Welcome to a new blog post series for 2024! Instead of just sharing what’s been hot at DFMD for the month, I’m back to sharing your favorites along with my own. We’ll call this new series “a Few of Our Favorite Things,” and I’ll share them at the end of each month (or, more realistically, as the new month begins). Let’s check out a few of our favorite things for January 2024.

a Few of Your Favorite Things in January 2024
First, let’s run through the items that have been hot, Hot, HOT with my viewers and readers at Dressed for My Day. These are the products that people have clicked through here at the blog, on the YouTube channel and in my LTK Shop resulting in sales the most often. So while I do not really know if every person who clicked through these items and purchased something indeed purchased these exact items or something else once you got to the retailer’s website, I do know that these fashions or beauty products were very popular.
We’ll run through these top sellers in order of popularity, starting with number 12 and culminating in the number 1 best selling item at DFMD in January 2024.
Striped Ribbed Henley Tee
I shared this Striped Ribbed Henley Tee from Talbots in this blog post just a couple of days ago. But it’s been selling consistently all month, so I must have mentioned in a newsletter that I had purchased it.
Both stripes and Henley tees are really trending this year, so this Striped Ribbed Henley Tee checks so many boxes. It fits true to size; I’m wearing a medium. But be aware that the sleeves do run long.
Washable Stretch Silk Tiered Maxi Dress
Ever since I shared this blog post about some great finds at Quince, this Washable Stretch Silk Tiered Maxi Dress has been selling well. And I’m so thrilled. This dress truly is flattering on every body shape. Even if you don’t have a waistline, the smocked waist on the dress will give you one!
The beautiful, long length dress also comes in other colors. It runs true to size.
Geo Knit Dress
I do not have this beautiful Geo Knit Dress, nor have I ever seen it in person. But it sure is a looker! And the Geo Knit Dress has been extremely popular ever since I shared it in my Favorites from the Talbots January Collection Snapshot.
Since I haven’t really shared this dress in a blog post or video, I created a style board for it here. If you purchased this dress, I’d love to hear what you think about it. I think it would be beautiful for work, church or a nice luncheon. I’m so tempted to order it!
Contrast Trimmed Button-Cuff Top
It was so fun working with J.Jill this month. That’s when I shared this Contrast Trimmed Button-Cuff Top (c/o). It’s a fun top to wear alone or over a shirt like I’ve shown below.
I’m wearing a size small in the Contrast Trimmed Button-Cuff Top, as I usually do in J.Jill tops and dresses.
Knit Button Front Shirt
According to my stats, the Knit Button Front Shirt that has been oh so popular with DFMD followers in January is the solid color one. But I only have that Knit Button Front Shirt in stripes. The solid Knit Button Front Shirt is available in indigo blue and vivid pink, which I think is so cheerful.
I think tops like these make great wardrobe pieces because they’re basic enough to work with many things, but they have interesting details that make them unique. This Knit Button Front Shirt runs true to size, but be aware that if you are larger in the bust this top may not be for you.
Linny H2O Bootie
I don’t think I’ve actually ever styled anything for the blog with these Linny H2O Booties, but I wear them in real life frequently. I must have said so because I’ve been seeing these show up in my analytics almost daily for the past month. In fact, I’m wearing them right now!
I like the Linnie H2O Bootie in this truffle suede because it’s a medium intensity bootie that goes with so many things beautifully. They’re still well-stocked in most sizes; they run true to size for a nice fit. Best news? These Linnie H2O Bootie are an amazing 60% off! They also come in a light suede that would be perfect for spring, but it’s less available and just 40% off.
Straight Leg Jeans in Carolina Wash
I haven’t worn my new Straight Leg Jeans in Carolina Wash just a whole lot yet, but I sure do like them. Evidently a lot of my readers do, too. I think we’re just all always on the hunt for good straight leg jeans, don’t you? I know I am. And these mid to light wash jeans feel great and look great.
They’re going to be perfect for spring and summer, too. The Straight Leg Jeans in Carolina Wash run true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 8 in Talbots jeans.
Veronica Beard Valentina Sneaker
Talk about comfortable! These Veronica Beard Valentina Sneakers are some of the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever worn. They’re a splurge, but I’ve already gotten great cost per wear out of them. I need a bit of a heel in any shoes I wear; I just can’t wear real flats for more than a couple of hours anymore. So these Veronica Beard Valentina Sneakers are just perfect for me.
The Veronica Beard Valentina Sneaker runs true to size; I’m wearing my usual size 9.5 with a lightweight sock here. They also come in a number of other color combinations. You just slip them on; no need to tie them. They’re also available here and here.
Black High Waist Straight Leg Jeans
I’m not sure I’ve worn these Black High Waist Straight Leg Jeans since I returned home from Christmas vacation, but seeing them here reminds me that I absolutely should. I had wanted some very solid black jeans for a while, and I’m so happy with these.
