Scripture Meditation & Memory at DFMD 2023

Guess what? As we meditate on and attempt to memorize this next scripture passage, we’ll be crossing the half-way threshold for our challenge. You’re doing great! And even if you’re not participating perfectly – because honestly, I haven’t either – you’re still making beautiful progress. God’s Word will not return void; it will accomplish His purposes in your life. This is good news.

So let’s keep going! Don’t stop. And if you feel like you’ve been muddling through this scripture meditation and memory challenge, that’s quite okay. New things take time and practice and patience. Don’t let Satan have the victory by causing you to quit. Persevere. This is going to make a huge difference in your life in the long run. I guarantee it!

My Next Scripture

In my daily reading through the Bible I came across a familiar but power story about Elisha this week. I am always inspired as I read 2 King 6:8-23, the story of how Elisha prayed that his servant’s spiritual eyes could be opened so that he could see that greater were the forces of God than the enemy fast approaching.

And reading this passage again reminded me that I need to remember daily that this is a spiritual battle we are in. That makes all the difference in how we fight it. Instead of running in fear or lashing out at people or picking up stick and stones to throw back or shaking in our boots, we need to get on our knees and seek God’s perspective.

We can trust that God is equipping us for life’s battles just as He sent in angelic troops to fight Elisha’s enemies. And we can know that He has said He will fight our battles, and the only weapons He has given us to pick up are listed in Ephesians 6:10-17. Those are spiritual weapons based in a knowledge of and trust in God’s character and His Word.

Even if you are adding different scriptures to your album today, I encourage you to read over this powerful account and gain encouragement from it. It’s also a good story to share with others who need to be reminded that God does not leave us without resource to face our giants.

Then be sure to take some time each day – several times a day if possible – to read through each of your verses, but making a little extra time for this week’s selection. And may you be blessed as you pursue this significant spiritual discipline.

Spread the love

“Hear, children, fatherly instruction; pay attention to gain understanding. I’ll teach you well. Don’t abandon my instruction.”

    In honor of Father’s Day

  2. I’m going to join you on these verses from 2 Kings 6. Verse 16 alone is powerful but I love that Elisha prayed for the eyes of the servant to be open. And he saw! Amen. Thank you.

  3. Romans 4:20-21
“Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised.”

    1. Sherry from Minnesota, as I think about the Lord today and so many people are not following Jesus, I am reminded of the scripture Joshua 24: 15b
But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

  4. Hi all .. hope everyone had a good couple of weeks, but for those who are struggling with life’s challenges, please know you will be in my prayers. My scripture selection this week is:

  5. Hi Kay I love the Scripture you have chosen today and I hope you don’t mind but I would like to use that one too ? It fits in with some things I an going through at this time and it will help me to focus as I need to . Thank you ❤️And a big HELLO 👋also to ALL of Kays Ladies Xx

  6. Psalm 100:3
Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

  7. Thank you, Kay. A wonderful story to encourage us to have faith in God’s power and might over what seems insurmountable to us. I was going to choose Ps 18:30, ” As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him..” But I am inclined to memorize your choice, as this verse is really already marked and loved in my bible!

  8. Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.

For a time such as this in my life.

  9. Psalm 91: 1-2

Those who live in the shelter of the most high( El Elyon) will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty ( El Shaddai). This I declare about the Lord. He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him.

  10. 1 Peter 1:14-16.
14 As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, 15 but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16 since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

  11. Hi my name is Beth and I chose Psalm 34:17-18 My husband has Parkinson’s disease and was diagnosed 14 years ago. Most recently, he has developed new symptoms of dementia. It has been a challenging time for both of us.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

      1. Thank you so much, Kym! I really appreciate your prayers and kindness. May God bless you for your faithfulness. Hope you have a wonderful day, Beth

  12. Good morning sweet ladies,

Here’s my verse from Psalm 73:26
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

Also, I’ve discovered a trick that has helped me review all my verses. When I begin my exercises every day, I start with stretches. For example, stretching one leg I say the verse (out loud). Then when I do the other leg, I say the scripture reference and what it means to me (out loud). I’m finding I’m reconnecting to each verse in a deep way. And I’m pretty limber when I’m done! Hope this helps someone!

  13. Morning Kay and All! My scripture today is predictable, one we all already know but comes from my heart on this Father’s Day . . Matthew 6:9 . . . The Our Father!!! Have a blessed day everyone!!

