The end of the week has arrived and I’ve gather my outfit photos to share with you what I really wore. Many of my readers seem to enjoy this little roundup, but I really do it to keep me accountable to my own advice of consistently getting dressed for your day. Let’s see what I wore this first week of summer 2023.

How This Works

These are my real life outfits from my own closet. Many of these things are available, but some may not be. When I can locate one quickly I’ll share substitutes and/or more economical options. But if I don’t provide one and you’d like for me to, just ask.

I try to focus on how I styled things and why I wore what I wore rather than product details here. But if you need to know more about a piece, just ask in the comments. Let’s run through this week’s spring outfits.

What I Wore On Friday

Last Thursday I had shared this little pink linen top in my Instagram Live Coffee with Kay. I’d said I wasn’t sure I would keep it because it has an elasticized waistband. But I tried it on, and I love it! I wore it with my black linen pants.

It turns out the elasticized waistband is actually a good thing. It creates that front tuck look without having to do a front tuck. So easy! So if you’re looking for tops that help you create good proportions, this is a nice option…or other tops like it, too. See what I mean by an elasticized waistband below, right.

The top is also available in white.

What I Wore On Saturday

Saturday I had to work some on this Wednesday’s video to have it turned in for my sponsor. But I also needed to shoot outfit photos that evening, and I desperately needed a pedicure first. So I wore my flax colored linen skirt and a simple white tank with sandals.

White Tank // Linen Skirt // Tory Burch Sandals // Purse // Coin Necklace // Chain Necklace // Earrings

I thought that outfit looked great. And that is how I ended up wearing it. But I also wanted you to see how I styled the outfit with a short sleeve white linen shirt below. I was going to wear it that way until I stepped outside and decided it was a little warm. But I do love this layered look.

White Tank // Linen Skirt // button up shirt and here (more economical Button Up Shirt ) // Tory Burch Sandals // Purse // Coin Necklace // Chain Necklace // Earrings

You could wear the shirt open or tucked loosely in a crisscross style. By the way, I’m loving those large hoop earrings above. They’re lightweight and so on trend.

What I Wore On Sunday

Sunday we hosted church at our home. So James and I prepared breakfast for our small congregation and we had a lovely morning. I wore my new J.Jill v-neck A-line dress. I’ve been scouting for simple, lightweight dresses to take to London in August that I could easily layer with a jacket. This one is a contender. Or will it be too cool in August? Let me know if you know!

V-Neck Dress // Sandals // Earrings // Coin Necklace // Chain Necklace // Bracelet

Anyhow this dress is a good one. The fabric has a lovely hand and drapes beautifully. It’s also available in solid black, but I thought this stripe would be nice for a change. My black sandals are Cole Haan from Kohl’s, and they are SO comfortable. They come in a beautiful pecan, too. They’re soft on the foot and have a nice padding. They fit true to size.

What I Wore On Monday

Monday I just worked from home, but I thought it was a good day to wear a little color. You know me and my neutrals! (See above and below. Ha!) So I wore another new dress from J.Jill, this cyan blue cotton gauze tiered dress. I love how this dress has a drop waistline and a flattering shape. It’s so comfortable, too. I’m wearing a small, as I generally do at J.Jill.

Cotton-Gauze Tiered Dress // Miller Sandals // Bracelet // Earrings // Necklace

I accessorized that day with my Miller leather sandals in “makeup” and my gold Julie Voss jewelry.

What I Wore On Tuesday

Tuesday I was back in my neutrals. I had picked up this sweater tank in light tan and decided I needed to style it with something. It had been sitting in my closet for a while. So paired it with white jeans I purchased last year on sale and my white linen jacket. I was surprised how much I loved this outfit.

Tan Sweater Tank // White Linen Jacket // Veronica Beard White Pants // Purse // Earrings // Sandals // Bracelet

I think it’s the addition of those tan Sandals and even the rattan and white bag that really brings this look together. Just goes to show how important accessories are to an outfit.

What I Wore On Wednesday

I guess I was in a white and beige groove because the next day I created a similar outfit…without even meaning to. This time I wore my white relaxed linen crops with a beige cotton knit tank. I completed the outfit with my white linen button up shirt.

White Linen Button Up – no longer available in white (Similar) // Tank // White Linen Pants // Sandals // Necklace // Purse // Bracelet // Earrings

By the way, I need to make a correction on those relaxed linen crops. I did indeed size down to a small in these. But the website suggests that they run small and you should size up. That wasn’t my experience with these white relaxed linen crops. However, I ordered the same pants in the black in size small and had to return those because they were a little snug. so the sizing may just be a little all over the place.

And I want to point out those fun and oh so comfy sandals I’m wearing. They are so soft on the foot and very cushiony to walk on. These are in the color cashew, but they also come in black. I think they would look so chic with jeans, too. I’d say they run true to size, but a little wide. so if you have a narrow foot you may want to pass on these.

Thursday’s Outfit

And yesterday I hosted an Instagram Live about travel outfits. So I wore my ankle length travel pants and a soft knit polo top with my new Naot sandals as one example. (Check out the video of the Live for the other three!) Anyhow, I just ended up keeping this outfit on all day.

