Happy Friday! It’s time again for me to share with you how I’ve really dressed for my days recently. I’m pleased to say I got by in the groove of taking daily photos this week, and I have photos of every outfit I wore…including the day I did put any makeup on. Ha! I gotta love you to post that one! And this week I wore linen every day. So it’s a week full of linen outfits for summer.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask.

I try to focus on how I styled things and why I wore what I wore rather than product details here. But if you need to know more about a piece, just ask in the comments. Let’s run through this week’s spring outfits.

What I Wore On Friday

I do have photos, but I’m a little fuzzy on what I did some days. But I’m pretty sure I just worked from home on Friday and we had a quiet dinner at home. I wore my coordinating linen separates from Eileen Fisher for a comfortable, but elevated look that day.

Linen V-Neck Tee // Eileen Fisher Linen Pants // Sandals // Earrings // Chain Necklace // Coin Necklace

I did give the Linen V-Neck Tee a little front tuck into the Eileen Fisher Linen Pants just to keep the outfit a little neater and pulled together. But of course since it’s a tonal look it wasn’t necessary as far as proportions go. Linen already has a very casual vibe, so I do find it helps to do little things like a front tuck to kind of minimize the sloppiness.

What I Wore on Saturday & Saturday Night

Saturday I spent four hours at our local J.Crew styling women’s outfits. It was a lot of fun and, accoring to the manager, a huge success for the store. It had been a while since I had been on my feet that long, but I made it! And in heels!

Textured Sweater Tank// Parke Linen Blazer // Kate Straight Leg Pants // Sandals (similar) // Earrings // Clutch

I felt sharp and comfortable in my Textured Sweater Tank, Parke Linen Blazer and Kate Straight Leg Pants. J.Crew gifted me this outfit as my compensation for the gig. But I got to pick it out, which of course was very fun. I walked comfortably for well over four hours in these pretty Sandals.

When I got home I needed to work a little in the office and then we went to Chick Fil A for a late dinner. I’d loved wearing the radiant orchid Textured Sweater Tank so much I didn’t want to take it off. So I just changed into my black Eileen Fisher Linen Pants and my Miller Sandals (from last year, but still available and on sale!).

Textured Sweater Tank // Eileen Fisher Linen Pant //Miller Sandals // Earrings

By the way, that sweater is marked down 25% temporarily and so worth the investment. I really want the dark beechwood one, too. Such a pretty neutral. One customer on the website remarked that the sweater runs big, but I don’t think so. I’m wearing my TTS medium nicely.

What I Wore to Church on Sunday

And I wore the purple sweater again Sunday! By the way, you may recall that my chosen signature colors for the spring are pink, two shades of blue and green…not purple. Ha! But I don’t mind adding a piece here and there that aren’t in my selected colors, as long as I can wear the piece with plenty of things in my closet. And you can see how versatile this vivid orchid sweater is.

Smock Waist Skirt // Textured Sweater Tank // Denim Jacket // Miller Sandals // Earrings // Bag // Bracelet

It paired very nicely with my Smock Waist Skirt. It’s a bummer that the skirt still isn’t on sale, but it is still available in all sizes. I’m wearing a medium. I felt comfortable and pretty in this outfit for Mother’s Day. I think I kept it on all day, even after we’d gotten home from church. Oh, I did change when we went for a quick hike in the late afternoon, but I don’t have a photo of that.

What I Wore on Monday

Monday our son Daniel was still here. He’d gotten here on Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day with me. We ventured out to a few places for lunch and shopping. I started the day in the brown toned outfit with black accents below.

Top // Eileen Fisher Linen Pants // Sandals (similar option) // Coach Bag // Glasses (similar) // Bracelet // Necklace // Earrings // Watch (use code KAYHARMS for 15% off)

I wanted to wear those black Sandals (similar option), so when we went out I used my black Coach Bag and wore black Glasses. But in full disclosure, I ended up switching into this charcoal cotton sweater before I left the house because it was quite chilly Monday. That combo worked nicely, too.

Tuesday

Tuesday it started warming up again a bit, so I opted for linen shorts. I wore my blue and white striped Washed Linen Shorts with a blue Tank and White Linen Shirt over it.