The Black High Waist Straight Leg Jeans from Talbots run true to size.
Talbots New England Chinos
Now this is really funny. I have these photos ready to go for a blog post, but I decided to hold them back a bit. Nonetheless, these Talbots New England Chinos have been selling like hot cakes! Maybe many of my readers share my love affair with chinos and also wanted to try this new style.
While I’m okay with the outfit above, I actually think I’ll like these Talbots New England Chinos styled better with sandals or loafers or some other shoe that shows a little skin. What do you think? They’re definitely a boxier fit, but I’m up for the challenge of styling them some more. I’m all for staying current and pushing myself to try new things. If you bought these, hang with me! We’ll work on getting them styled just right!
Talbots Southampton Pants
Now here’s a new pant from Talbots that I am all behind. I have absolutely fallen in love with the Southampton Pants. I hope you love yours, too. They’re the number 2 top seller at DFMD in January.
I first got the camel color Southampton Pants and have worn them a couple of times, including in yesterday’s YouTube video (see below). But I’ve since purchased the black ones, too. They run true to size; I’m wearing a size 10 misses. I think these pants are so versatile. In the video you see me dress them up and down.
Ultra Wide Leg Denim Trousers
And our number one top seller at DFMD in January was the Ultra Wide Leg Denim Trousers. Wow! I’m so impressed. That tells me that many of my readers and YT viewers are at least willing to try the new wide leg trend, and I think that’s just grand.
These Ultra Wide Leg Denim Trousers run true to size; I’m wearing a misses 8. I think they’ll be a really nice length for me with sandals later on.
a Few of Kay’s Favorite Things in January 2024
Now let’s check out some of my favorite things in January 2024. My favorites are the things I’m loving, wearing, using and even enjoying. They’re not all new, but some are. Truly, these are just things I want to share with you!
Talbots Southampton Pants
Yes, I too love the Talbots Southampton Pants. I didn’t know they were going to be on your list. I had my assistant Holly run the analytics and create the graphic for the reader/viewer favorites. But I couldn’t have a list of my favorite things and not include these versatile pants.
I’ve also loved my Veronica Beard Valentina Sneakers and a few other things on “your list,” too. But we’ll move on to other favorites that weren’t in the top seller list.
Black Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket
At the end of the year I generally reward myself with a significant and meaningful purchase if I have met the business goals I’d set for myself during the year. I almost always use rewards points for these so that it truly feels like a gift to myself and not so much an outlay of cash. This year I purchased the Black Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket I’d been wanting for so long.
True, I already have this jacket in navy and camel. But I wear black so frequently and truly feel my best in it, as crazy as that may sound. I know I’ll have this Black Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket for years, and I’ve already enjoyed wearing it several times in the few short weeks I’ve had it. The Black Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket runs slightly large; I wear a size 8, similar to the fit I have in Talbots blazers. You can get it in both navy and black with silver or gold buttons. And of course you can zip in dickeys that make this jacket so versatile (they’re sold separately).
Brighton Astrid Organizer (c/o)
When I partnered with Brighton and ordered the Brighton Astrid Organizer (c/o) I really had no idea that it would fast become my favorite bag. It’s just so convenient with all those pockets and compartments. I especially love the side compartments with magnetic closures.
I’m also really enjoying this bourbon color, but it does come in others. I have a feeling I’ll be carrying it through spring and summer, too.
Mixing My Lagos and Brighton Jewelry
I don’t exactly know why I hadn’t been doing this before, but lately I’ve taken to wearing my Lagos (c/o) and Brighton (c/o) jewelry together. Because I have mixed metal pieces in both of those sets of jewelry, it’s been so easy to wear them together.
Above I’m wearing my Brighton Intrigue bracelet with my Lagos Derby two-tone caviar buckle bracelet. But I’ve also mixed in my Lagos huggie earrings and caviar onyx pendant necklace at times, as well as my Brighton Intrigue earrings, Interlok trio petite necklace and Mediterranean long necklace. I just really like how these two brands look with each other. Sweet!
All My Secrets by Lynn Austin
I have had the joy of being on several of Lynn Austin’s book launch teams. She is one of my very favorite Christian fiction authors. Most of her books are historical fiction, and I always enjoy the way she makes her characters very well-rounded and realistic, flaws and all.
I took a couple of days recently to just sit by the fire and devour her newest book, All My Secrets (c/o). The book is set in the gilded age and the story is told from the perspective of three women of different generations. If you enjoy historical fiction, you’ll love this book. You can pre-order it now, and it actually releases on February 6th.
Colleen Rothschild Face Oil No. 9
I know I talk about this Colleen Rothschild Face Oil No. 9 constantly, but I just have to sing its praises. While I use good skincare, too, I credit this face oil with keeping my skin hydrated and healthy through the harsh winter months.
