Mother’s Day is May 12 in the US this year, and if you celebrate by giving a special mother a gift I want to help you be ready. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite things that would make great gifts for a wide range of ages and affinities. Honestly, I usually buy the mothers in my life a “little something,” but a few years ago I did surprise my mom with an exquisite straw and leather Brighton bag that she continues to cherish and use today. And since I know many of my readers will share this list with their significant others as their own “wish list,” I did include the pricier items as well as some that are more budget friendly. Gift Guide for the Sporty Moms
I found some lovely and unique gift ideas Spartina 449. And if you’re looking for something pretty to wear to a Mother’s Day church service, brunch or gathering you might want to check out their beautiful ideas, too.
The accessories above include ones suitable for the pickleball, tennis or golf enthusiasts. And aren’t those coral colors so pretty? But they do come in other colors and patterns as well.
Sleepwear and Accessories
Next I rounded up some of my favorite pajamas and sleepwear accessories. I think these make such lovely gifts for moms of all ages.
My daughter and I both love our Lake pajamas, and she has a robe, too. I may have to get a set of their pjs for my mom this Mother’s Day. I love that you can get a 3-piece set that includes a short-sleeve scoop neck top, shorts, and pants. That’s how I wear pajamas generally. I wear the shorts to bed, but switch into the pants when I get up or to watch television or read before bedtime. That said, I think the pima shorts set in garden vines is just so sweet and feminine. I find that the Lake Pajamas website size guide is usually spot on. You can also check customer reviews at the bottom of each selection to see how customers found them to run. They are SOOO comfortable!
But I also love my pajamas from Haven Well Within.
I purchased the organic cotton poplin striped pajama pants & coordinating top (sold separately) for this summer, but I haven’t worn them yet. I tried them on and they fit true to size, but I’ve been saving them for my upcoming vacation. I recently ordered the Organic Cotton Jersey Fern Scallop Sleep Set as well, but it hadn’t yet arrived when I left town last week.
Fashion Accessories
I think fashion accessories make great gifts for the women in our lives, too. Especially if you know the woman well and understand a little about her personal style aesthetic, an accessory could delight her.
And because my mother loved her straw purse that I gave her a few years ago so much, I specifically gathered some similar handbags for you to consider, too. I think a straw or wicker bag is perfection for summer!
Jewelry
I also love giving thoughtful gifts of jewelry at Mother’s Day. I’ve selected some versatile pieces from my favorite jewelry sources. These will be accessories she will love and wear for years.
You can’t go wrong with two tone pieces like some of the Brighton jewelry above. But I also selected some more colorful pieces from Julie Vos. These are so bright and fun, especially for summer.
Desk Accessories

Blessed for My Day
As I’ve watched my daughter mother our little Hannah this past week, I was reminded how tiring that early stage of motherhood is. I’ve always said that mothering babies and preschoolers is physically exhausting, but the weariness doesn’t end when they grow up; it just changes. Parenting school age children was mentally taxing to me, as I struggled to keep up with packed schedules, new math and social science projects. Can I get an amen? And being the mother of grown children, especially while they were in college and just beyond, has been more emotionally exhausting at times, as my kids navigated rejection, fickle friendships, love lost and won, and disappointments and achievements. Do you relate?
Of course many of us also know that becoming a mother-in-law also presents new challenges. Hopefully those challenges are self-imposed as we simply seek to be the best mothers we can be to these new members of our family. But I do know that some moms have to navigate complicated relationships with difficult spouses to their children. These are all hard things, but we want to do our best to fulfill these roles in a godly way. Let’s take a moment today to pray through these relationships and recommit to being mothers and mothers-in-law who please the Lord and benefit our children.

Spartina 449 has been a favorite of mine for many years. I discovered the brand on a trip to Hilton Head. I recently purchased the Charlie zip tote straw and every single time I carry it I get compliments. It is a wonderful company.