Tank //White Linen Shirt // Washed Linen Shorts // Metallic Slide Sandal // Bracelet // Necklace // Earrings

This is the kind of outfit I especially enjoy wearing in the summer. I don’t think I ever got so warm that I needed to take the White Linen Shirt off, but this outfit does have that versatility.

What I Wore on Wednesday

I’m working really hard right now to get ahead for our two weeks of vacation. I’ve brought my assistants into the mix even more and we are making great progress. But I just never even had time to get my makeup on Wednesday. I did get dressed, however.

Tank // Cardigan (similar) // Performance Linen Pants // Sandals // Kendra Scott Necklace // Coin Necklace // Chain Necklace // Earrings (gifted) // Bracelet (gifted)

I love, love, love a soft monochromatic look. So these white Performance Linen Pants paired with an ecru Tank is right up my alley. I topped the combo with a linen cardigan from last year and wore my neutral Sandals. I like to mix my metals in my jewelry when I wear white and beige or camel, so I wore my new Lagos Earrings (gifted) and Bracelet (gifted) that feature silver and gold. Then I added in some pretty silver and gold necklaces.

What I Wore on Thursday

And then yesterday I had some appointments, so I wore my black Sedona linen dress. I love this dress. It also comes in white and buffalo brown. It’s pricey, but right now if you use a Gap Inc. card (Gap, Old Navy, Banana Republic or Athleta) you can get 30% off sitewide.

Linen Dress // Coach Hand Bag // Ally Heels (Use code KAYHEELS) // Onyx Pendant Necklace (gifted) // Earrings (gifted) // Bracelet (gifted) // Watch (use code KAYHARMS for 15% off)

The black Sedona linen dress felt so pretty and chic. And my new Ally cap toe block heel pumps felt amazing right out of the box. These pumps feature a lower heel (2″) and come in a full range of sizes and widths. I wear a wide in Ally pumps, whereas I usually wear a medium. So use their size guide to determine your Ally size. And be sure to use code KAYHEELS for $40 off your first pair of heels at Ally. I loved the way this simple outfit came together.

So that’s a wrap! A week full of linen outfits for summer. Thanks so much for dropping in.

Blessed for My Day

When things go amiss it’s tempting to assume that the Lord doesn’t care…or worse, He’s left us. While I know intellectually that God is always with me, I sometimes feel like He has lost interest in me or that I’ve somehow lost His favor. Do you ever have similar feelings? When we don’t see God actively working on our behalf, we may assume He isn’t working at all.

But the truth is that God is indeed with His children. He loves us dearly and we are always on His mind. He is always at work and He is doing good things for us. When we doubt God’s presence we may be come less confident, more fearful and even distracted with the world. But when we remember that God is indeed with us we are encouraged, inspired to live more holy lives and motivated to obey His precepts.

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” ~ Judges 6:12-13

  1. Love all the linen! I wear linen most days all summer long. AND just in case you want my opinion…..I love your hair curly!

  2. Kay, you look stunning in that orchid sweater tank. What style bra do you recommend wearing with it.

Did I miss the video on Wednesday? For some reason, your emails are going to my junk box. I moved them twice back to my inbox. I know it my computer. I’ll figure it out:) You are the only blog I follow!

  4. I am hosting a milestone birthday celebration for my husband June 3
It will be held at my friends lake house
    Weather forecast is ~71 deg
Can you recommend a casual but put together outfit? I am thinking of white ankle pants and a pretty top of some kind
I like to think I am a young 66 year old woman who does not want to look frumpy but put together!! Thanks

    1. I think white pants and a pretty top in a color you love sounds perfect. And maybe some metallic or nude sandals. Enjoy!

  5. Oh my goodness, Kay! In that “radiant orchid” J Crew tank, you LOOK radiant (and sexy!)! Wow! I’ve never written in before, but wanted to thank you for all the style information and store sales you share. I feel inspired by your “Blessed For My Day”, as well. It is easy to see you are a beautiful woman inside and out! Thank you for your blog and helping me keep updated!

  6. Kay, I am a fairly new follower of DFMD. I enjoy you videos and posts a great deal and have taken many of your suggestions to up date my outfits.
I loved that you included your day with NO makeup. Yes, makeup is fun and enhances our looks; it certainly gives many of us more confidence and polish. But it does not make us “more beautiful.” That derives from how we choose to live our lives. So thanks for including photos with you looking happy, energetic, and filled with purpose WITH and WITHOUT makeup.
