Hi sweet gal, and welcome to Dressed for My Day! Today’s post is pure outfit inspiration. And since most of us aren’t going much of anywhere right now, it’s inspiration you’ll need to tuck in your back pocket for “one of these days.” But as soon as we head back to church or the theaters open or we get to visit our favorite restaurants again, I’ll be wearing this chic spring outfit…topped two different ways.

Leopard Print V-Neck Blouse (40% off) // Patch Pocket Crop Chinos (up to 50% off) // Ann Cardigan // Studded Gladiator Slide Sandal (flat option) // black leather hobo bag (more economical option) // Elisa Multi Strand Necklace // Earrings // black reversible belt (up to 50% off)

You’ve seen me wear these Patch Pocket Crop Chinos before in several posts (here, here and here!) But today I’ve added a bold splash of leopard print and sprinkled my footwear with edgy gold studs. This outfit is full of interest and polish.

For my first look, I topped my Patch Pocket Crop Chinos with a closet essential, my black Ann Cardigan. A medium gives me a generous but still tailored fit in this wardrobe workhorse. I especially love the way the black Ann Cardigan and the toasted barley Patch Pocket Crop Chinos harmonize with my leopard print blouse.

I’m wearing my normal size 8 in the patch pocket crop chinos and they fit to a T. They have a high waist and straight, full legs. They’re made of 98% cotton and 2% Spandex for a luxuriously authentic feel with just enough stretch. I think these patch pocket crop chinos are extremely versatile, but they’re also available in indigo blue, port wine, rosemary green and steel blue. And just through today they’re available for up to 50% off (with the purchase of two additional items).

I generally like to tuck my shirts into my high waist pants for a more balanced 1/3 to 2/3 proportions. But you could just give this pretty blouse a gentle front tuck, too. I froze in order to give you a look at this leopard print blouse without the topper. It’s got a breezy pleated front and drapes beautifully. It runs large; I’m wearing a small.

Let’s talk jewelry before moving onto the second topper. To accent the black in the shirt, I wore my Elisa multi strand necklace. I customized my necklace as you can right here. My earrings are a sweet deal from Target. And my tortoise shell bracelet is no longer available, but this one is similar.

Had you already guessed that my second topper for this chic spring outfit would be my favorite denim jacket? Hahaha! You know me too well! I’ve been constantly grabbing this authentic denim jacket for well over two decades.

I especially like how this authentic trucker jacket‘s slightly cropped and tapered silhouette works with high waist chinos.

Now don’t look too closely at my feet (#socialdistancing #nopedicure), but I do want you to check out these gold studded black strappy sandals. These 1 1/2″ heel sandals are the perfect combination of comfort, ease and chic. I think they look a little edgy but without making me look like I’m trying too hard. ‘Cause you know, who wants to look like that? *wink* I’m wearing my usual 9.5 with comfort.

Unfortunately these modern sandals are no longer on sale at the price I paid. And sizes are going fast. But they do come in a variety of colors. And if you’re more interested in a flat version of this shoe, check out these flat slides.

Can you believe the difference swapping out one topper for another can make in an outfit? Depending on your personal style essence…or you current mood…you can completely transform a look with just one piece! And I love both of these looks. I hope you enjoyed today’s post, too.

Blessed for My Day

Yesterday I went from zipping through my day with a song on my lips one minute to feeling like pond scum the next. Does that ever happen to you? Someone’s words hurt my feelings, and as much as I knew I shouldn’t give them weight, I let them pull me down, down, down. And honestly, I hate it when that happens. I hate it that I can be so fickle with my feelings, so up and down, so easily pulled at. Don’t you?

But I also know the One who can lift my countenance when I’ve allowed my chin to droop in discouragement. So I called out to Him, shared with Him my struggle and asked Him to heal my superficial but still throbbing wounds. Then I left my sob story with Him and went on about my work. Sure enough, within minutes He had righted my thinking and lifted my head. Ahh, we have a good, good God.

But you, O Lord, are a shield about me,
my glory, and the lifter of my head.
I cried aloud to the Lord,
and he answered me from his holy hill. ~ Psalm 3:3-4

Spread the love
xoxo, Kay

  1. So sorry your feelings were hurt. Mama always said, ‘If you can’t say anything nice, say nothing.’ Unfortunately, too many people just don’t get this. Personally, your blog is one of my absolute favorites and I am so glad I found it. I love the fashion element as much as the Blessed for my Day. Keep up the good work. Have a great day Kay.

    1. Thanks so much Peggy. I really didn’t mean to sound whiney. Lol. I enjoy doing what I do. Thanks so much for the encouragement!

  2. From my experience when someone lashes out to hurt someone, it is they who have the issues… I have struggled all my life with a sister like this, come to find out her life was nothing she portrayed it to be, So I have learned people will tear you down to make themselves feel better, and a lot of the time they are jealous of that person. It took a lot of soul searching for me to realize this, and prayers. have a good day ,sweet gal.

    1. Hi Kathy. You’re so right. And I tell myself these things, but careless words still hurt. Even when I know better than to allow them to. But that’s why I’m so glad to allow God to minister to those wounds. Thanks so much for sharing. Blessings!

    2. I can relate, Kathy, for me it’s my mother. When you’re related, it’s very difficult to overcome. Prayer, time, and distance is my key. ❤️
I love the jean jacket with this outfit Kay!

  3. What a great BFMD! I find it interesting how we usually end up hurting those that love us so much more than we hurt others. That’s not right! And saying, “I’m sorry” doesn’t flow off of our tongue as quickly and easily as it should. I really like both outfits on you and that blouse is fabulous! The jean jacket outfit is one I would wear the most. I looked at the studded sandals at Nordstrom, but I can’t consider them since they don’t have arch support. Darn it! Central GA is at a big threat for severe weather, again tomorrow. This will be our third round in less than 2 weeks. Ugh! We had over 8” of rain with the one that hit this past Sunday. The people that have already taken a hard hit just don’t need this. ?? Enjoy your time outside today!

  4. Kay, your blog is a bright spot in my day- – everyday. The common sense advice on shopping, styling outfits, and makeup are valuable. I have learned so much from you. The best part is that you strive to bring God’s Word to your readers with great gentleness. Thank you for all that you do.
My grandmother always used to tell me to “ have a tin ear” when someone would try to hurt me with words. It was her way of reminding me to let the unkind words bounce off and not take root in my heart.
    God bless you, Kay.

  5. psalms 91 is a great refresher for our spirits when they are low. They remind us that our resting place from the worlds harsh words, is in the arms of Jesus.
I love these shoes. Just still trying on the hi water pants for size. None look right on me.
