Jesus didn’t come to cancel out the Law, but He fulfilled it. He lived a perfect and sinless life. And His life was a living testament to the holiness of God. So while we are saved by grace through our faith in Christ, God still calls us to live according to His standards set out in the 10 Commandments.
Yesterday in church I taught the children’s class and our lesson was on these ancient but living laws. As one of my young students astutely pointed out before I had the opportunity to teach them anything, the first four laws have to do with our relationship with God, while the final six relate to our relationships with other people. When we live a holy and set apart life, one that upholds these 10 Commandments, we demonstrate to the world around us that God has set us free from our bondage to sin and death. And we show, through obedience to these rules, that we love God and love others.
