How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

On this first Friday of January, it is time for me to share how I really dressed for my day this week. I didn’t take photos a few days because I was just in the athleisurewear I’ve shown over and over here. But the outfits I did put together turned out pretty well, so I’m excited to share these with you.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask.

All available items are linked in the captions of the photos. Even if they don’t look like links (sometimes they don’t highlight for some reason), they generally are. So just click through if you’re interested.

What I Wore to Church Sunday

Sunday I chose to wear a pair of lined wool blend trousers from my closet. These are from last year. They have a thin bold pink stripe in them, so I picked that up with my pink ribbed turtleneck sweater. I loved how this came together because I just think this color of pink looks so nice with navy, and it’s a combination I forget to wear nearly enough.

I accessorized my look with cognac Ally heels and Brighton Astrid organizer. I’m riding this matching accessories trend as long as it lasts. It’s such an easy way to add polish to an outfit.

How I Dressed Tuesday

Since Monday was officially a holiday, I gave myself a free day and didn’t really get dressed in anything beyond my workout clothes. So Tuesday I kicked it into gear with trending full length wide leg jeans. They’re premium denim jeans, so they’re pricey. But they are still available. The fit is spot on and I like the medium wash on these for a fairly casual look. I’m wearing a size 30 for reference.

My soft brown sweater is old from last year (similar option), but my boots are still available. This low contrast in intensity outfit works really nicely for my features. I completed the outfit with my Brighton jewelry.

Tuesday was our 36th wedding anniversary. I decided to really dress up for our dinner out at a favorite nice restaurant.

So I wore my black feather trimmed cardigan and red pleated skirt. I considered wearing my red velvet bedazzled pumps, but decided to tone my outfit down a bit with my black Ally heels. I didn’t get a photo, but I just added my black wrap coat when we went out.

By the way, you may notice me wearing a small lapel mic in some of these photos. That’s because I’m also talking through all of my outfits of the day on Instagram now. So follow me on Instagram to hear more about my daily outfits and how and why I put them together. My thoughts are just a little fresher since I’m actually in the outfit rather than trying to write about it later.

What I Wore Wednesday

Wednesday I worked from home but I did get out for an errand. So I topped a pair of old favorite grey jeans (from Fidelity) with a soft lavender turtleneck. I like the neck worn up on this turtleneck for a more modern vibe.

I considered wearing booties, but opted for my white Paul Green sneakers instead. They have a platform, so I can wear them with most of my longer jeans. When I stepped out for a bit, I wore my ivory quilted jacket (similar The North Face insulated jacket) and carried my ivory Aimee Kestenberg satchel.

How I Dressed Thursday

I got in an order from Ann Taylor this week and decided to try it out Thursday. I wasn’t going anywhere, so I didn’t mind the thought of wearing ankle length jeans for the day. These jeans and pullover sweater with faux poplin shirt tail and collar are part of Ann Taylor’s new arrivals, and the top is 30% off.

The pullover sweater actually has a faux shirt tail in the front and back, but I tucked it in in the front to achieve better proportions with these ankle length jeans. I wore the outfit with my cognac Ally heels. I love that color of leather with the camel sweater. The sweater is very comfortable and soft, by the way. It fits true to size. I’m wearing a medium in the top and a size 10 in the curvy fit jeans. The jeans do not have a lot of stretch, but they do have just a little.

So that’s a wrap! I’ll definitely try to be on the ball and have outfit photos for every day next week. Have a great weekend!

Blessed for My Day

Do you ever feel a little dissatisfied? Unfulfilled? Or maybe a little lost? Sometimes I lack motivation to press on because I feel like I’m lacking something. That can cause me a little trouble because I generally end up looking for satisfaction in all the wrong places. I try to meet my longings with eating snacks, indulging in too many television shows, leaning in too hard on relationships or just sleeping too much. Maybe you’ve run to other things to satisfy your aches.

But I’ve discovered that if I seek the Lord and an intimacy with Him, I experience those feelings of dissatisfaction far less frequently. In fact, as I’ve grown closer to God through daily Bible reading, Scripture meditation and prayer over the years, those feelings of dissatisfaction have become few and far between. The Bible says that hungering and thirsting for righteousness will lead to satisfaction. “Righteousness” is best defined as being in “right standing with God.” So if I make my relationship with God my priority, I truly am a more satisfied woman.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.” ~ Matthew 5:6

  1. I’m sorry to say that I am not excited to see the sweaters with attached white collar and tails making a comeback. I’ve tried them in the past. I can only get one wearing from a white shirt (especially the collar) so washing a sweater that often is not good. I’ve had some with detachable collars which proved to be a hassle.

BFMD is the way to go !

  2. You often comment that a particular shoe you are wearing is a few seasons old, yet they look brand new. Please tell me how you keep your shoes looking so fresh. Products, storage, routine, etc.

  3. I look forward to the Friday posts about how you really dressed for the week (I hope you keep doing that!) and this week’s, your personal favorite outfits for 2023. I think you look amazing in all your casual jeans outfits, so I guess that says something about my lifestyle! However, you have inspired me to have a few sparkly items in my closet for special occasions. On Christmas Eve my adult daughters and I dressed up, and it was quite fun! !Anyway Kay, I really do appreciate all your hard work, congratulations on becoming a grandma ❤️, and wishing you a happy and prosperous new year!
