Is it getting harder? Not necessarily to memorize or meditate on God’s Word, but to stay consistent and invested? Keep in mind that the enemy of your soul does not want you to focus on the Truth; he’s the father of lies, the deceiver and the evil one. Let’s press on so that we can reap the harvest we have begun to plant in the fertile ground of our hearts and minds.
This past week we were once again reminded that we are living in a hurting and broken world. I’m sure that, like me, you have experienced a full range of emotions from grief to rage to fear to frustration. Worst of all, I’ve had moments when I’ve felt defeated, like all is lost and there is no hope for this world.
Maybe you, like me, wonder how in the world our kids will be able to raise their children in this tormented world. May you look around and see desperation and hate and vitriol and immorality winning the day, and you long for simpler times…or so they seemed.
That’s why I’ve chosen Nehemiah 4:14 for my next memory verse. I want to remind myself daily that all is not lost, God is still in control, He still has a purpose for the Church to be here (or we wouldn’t be here) and that I need to be a spreader of hope and courage, not despair and grief.
I want to be a woman who continues to fight for her family, including those to come, and who gives others around me courage and hope to press on, too.
When we engage in conversations this month with other adults or young people who are feeling fearful about the future, let’s step up to the plate with words of truth, hope, grace and courage. Let’s have Nehemiah 4:14 in our hearts and minds so that we can speak these inspiring words with conviction.
I look forward to reading your selection for the next two weeks, as well. Please know that I read every comment. Thank you for sharing this journey with me.
PS – I wanted to share with you that my husband James has begun a podcast called Discover the Bible. James is an excellent verse-by-verse expositor of the Bible, and he is currently preaching through the book of Judges. You can check it out HERE or wherever you listen to podcasts.