  14. It has been a rough week for me. Therefore,
    Isaiah 54:10 NAB
“Though the mountains leave their place
    And the hills be shaken,
My love shall never leave you
Nor my covenant of peace be shaken,
Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

  15. My verse is
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.””
    ‭‭Joshua‬ ‭1‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  16. Fear Not, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand and humbled yourself before your God, your words have been heard, and I have come because of your words. Daniel 10:12 ESV

Even though I can’t see God working, I know He has heard our prayers and is working in His time.

  17. Good morning!
    My verse is:
    I John 3:18
Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
    ESV

    1. Whoopsie! That’s the one I’ve been working on!
      The new one actually is:
      John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, just as I have loved you, you are to love another.
      ESV
God and I are working on my heart and loving others well – this is a great verse!
Now to finish my tea and waking up!!
Happy Farher’s Day to all the “ support staff”💗

  18. Proverbs 14:4…………As I clean up our home after our son and daughter-in-love and two young granddaughters just left, there is so much to do! And it reminds me of one of my favorite verses from my own kids growing-up years, when I yearned for a neat tidy place……”Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean; But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox.” Those oxen are sooooo valuable, so I’m loving my NOT clean manger!!!

  19. So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:31-33

On Father’s Day today I am reminded of how my Heavenly Father is taking care of me. What an awesome Father we have!

  20. Proverbs 14:4–Where are no oxen, the manger is clean, But much revenue comes by the strength of the ox. Loving cleaning up my NOT clean manger after a week=long visit from my grands!

  21. Still working on Ephesians passage after weeks of a break.
Thank you for encouraging us to continue!

  22. “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him…”. 2 Chronicles 16:9a

  23. Hello everyone,

Last time I said I would choose for this next fortnight the verse which Linda from Georgia had mentioned, so here it is.

Set a guard over my mouth, LORD; keep watch over the door of my lips.
    Ps 141:3 NIV

I appreciated Kay’s encouragement to continue even if it wasn’t all going perfectly. I had been telling myself off for not remembering the later verses as well as those I’d started with!

  24. My scripture for today comes from Kay’s Blessed For My Day, on Monday, June 12/23.

    Proverbs 16:2-3
All the ways of a person are clean in his own sight, but the Lord examines the motives.
Commit your works to the Lord, and your plans will be established.

Kay, I can relate to the scripture you have chosen. It seems that those with the loudest voices on social media find satisfaction in denigrating the Christian religion. It is something I thought would never happen in my lifetime.

  25. John 14:27 (NKJV)

    “Peace I leave with you
    My peace I give to you;
Not as the world gives do I give to you.
Let not your heart be troubled,
Neither let it be afraid. “

    1. A comforting verse! I just read about someone in hospice who is dying from the disease I have! I haven’t metastasized yet though. I have many people praying for me. I needed this verse! Thanks!

      1. Karin, Praying for a miracle because Nothing is impossible with God.
Love in Christ Jesus my sweet sister!

  26. Hi Kay,
So happy to hear that you are back from a good holiday. My memory verse is-
    “Matthew 11 verse 28-30
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I have turned so many time to this verse and clung to Jesus in times of need.
May you find peace this summer.
    Gillianxx

  27. I had in my mind a different Scripture for week 12 but after reading about your selection, Kay, my verses this time are from Ephesians 6:10-18. A number of years ago I did a study on this passage and had memorized. It’s time to renew it in my memory.
    Ephesians 6:10-18 (NIV)
” Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all of this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

    1. So, I’m over 70 and had some technical issues when I was posting my verse above, so it only posted part of it which might seem like a head scratcher 😂 I was reminded of this verse as I clean up our home today after the departure of our son and his young family, and it is waaaaaay different than my usual cleaning and tidying for just my husband and myself! I love this verse because yes, my home is much cleaner when there are no other little bodies, but as the rest of the verse says……those oxen are strong and valuable!

  28. I honestly couldn’t believe it’d already been 2 weeks!!

My new verse is from Micah 7:7
“As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me, and
my God will certainly hear me.”

  29. “As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” Galatians 6:10 KJV

  30. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Romans 5:2

  31. I will be using your verse, as I have felt some spiritual battle in my life recently. This verse resonates with me right now, and is a good reminder that God is the Creator and has control over what is happening in the world.

