Happy Memorial Day weekend, dear reader. As we pause to be thankful for those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms and safety, we also celebrate the unofficial start of summer. And that generally means noteworthy sales abound. In fact, this year it seems like stores are treating this weekend as a sort of Black Friday for Summer! The offers are significant and wear-now styles are included. I’ve got everything you’ll need to shop smart in our Memorial Day Weekend Shopping Headquarters, and I’ll keep this post updated through the weekend, so check in each day.

For your easy reference, I’m sharing sales in alphabetic order by retailer. But I’m also denoting my favorite sales that I think are offering the most noteworthy deals with the KAY’S FAVE mark. Let’s shop!
KAY’S FAVE – Ann Taylor is offering 40% off + an extra 15% off your purchase through May 24th (Saturday), so this deal will probably change on Sunday. But weigh the risk of waiting for that deal since sizes and colors often sell out at Ann Taylor when they offer discounts this deep. KAY’S FAV – At Athleta get 40% off all shorts, tanks, tees and dresses. I work out in this tank and these shorts. I also have and love this tee in shell pink, this linen shirt in raphanus pink and these linen shorts (love!) in the same color.
Shop Avara’s Memorial Day Weekend Sale and get 30% off + an extra 40% off sale styles. It looks like the 30% off is on select items, but these are wear-now styles, such as this colorful dress and these Maeve jeans.
KAY’S FAVS – My Away luggage rarely goes on sale, but this weekend through May 27th, Away is offering up to 20% off select luggage styles and more just in time for summer travel. I have the Bigger Carryon in coast blue and the Everywhere Bag in jet black. Both are marked down in a lot of color choices this weekend. My Medium suitcase (check this one) in coast blue is also included in the markdowns. This is a tremendous sale, really worth checking out.
At Banana Republic you’ll get 30% off your full-price purchase in their Summer Preview. Rewards members get FREE shipping on orders of $50+.
KAY’S FAVE – Banana Republic Factory is offering EVERYTHING 50%-70% off. That includes some of the items I modeled in this recent blog post on a favorite summer outfit formula.
Beek is having a rare sale this Memorial Day Weekend with a straight $50 off with code SUMMER50. These shoes rarely go on sale, so now is the time to jump on them if you’re interested.
Get 25% off everything Boden. I haven’t shopped Boden in a while (but I NEED to!). I’ve rounded up some of the items that are drawing me in right now. They’re known for their beautiful dresses and bright colors. And my daughter Abigail loves her Boden swimsuit, so I’ve included a few of those in the shopping widget below. Yeah, I’m definitely ordering a few things from Boden this weekend.

At Eileen Fisher check out the pop-up Linen Sale with 25% off on select linen items. Several items I own are included, like this classic linen button-up shirt (in select colors), my organic linen bias skirt, my white organic linen high collar jacket. Mother premium denim is offering up to 50% off wear-now styles in their sale this weekend only. They offer a lot more than just denim, but if you’re specifically looking for jeans, start HERE. Mother does carry petites, too.
Nordstrom is having their Half Yearly Sale with savings up to 60% off top brands, such as Eileen Fisher, Paul Green, Veronica Beard, Sanctuary and more. But sizes and color options are slim. I suggest using their filters on their website to shop for your size and color preferences.
Nordstrom Rack is lowering prices even further this weekend. You’ll get an extra 25% off clearance items.
Old Navy is giving you 50% deals with savings on over 3,600 styles.
Paige, the makers of my favorite Anessa jeans, is offering 25% off sitewide already. Shop the Anessa wide leg jeans in all their different washes, designs and sizes (including petite and plus sizes. Or I also am a big fan of the Sasha, a longer leaner wide leg jean. And I love the ecru option.

And when we remember these things we’ll be more equipped to handle the future with grace and faith.

I have to chuckle as you ask about returning to the salon. Why yes, who hasn’t? Not for a color correction, but a cut correction, more than once. My current stylist calls me hair obsessed! My feeling is this, with the prices for a cut and color, it should be exactly what we want. So, return for correction!

Question about slip shorts. Do they replace a slip & when do you wear them as opposed to a slip ?
Hi Elizabeth. Sometimes they replace a slip, but other times I still prefer to wear a slip and the slip shorts. If they are silky enough to keep your skirt from hiking up as you walk and the skirt is not sheer, I just wear the slip shorts. But if the dress is sheer and needs a slip I still wear one. And if the dress is course – such as some linen – and the slip shorts are not especially silky, my experience is that the skirt will still crawl up as you walk so you need a slip. I really wear the slip shorts mainly to prevent thighs touching, which is just a pet peeve of mine. I don’t really get thigh chafing, but I just can’t stand for my thighs to touch at all. Yeah, I’m weird like that..,