I apply the Colleen Rothschild Face Oil No. 9 at night after I’ve completed the rest of my skincare steps. It locks in the serum and moisturizer so that they can do the work I pay them to do, ha! I awaken in the morning with healthy feeling skin. And when I fail to use it? I wake up to dry, taut skin.
City Beauty City Lips Night Oil
Likewise, I use the City Beauty City Lips Night Oil every night just before going to bed. And when I get up in the morning my lips are smooth and moist, not parched or flaky.
The City Beauty City Lips Night Oil has changed the health of my lips so much. I used to constantly battle dry, chapped lips, but no more. Of course I also wear the City Beauty City Lips lip glosses during the day, too, and they also work to keep my lips healthy and plump.
Necessaire Body Care Products
While we’re on skincare, I also have to sing the praises of my Necessaire Body Care Products. I’ve used all four of these products religiously this winter and my skin has never felt better. We don’t set our thermostat very high at all in the winter, but the heater still runs off and on all day and night due to the cold temperatures we’ve had this year. And the heat is so harsh on my dryness-prone skin. But these products are keeping me itch-free and healthy.
If I were going to buy just a couple of these products, I’d recommend the body wash and the body serum, but I definitely use the body exfoliator even more in the summer and the body lotion is a great product, too. You can use code HARMS10 for 10% off at Necessaire. By the way, you can get all four products in fragrance-free, but I love the eucalyptus scent for the body wash and body exfoliator.
Binoculars
James put up a new birdfeeder recently, so now we have two in our backyard. We get so many beautiful birds here year-round. But during the winter we’ll sometimes be visited by as many as a dozen cardinals at once. They’re stunning.
And we’ve also been siting a number of birds that only visit our area during the winter. We’ve been using our Birds of Ohio book to identify them easily. On any given day James and/or I can be found looking through our back window with our binoculars (we each have our own) watching the Cardinals, Blue Birds, Dark-eyed Juncos, White Crowned Sparrows and Purple Finches. And you know we’ll be taking those binoculars on our Alaskan cruise in May!
Estee Lauder Pure Color Cream Lipstick
Recently I noticed a couple of holes in my small collection of lipsticks. I needed a nude shade or two to wear when I didn’t want a lot of color. And I also wanted a new pink tone that wasn’t Barbie pink, but more rosy.
So I ordered my favorite lipstick, the Estee Lauder Pure Color Cream Lipstick, in 561 Intense Nude and 131 Bois de Rose. Not only am I enjoying these new shades, but my Estee Lauder Pure Color Cream Lipstick is always one to go on smoothly and very creamy. I find it to last a long time too.
Me+Em Italian Wool Crop Forever Jacket
I’ve been wanting a classic cropped length jacket for sometime now. It’s been on my wardrobe wish list for seemingly forever. So when I found the Me+Em Italian Wool Crop Forever Jacket it seemed like my search was over.
The Me+Em Italian Wool Crop Forever Jacket was definitely an investment, but I think I’ll wear it so many years. I always hesitate to say “forever” because who knows. But it’s such a classic. Anyhow the jacket really checks all the boxes for me. It’s a quality coat, very warm and looks great with jeans or dress slacks alike.
By the way, I wear a size 8 in the Me+Em Italian Wool Crop Forever Jacket. In the photo just above with jeans, I’m wearing the size 10. But I immediately switched out of it into the 8, which is shown in the top photo. That’s a much better fit in the shoulders.
Cashmere Zip Hoodie
And my final January favorite that I want to share with you is my Me+Em Cashmere Zip Hoodie. So far I’ve just worn it with this graphic tee and camel pants a couple of times. But I’m excited to try other ways to wear this trending sweater/jacket.
I have noticed that Quince has a comparable cashmere zipper hoodie for a great price. But theirs does seem a little more oversized. I think it will be fun to wear into the spring and then again next fall.
Thanks so much for stopping in!

Blessed for My Day
Do you have a job that needs to be done, but you’ve just struggled to even get started? I get it! I can be the world’s worst at starting daunting projects, much less finishing them. Ha! But I was reminded in my daily Bible reading this morning that God expects us to be industrious and get our work done. It’s for our good and to His glory.
Proverbs 6:6-8 tells me that we are to be self-initiating, self-disciplined and industrious if we expect to have our needs met. Yes, God graciously provides us with everything we need for daily life. We do not need to worry about our provisions. But we do have to do our part in order to live well. Let’s get going on that thing that has gone undone. I’ll tackle one of those projects today. Will you join me?
Go to the ant, O sluggard;
consider her ways, and be wise.
Without having any chief,
officer, or ruler,
she prepares her bread in summer
and gathers her food in harvest. ~ Proverbs 6:6-8
It was fun to see the reader’s favourites and your favourites for January!