  32. Hi Kay,
I have read that story of Elisha this past year in my study of the kings, prophets, and the divided kingdom of Israel and Judah. It is very inspiring. What a wonderful reminder!
My scripture is one that helps me remember how, when looking in the mirror and seeing aging signs, I should instead turn my eyes to the Lord who gives me beauty for ashes and the oil of joy for mourning…for His glory. I sang this early in my Christian years and it still comes to my mind at times of discouragement:
To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. Isaiah 61: 3 (KJV)

  33. Wow, Kay, what a great passage to remind us that God is fighting our battles and we are not alone! I’m going to spend another 2 weeks on the passages I chose for week 11, Psalm 138:8 and Philippians 1:6.

The Lord will put fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, oh Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands. Psalm 138:8

And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6.

  34. In keeping with my word for the year, victorious, my verse is 1 John 5:5
Who is the one who is victorious and overcomes the world? It is the one who believes and recognizes the fact that Jesus is the Son of God. [AMP]
    Previous verses
    11) 1 John 5:4 For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. [AMP]
    10) I Corinthians 15:57 But now in a single victorious stroke of Life, all three – sin, guilt, death – are gone, the gift of our Master, Jesus Christ. Thank God! [MSG]
    9) 1 John 5:4 For everyone born of God is victorious and overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has conquered and overcome the world—our [continuing, persistent] faith [in Jesus the Son of God]. [AMP]
    8) Hebrews 4:15 For Jesus is not some high priest who has no sympathy for our weaknesses and flaws. He has already been tested in every way that we are tested; but He emerged victorious, without failing God. [Voice]
    7) Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” [NIV]
5&6) I Cor 9:24 You know that in a race all the runners run but only one wins the prize, don’t you? You must run in such a way that you may be victorious.
I Cor 9: 25 Everyone who enters an athletic contest practices self-control in everything. They do it to win a wreath that that withers away, but we run to win a prize that never fades. [ISV]
    4) Romans 8:37 But in all these things we are completely victorious through God who showed his love for us. [ISV]
    3) Zephaniah 3:17 The Lord your God is in your midst, a victorious warrior. He will rejoice over you with joy, He will be quiet in His love, He will rejoice over you with shouts of joy. [NASB]
    2) Isaiah 41:10 Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, I will help you; I will uphold you with My victorious right hand. [TLB]
    1) Psalm 89: 15-17 How blessed are the people who worship you! O LORD, they experience your favor. They rejoice in your name all day long, and are vindicated by your justice. For you give them splendor and strength. By your favor we are victorious. (NET)

  35. Romans 5:1-5
Therefore since we have been justified through faith we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ through whom we have been given access into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so we also glory in our sufferings because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

  36. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

  37. Hello everyone,
I too would like to use Kay’s verse. I especially like the idea of God opening others eyes. I pray this week that God opens my sons eyes before it is too late and his father is no longer here.

  38. Malachi 4:5 from the NIV:
“He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”
This is my prayer for all families around the world who are in need of reconciliation because it is our heavenly Father’s will.

  39. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
    ‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

    He’s a good, good Father!

  40. Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety in him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:6-7

  41. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began. 2 Timothy 1:8-9

  42. Revelation 4:3 NKJV “And He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne in appearance like an emerald.”

I am definitely going to add your verse to my notebook as a bonus verse, to meditate on. I need this constant reminder.

  43. In honor of Fathers Day,a verse from the story of the prodigal son. How much our Heavenly Father loves us!
Luke 15:20. So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him.

  44. The steadfast of mind Thou will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in Thee. Isaiah 26:3 NASB

  45. Psalm 139: 23-24

Search me oh god and know my heart test me a no, my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you and leave me alone the path of everlasting life

  46. My verse for this week is:

If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.

    James 4:17 NIV

  47. Titus 2:11-15
11 For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation[b] for all people, 12 instructing us to deny godlessness and worldly lusts and to live in a sensible, righteous, and godly way in the present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. 14 He gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people for his own possession, eager to do good works.

15 Proclaim these things; encourage and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard[c] you.

  48. Proverbs 10:20b and 21a. “…the minds of those who are out of harmony with God are of little value. The lips of the righteous feed and guide many…”

  49. Kay, I’m focusing upon one of the verses you shared in a blog post this week. Thank you for reminding me of what I needed to hear again and thank you for this community of believers. What a blessing.

“Do not speak to be heard by a fool,
For he will despise the wisdom of your words.” ~ Proverbs 23:9

  50. Neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depths, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God. Romans 8:38-39

  51. “Call unto me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and wonderful things, which thou knowest not.”

God answers prayers in amazing ways.

