Style It Again! Plaid Wool Skirt Restyled

Every now and again I like to provide you with more than one look with a particularly versatile piece from my closet. Remember, we’re all about building a wardrobe that works for us! That means we stock our closets with beautiful pieces that can do more than one trick. Let’s see how I restyled the plaid wool skirt from this previous post with a cashmere sweater from my closet and my denim jacket.

Plaid Wool Skirt and Denim Jacket
plaid wool faux wrap skirt // similar cashmere sweater (more economical option) // denim jacket // navy tights // leather riding boots (more economical selection) // leather tote (more economical option) // bangle // gold hoop earrings (similar)

Really, these two outfits look very similar because they both feature denim. But I just love the look of denim with a wool plaid skirt. And in this outfit, you also get the opportunity to remove the jacket and simply wear a pretty cashmere sweater over a knee-length skirt – so classic!

Plaid Wool Skirt and Denim Jacket

Like I said, I pulled this bright pink cashmere sweater from my closet, where it’s been for years. To me, that’s the beauty of purchasing one or two pretty cashmeres each year. They’re so timeless and versatile.

Even as I type up this post in a completely different outfit, I’m wearing my caramel riding boots. They’re so comfortable I rarely even take them off while I work. Ha! These are also an investment, but I feel comfortable with it. However, I bought these lower priced boots in black last year and still enjoy them, too. They’re available in several great shades.

Cashmere and Denim

I tucked my sweater in loosely because it works better with my proportions this way. And when I wear a jacket or sweater over my waistline like this I don’t feel nearly as self-conscience about the tuck. Keep that in mind as you’re trying to achieve the look that works best for you.

Denim Jacket

My denim jacket is another strong workhorse in my wardrobe. I have it hanging in my closet on the ready all year long. And it’s the jacket I always take to conferences and retreats and such to ward off a chill indoors. I think it provides a more youthful, fresher vibe than wearing a cardigan.

I chose to wear these navy tights with my outfit for a warm, cozy vibe. But you could also wear a bare leg if you’d prefer. These tights fit great and are a bargain at Target.

You can create a similar layered look with any wool skirt you own. I actually have a couple of solid ones (a red one and a black one, of course…Go Dawgs!) and another plaid one or two. And of course this colorful wool skirt can also be worn with a solid white button up shirt or a turtleneck.

Blessed for My Day

How often do you pray for those who govern us? Honestly, I don’t pray nearly enough for our government and those in leadership. But it’s really unfruitful to complain about the state of our country (or state or city) without also being willing and committed to praying for it.

Today let’s pause and pray for those who are leading our country. Let’s pray for them to have uncanny wisdom, to be led by God’s Spirit, to conduct themselves with integrity and honesty and to be careful with their words. And let’s also choose to pray for them more than or even instead of complaining about them.

First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. ~ 1 Timothy 2:1-2

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. I went into Old Navy yesterday looking for a chambray shirt and came out with a white and blue stripped shirt?‍♀️ I’ll keep trying! I also love wearing my denim jacket with a variety of outfits. I agree that it creates a youthful look and I need that!

  2. I stopped by the Kenwood Store after BSF Wednesday and I was so tempted by this cute skirt. I finally decided on a sweater instead because I thought I would wear it more often. Haha, it’s like you are my little fashion angel on my shoulder whispering “get the skirt, you know you want it “??

  3. Thank you for sharing clothes more than once. It’s more practical for all of us and better that we don’t buy as many non essential clothes as well. Appreciate your style!

  4. Love seeing how to wear one item multiple ways!! I certainly need my clothes to work ‘double duty’! Also, I liked the tip about eating low carb 2-3 days a week. I tend to go ‘all in’ and I found this tip extremely useful! Enjoy your time with family!

  5. Kay, I hope your flight to Georgia was smooth. I really appreciate you showing us different outfits you can make just by changing out o few pieces. The detail on the skirt is beautiful. Oh, the riding boots I ordered arrived yesterday while we were gone to the funeral, so I didn’t find them on the front porch u til this morning. I am so excited that they fit and I love them. Can’t wait to wear them this next week.
