artist, but I desperately needed something fun and slow and thoughtful like this to do every now and again. Yay for Emily!
