Hello, and welcome to Dressed for My Day. Today the first wave of shoppers get to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. And while I know most of us, including me, will not be shopping until later, I thought I’d turn our attention in that direction today. I’m providing the first of several Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Idea Guides that I’ll be sharing in the next couple of weeks. Today’s is all about staying home!
For these idea guides I’ll be providing collages of clothing, beauty products, accessories and even home goods you can find in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. But they’ll all tell a story and help you picture how these or similar items in the sale might work into your lifestyle.
#NSale Idea #1 – At Home Spa Day
It looks like we’ll continue to spend a good bit of time at home in the coming months. So why not make the most of it? I think this is a good year to spend a little more of our clothing budget on items that will help us feel comfortable, pretty and still on top of our game…while at home.
I say stay in these Nordstrom Moonlight Crop pajamas as long as you can. And the Steve Madden faux fur slippers will be oh so soft on your feet. If you get chilly, throw on this Barefoot Dreams CozyChic Lite cardigan. In my experience, those run a little small, so consider sizing up for the most comfy fit.
The Nordstrom Bliss Plush throws get high marks with repeat buyers each year. Cuddle up in it while you watch a good movie, something with all the romantic feels. Maybe light this Anthropologie Salt & Sand scented candle or you could run your Ultrasonic Cool Mist Macaron Aromatherapy Diffuser with these Pure & Natural 3-Pack Essential Oils.
When it is time to grab a shower, it will be a treat to use the L’Occitane Almond Shower Oil. And you can wrap your clean, damp hair in this terry hair towel (available in a print, too). Slather this Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve on your hands during your at-home manicure and you’ll never miss your nail salon.
While you’re sipping your Signature Kainaliu Kona Farms 100% Kona Whole Bean Coffee you can check in here at Dressed for My Day for your daily style inspiration. But then fill up your S’well Suzani stainless steel water bottle so you can make sure you stay hydrated throughout the day.
#NSale Idea #2 – Working from Home/Don’t Care
Next up I have another lounge worthy look for when you’re working from home, but have no conference calls or virtual meetings to attend. You’re taking things at your own pace today!
Why settle for a cardigan when you can have a Barefoot Dreams lounge set??? This two-piece set comes in desert sand, agave green or graphite (shown) and is constructed from silky, stretchy fabric perfect for lounging or working at your own pace. Add the Barefoot Dreams circle cardigan in Pacific blue (or one of the other three pretty shades) if it’s a cool day. Finally, slip your feet into these Minnetonka faux fur slippers. Who said you didn’t get dressed today?
In fact, you furry friend can curl up next to you and keep you company as you work. He’ll fit right in with his own Barefoot Dreams dog sweater. And when you can’t resist any longer, curl up beside him and grab a cat nap. You might need this Trisilk eye mask with cooling gel to help you grab a 30 minute power nap. Oh, and don’t forget your Nordstrom Pintuck oversized faux fur throw!
After a few more hours of hard work, surely it will be five o’clock somewhere! So you can wind down with this Corkcicle stemless insulated wine glass. Load this pretty marble and wood serving board down with some of your favorite meats, cheeses and fruits for a charcuterie dinner.
Working Hard; Living Well
Next, let’s put together something for a day when you’re working from home, but you do have those conference calls and meetings. Comfort is still the name of the game, but you might need to pull it together…at least up top!..for a part of the day.
Not only do I love working from home because I can decide what to wear on a whim, but also because I can take breaks throughout my day to get out for a quick walk. In the collage above I’ve allowed for that. Let’s start with the real star of the show, the Zella Live-In Joggers. Wear these all day for both comfort and style.
When you’re working incognito, you can simply wear your Zella Peaceful Twist T-Shirt. I’ve chosen the blue sterling, but it also comes in charcoal grey and white. But when you have to jump on a conference call, you can quickly switch into one of these three beautiful tops with interesting and flattering necklines: the Cece Puff Sleeve Crepe Top (here in green), the Gibson Surplice Blouson Sleeve Wrap Top (here in electric magenta) or the Vince Camuto polka dot v-neck top in rich black.
Be sure to grab a few 15-30-minute breaks throughout the day to dart out for a quick power walk. Just slip on these Zella liner socks with your Adidas Swift Run Sneakers. Top it off with your Zella Lola Soft Cozy Jacket if there’s a chill in the air.
Time to Get Dressed Already!
Even when you work from home or are retired there comes a time when it’s “time to get dressed already!” Okay, okay. So let’s put on some jeans, a pretty top and sweet flats. Maybe we’ll even get out and run some errands.
Yes, it’s time to put on some jeans. I love that these Levi’s 721s have a high waist and power stretch Sculpt denim. They’re sweet on your budget and they pair well with this Caslon high cuff Henley top in Burgundy beet. Top the duo with this Halogen Easy Throw-on Cashmere ruana on chilly days. I chose it here in beige oatmeal dark heather, but it comes in several other shades, too.
If you’re stepping out, slip into these Steve Madden animal print flats for easy style…at a great price! You’ll look oh so chic with your courier leather convertible bag and Tory Burch gradient square sunglasses. Oh, and don’t forget to add a little jewelry. How about these Gorjana bar chain earrings and palm coin pendant necklace.
I slipped the Bobbi Brown Easy Eye, Cheek and Lip set in for good measure! Perfect shades to create a natural but elevated look.

Blessed for My Day
It’s tempting to pick and choose the Bible verses we read, gravitating toward those that resonate with our personal needs or make us feel good about ourselves. But the Bible is a book that must be read in the context of the Bible. That means it’s best understood when we study and familiarize ourselves with the entire breadth of God’s Word.
Sure, we’ll understand parts of it more easily than we can comprehend other parts. And yes, some of it will seem dry and irrelevant at times. But if we consistently read through the Bible in a systematic way we’ll soon discover that we understand things much more clearly than when we simply cherry picked our favorite passages. In fact, we may discover that some of those “cherries” are not as sweet as we’d first thought!
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. ~ 2 Timothy 3:16-17