Travel Pants // Polo // Sandals // Necklace // Bracelet // Earrings

My Naot sandals are also a possibility for London. They are amazingly soft on the foot, feature an arch supporting insole, completely adjustable with Velcro straps and are waterproof. Have you ever worn Naots? They’re new to me, but I’m loving this brand.

Well, that’s a wrap! Thanks so much for stopping in.

Blessed for My Day

As things go in this world these days, I find myself needing a little reassurance every so often. In fact, more and more often. I remember my children used to frequently ask me, “Is it going to be okay?” To which I would respond, “I don’t know if it’s going to be okay, but I know you’re going to be okay.”

The only reason I was able to say that with certainty was because I know Who holds the future. We can trust that God will watch over us all the days of our lives. And He doesn’t watch over us from a distance, as that popular song said. No, He hold us in His hand and tends to us with compassion and commitment. We have a good God who can be trusted to provide and protect…and to carry us safely Home. No matter what may come today, let’s choose to trust Him and rejoice in His promises.

The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. ~ Psalm 121:7-8

xoxo, Kay

  1. I love that Pink top with the elastic hem.How would you say it’s sized? What did you order? Thank you so much for all you do.
    Cindy

  2. Glad you and James had a nice vacation and got some much needed rest. I really liked the blue dress on you that you wore on Monday. You looked so pretty. Love blue on you.

  3. You look so beautiful in these outfits, Kay! You especially rock the white/beige color palette that I can’t wear without looking washed out. So glad you explained that low contrast/med contrast/high contrast concept! And I’m thrilled you have discovered the NAOT brand of sandals/shoes. They have been my go-to footwear for years, as they are the only “comfort shoe” that doesn’t make my feet hurt after wearing them more than one hour (and I’ve tried many brands). I must have 5 pairs of NAOT sandals, and just ordered the ones you are wearing in this blog post. I wore my NAOT Mary Janes for a trip to Egypt in February which was arduous, and I’m 78 years old (people tell me I don’t look it). Love your blog!

  4. I got hooked on Naot sandals back in the 1980s (think Birkenstock slip-on style). That first pair wore like iron for about 15 years! I bought two more “streamlined” pairs with behind-the-heel velcro straps prior to a Mediterranean cruise in 2010 which lasted me about eight years with steady summer wear: a dark brown pair and a black pair with a blingy strap. I was also able to wear the blingy strap to dressy onboard dinners. I pack light and these two sandals and a pair of closed toe tennis shoes were all I needed to travel. I think I have four pair of Naot sandals in my closet right now. They don’t seem to go out of style. They conform well to my feet with adjustable velcro straps. The footbed is awesome and the sole is durable. Naots are made in Israel and I’ve decided people in that climate know a few things about sandals. I also bought a pair of Naot closed toe dressier heels. Good stuff!

  5. I’ve worn Naot shoes for many years. They are so comfortable yet stylish, especially if you have foot issues like I do. They’re pricey but worth it. I find I really can’t wear cheap shoes anymore! So that’s one area where I make an investment.

  6. Hi Kay, I purchased the black and white stripped dress from J.Jill in the store just yesterday! I was so pleasantly surprised to see you wearing the dress in today’s post! It looks great on you! I also bought an open front cardigan. The staff helped me with choosing the right size for me. I usually wear large or even X-large in most stores, but they said the medium in both items was the correct size for me. I was very hesitant to size down, but when I read in your post today that you usually size down at J.Jill, I was relieved to know that it is not unusual to need to size down there. Otherwise, I would have been second guessing if I should have gone with the large in both items. I really appreciate your feedback about details like this! It helps make me a more confident shopper. 🙂

  7. Hi Kay! I can highly recommend the Naot Dorith sandals. Very comfortable for walking around. I have foot issues (previously plantar fasciitis) and have had no issues with them. Great arch support.

  8. Hi Kay,
I’ve worn NAOT sandals for years. Being a teacher on her feet for many years, this brand kept me comfortable. I wore the Dorith sandal to walk the streets of Italy 9 years ago. I’m also a JJill fan.
    Enjoy your weekend.

  9. Hey Kay. Great post! I love Naot sandals. The “Jessica” sandal is one of my favorites. Super comfortable with great arch support!

  10. I’ve worn Naot sandals for years. My favorite is the Naot Dorith, which I have in 3 colors. They go with everything and last for years. I also have a pair of Naot Mary Jane shoes that are great.

  11. Congratulations Kay on you becoming a grandmother. I have 3 and they are such a blessing to me. I cherish the time I spend with them because they are growing up too fast. My 12 year old granddaughter is my shopping buddy. She’s also volunteering with me at a church thrift shop. I wish you and your family the best.

I love all the neutrals like white and beige.

  12. August in London is usually warm and sunny so that navy striped dress will be perfect. Good comfortable sandals are obviously essential!

  13. I love Naots. I have feet that need arch support badly and this brand has been my go-to for many years. I’m glad you discovered them.
