Happy Memorial Day 2025! I do hope you get to enjoy some relaxing time with friends and/or family today. And I hope we all have a nice unofficial kick-off to summer. But we definitely want to pause at some point today and remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. I am so grateful to live in this country and to have enjoyed those hard-fought freedoms. If you are remembering a loved one who died in service to our country today, I want you to know that I appreciate your sacrifice and pray for this day to be one of honor and sweet remembrances rather than pain and sorrow. As grateful as I am to be an American, I am forever more glad to be a part of the family of God. I know that our God is sovereign and rules over the nations. And in a day when things seem somewhat divided and degenerating in our land, I am thankful that He still reigns.
So yes, today we give thanks for those who died for our freedom. But we also praise the Lord for the great things He has done. He has truly been gracious to our country. I do not know how long that grace will continue to extend. But I am very thankful that He has shown us such favor in our limited history. Praise the Lord.

We live in SW Ohio and have stayed in a cabin at Hocking Hills. We really enjoyed it too. If you’re looking for a place to eat today, there’s a good restaurant we took our son and daughter-in-law to last September when they were visiting. It’s The Ridge Inn in Laurelville across from Laurelville Fruit Farm. The food is really good. If you decide to go you may want to call to make sure they’re open today.

Kay, your mention of Hocking Hills brought back such good memories for me! My late husband and I lived in Columbus in the 1970s while he earned his PhD at Ohio State. During those years we loved to visit Hocking Hills on day trips. Coming from the totally flat land of the Gulf Coast, the geography of that area was so fascinating to us. Those trips are my absolute best memories of my years as a Buckeye. Enjoy your visit!