  52. The verse I chose this week is James 5:7-9, Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it , until it gets the early and late rains. You too be patient; strengthen your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is near. Do not complain, brethren, against one another, so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door. (NASB)

  53. Good evening, Kay, and all the women in this wonderful group,
This is my scripture verse for the next two weeks:

“The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in His love He will no longer rebuke you,
but will rejoice over you with singing.”
    —ZEPHANIAH 3:17 (NIV)

  54. Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
    Psalm 91

  55. Matthew 19:26 – “Jesus looked at them intently and said with man humanly speaking it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

I need to be reminded with different family challenges that stepping out in faith trusting Him is always the right response – nothing with God is impossible.

  56. Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

  57. 22 Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. 23 But you, God, will bring down the wicked into the pit of decay; the bloodthirsty and deceitful will not live out half their days. But as for me, I trust in you. Psalm 55:22-23 NIV

  58. I’m going to use your verse this time Kay… very encouraging. Thank you! So many things in my life are changing right now, I would appreciate prayers!

  59. I’m also going to work on your verse, Kay. Thank you for the encouragement to continue! I was AWOL last time but am glad to pick this up again!

  60. Philippians 2:3-4 (ESV): Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.

  61. “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭121‬:‭1‬-‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

  62. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

  63. I have chosen Galatians 6:9 today. It says, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
This is the verse God has been showing me that I want/need to hide in my heart. Persevere and do not give up even when things look like they are not going your way. Seek God and continue to do good. Today our pastor announced his resignation. We will continue to do good. God is good all the time. ♥️

  64. Isaiah43:2-3a (NIV)
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you, and when you pass through the rivers they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire , you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.

  65. John 8:12 NIV
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life “

  66. My selection for this week is:
    Ephesians 6:1-3
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother.” Which is the first commandment with promise: “that it may be well with you, and you may live on the Earth.”

  67. As I seek the Lord for ways to come alongside of people and help them, I sometimes have to remind myself why I am doing these things, I will memorize 2 Thessalonians 3:13.
“As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.”

  68. Joshua 1:9 “This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

  69. My story is the same as yours Beth. We are following in the same path only a few years behind you. Praying for you as well.

  70. Hebrews 1:3 NIV The son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

  71. Janes 1:25
But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

  72. Good morning ladies,

I’m posting on Monday because of yesterday was full with church services and celebrating Father’s Day with family. A wonderful blessing! And it’s a wonderful blessing to be part of this group! Thank you Kay and all the ladies participating, it’s so encouraging!

    I John 4:6
Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask because we obey his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command to believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and to love one another as he commanded us.

  73. Hello! I came across these verses in my daily devotions and it really spoke to me, so I thought I would share it with all of you too:
“ To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” Judevv.24-25

  74. Life has been busy in my household for the past 2 months – first grandbaby, vacations, houseguests, and just the everyday activities. I am finding myself rushing through my time in the Word and not taking care of myself. The following verse jumped out at me today:

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

    Matthew 6:34 NKJV

  75. James 1:11

For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also the rich man fade away in his ways.

  76. He has saved us and called us to a holy life–not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time.

    2Timothy 1:9, NIV

  77. My verse is because of what my adult stepson shared with us on Father’s Day. He told us that he now once again believes in God ( after many years of unbelief). My prayers will continue for him so that he knows the one true God.
“Therefore know this day, and consider it in your heart, that the Lord Himself is God in Heaven above and on the earth beneath; there is no other.” Deuteronomy 4:39

  78. Do you not know? have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youth grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.
    Isaiah 40:28-31 (NIV)

  79. Deuteronomy 439 NIV
Acknowledge and take heart this day that the Lord is God in heaven above and on earth below. There is no other.

  80. Noticing a significant change in my attitude and awareness of my nature through this process. This time I am selecting Ephesians 6:5&7
Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men,

    Ephesians 6:5,7

  81. This is to remind me of purpose:

“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?”
    Romans 10:14
    .

  82. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
    Philippians 4:6-7
Thank you Kay! I’m really enjoying this scripture exercise. I haven’t been diligent but am getting so much out of this. I have never done anything like this before.

  83. Psalms 16:8 (NLT – New Living Translation)

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken for he is right beside me.

    This called out to me!

  84. “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
    ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭LSB‬‬

  85. To remind me why I need to do this challenge: I have stored up your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Ps 119:11

  86. Isaiah 41:13 ESV
“For I, the LORD your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, ‘Fear not, I am the one who helps you ‘”

  87. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. John 1:1-4 (NIV)

  88. “The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.”
    ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭34‬:‭18‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

  89. This week I chose:

“The Lord is not in keeping his promis, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9 NIV

  90. Half way through the year and still learning! Thank you for the challenge. This has been good for me.
My verse this month is Isaiah 40:8
The grass dies and the flowers fade but the word of God will live forever.

  91. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these thing will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 ESV

  92. Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
For I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

  93. For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
(as a followup to the verse last time – John 8:31b-32)

  94. For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. For the Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. Psalm33: 4&5

  95. When I see these posts, I start being more aware of which readings in my daily studies strike a cord in my heart. My verse this time reflects my anxieties about work, and worrying about less important things than God’s plans. “ Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139:23-24

  96. Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
    Psalm 42:11 NASB

  97. I’m a little late to the table but wanted to say I’m still memorizing. I can get a little lax about it, but then God reminds me (through my circumstances) that I NEED His Word. Oh how many middle-of-the-nights His Word has been my stay! In fact, thinking about not having it makes me teary actually. He IS my only rock and fortress in these rough seas called life!

I thought maybe Psalm 40 ( which I started memorizing over a year ago) was only for a season-God knew I was going to need to share a tender part of my testimony that I had not shared before-and that happened (thank you Lord for preparing me and giving me courage through Your Word). Ah, but the second half of Psalm 40 is for me as well – I need delivering from the attacks of the evil one, who seeks my hurt. And so I continue-and by the end of the year hopefully I’ll have the whole Psalm memorized.
    Psalm 40:12-13
“For evils have encompassed me without number; my iniquities have overtaken me till I cannot see; they are more than the hairs of my head; my heart fails me. Be pleased O Lord to deliver me! O Lord make haste to help me!” RSV

    1. I have lived in Psalm 40 a good bit of the last 20 years. I can affirm that it’s a great Psalm to memorize – and meditate on! The evil one does not like women who are STANDING on the only Rock, but stand we will do because of Jesus. Hugs to you, my Psalm 40 sister.

  98. I’m sorry to be late to respond to this two week’s Scripture challenge, but I’m encouraged by the fact that I just read this very same passage as Kay this week! It is one of my favorites as well and I likewise choose it for meditation this week.

  99. Learning another verse in Psalm 31…

Bow down Your ear to me,
    Deliver me speedily;
    Be my rock of refuge,
A fortress of defense to save me.
    –Psalm 31:2

  100. 2 Chronicles 7: 14

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

  101. The Sovereign LORD has given me a well-instructed tongue, to know the word that sustains the weary. He wakens me morning by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being instructed.

This verse reminds me to soak in God’s word each morning and look for opportunities to encourage others with His word throughout the day.

  102. The focus is on family this week

    Gen 2.23 american bible
Through marriage, he brings men and women together to create brand new famiies

We can all be a part of his eternal family.

Congrats on your growing family! What great news! So exciting!

  103. Deuteronomy 31:8
The Lord is the one who goes ahead of you; He will be with you. He will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

  104. Collassians 3:13

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you have a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

  105. I realize that though I have been using my verse, I never wrote it here! Going away last week through me off!
For our struggle is not with flesh and blood but with principalities,
with powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with
the evil spirits in the heavens, Ephesians 6:12

  106. Kay, your chosen scripture is beautiful and timely. I must say it was new to me, so I thank you so much for sharing it.

    Philippians 1:27-28
Conduct yourselves, then, in a way worthy of the gospel of Christ. If you do, whether I come and see for myself or hear about your behavior from a distance, it will be clear that you are standing firm in unity of spirit and exerting yourselves with one accord for the faith of the gospel. Do not be intimidated by your opponents in any situation. Their opposition foreshadows downfall for them, but salvation for you. All this is as God intends.

  107. 1 John 2:6
Whoever says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same way in which He walked.

(Sorry to be so tardy!! I’ve had this one in my book but kept forgetting to post it here!!)

  108. So the LORD must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the LORD is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. Isaiah 30:18 NLT

  109. Matthew 11:28
Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest!

I have been on the girl for the last two months and really need spiritual and physical rest.

  110. Kate’s comments on Ps 40 inspired me to check out that Psalm. While I may not memorize it alI, I am going to start at the beginning this week.

    I waited patiently on the Lord;
    and He inclined unto me,
    and heard my cry

    Ps. 40:1 KJV

  111. Romans 8:31 – What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
    Love Monika
