Happy first week of Summer! I’m thrilled that the season has officially begun, and I’m enjoying wearing my summer wardrobe. And speaking of summer clothes, I stopped in at Talbots recently to check out their new July 2026 collection. I tried on several of their newest items as well as a few other summer selections so I could give you sizing information and share my thoughts. Let’s see what I tried on.

The Low-Down on Try-On Sessions
Please keep in mind that these are photos taken on my phone in poor lighting. Also, I’ve been pulling clothes off and on in a tight space. So my hair is a mess, my makeup is melting and I look pretty kerplunked. Ha! So please just focus on the clothes and give a little grace to the lady with the phone in her hand trying to look decent in fitting room lighting. For reference, I’m 5’8″ and weigh about 160 pounds. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape. I usually wear a size misses 10 or 30 in jeans or mediums. I’m showing all garments in those sizes unless otherwise noted.
Throughout the try-on session of the Talbots July 2026 collection I’m wearing my Tory Burch sandals, along with this T-bar necklace (c/o), this pearl station necklace (more economical option) and these earrings (c/o). Talbots July 2026 Collection Try-On Session
First up I tried a pair of their washed linen wide crop patch pocket pants in dark walnut brown. I have these same pants in the grove green and love them. They fit so nicely true to size; I’m wearing a misses 10. The linen pants do indeed have that washed and loved feel, but they still look a little elevated since they feature a zipper and button closure and belt loops. Unfortunately the dark walnut color is going fast, but they still have most sizes available in one color or the other. And remember, Talbots has misses, petite, plus, and plus petite offerings in many styles, including these versatile pants.

First I tried the pants with the crochet trim ribbed tank in the same walnut brown. I think it would be so smart to wear these together as a column under a jacket of a different color. Add a belt and jewelry and you have a really chic outfit. The tank fits comfortably true to size.

Next I tried the lace trim button-front voile top. With the right shoes and a belt I think this combination would work nicely. But really I was just trying the top on to check it out and this was the best pairing option I had in the fitting room. It’s lightweight and the quality is much better in person than in looks on the website (or probably here). That said, it is a little “precious,” so you’d want to style it with something modern and relaxed to offset the ruffles and lace a bit. It fits nicely true to size.
The next two pieces are probably poorly matched, but again, I was just working with what I’d gathered in the fitting room. I had received a number of requests for a denim skirt in my recent YouTube video about styling skirts. Honestly, I’m not seeing as many denim skirts as I have in recent years. And this long, gored version is not my favorite.

I found this denim midi skirt to run a little large in the waist and hips. I’m wearing my usual misses 10, but I think the 8 might be too small. So I think I’d be between sizes. That said, it might look much better with a simple tee or classic button-up shirt and a belt. The embroidered split neck top is a pretty one with nice details, but I don’t care for it with this skirt. It fits true to size.

I think the embroidered top looks much more suited to these washed linen wide crop pull-on pants. Like the previous linen pants, these have that lived-in feeling, but they’re much more casual with the elasticized waistband. They’re also a little shorter. They do fit true to size. These are great pants for everyday looks or vacation.

Above I topped the washed linen pull-on pants with the breezy stripe seersucker embroidered shell. This casual top adds interest and an Americana vibe to simple summer outfits. On the left you can see the length of the shell, so I would suggest giving it a front tuck as I did on the right. It fits true to size; I’m wearing a misses medium.

The pintuck sleeveless shift dress above is another fun and easy option for all things Americana. But it’s the kind of red, white and blue dress you won’t mind wearing long after Independence Day. The pintucks at the front of the dress give it just a little shape, so it has a feminine silhouette. And the length is nice, at just above the knee. The dress fits true to size; I’m wearing a misses medium.

Above I’m wearing a coordinated set of separates in Talbots’ towel terry. The Johnny collar top and matching pull-on shorts are comfortable and a little sporty. They’re a nice option for a beach vacation, but you could feel comfortable and well put together in these for a casual day at home, too. They both fit true to size. I’d probably mostly wear them with sneakers or sporty sandals.

The voile cotton fit and flare dress above hits me just above the knee for a flattering length. The shadow floral print features shades of pink and red on a background of ivory. The dress has a cinched waist with a matching tie belt. And the hemline features a soft flounce. The elasticized sleeve fits softly on my arm. The dress runs true to size; I’m wearing a misses 10.

The white diamond jacquard zip front dress above is one of my favorite things from the Talbots July 2026 collection. This sweet dress is simple but also a little elevated. It features a half zip and pockets. The dress runs true to size and comes in misses, petite and plus sizes.
Below I’m wearing a fun novelty tee. The short sleeve crewneck tee features one of this season’s most popular graphics – the fish! You may not be able to see them well in the photos below, but the fish are embellished with pretty sequins in various shades of blue. The tee fits true to size.

I’m wearing this fun tee with casual, modern straight crop pull-on jeans in a soft Tencel Lyocell. They fit true to size, but they are a tad snug on me in the hips, where I carry a little extra weight. I think they might stretch a little, however, with wear.

I liked the lightweight woven stretch dress above so much I ended up ordering it later. It’s very similar to one I got last year and wore on repeat. I especially enjoy dresses like this one when I travel by car. The SunWell UPF 50+ dress is made in 86% Polyester, 14% Spandex for an easy breezy feel. It runs true to size and comes in a full range of sizes and fits. It is a little shorter than the others above, hitting a good inch above the knee.

Above I’m wearing a canvas A-line skirt in black and ivory abstract floral. I think this skirt has a sophisticated look to it, especially with a black top like the jacquard side button tee shown above. Both fit true to size for a very comfortable fit. And I appreciate the length of the tee.

The draped v-neck ribbed tank in black, shown above, gives an elevated look to the lightweight woven floral cargo skort. Of course you could also top it with a white tee or tank. Both items fit true to size and come in a wide range of sizes.

I don’t know that I’d wear the short sleeve crewneck tee above with the floral skort, but I wanted you to see this fun piece. It has embellished leaves, but they look tasteful and a little sophisticated. I think this tee would look especially nice with white or flax colored linen pants. It fits true to size.
I always feel like I’m trying on SO MANY pieces during these try-on sessions. But when I put the posts together, I feel like I should have shown you more. But hopefully you’ve seen enough to see that most everything – well, everything in this case – runs true to size. Talbots does have generous sizing. So if you are between sizes, I’d go with your lower one of the two. I hope today’s Talbot July 2026 collection try-on session has been helpful to you. Thanks so much for stopping in. Blessed for My Day
I’m on the highway today traveling back to Ohio from Georgia. We had such a wonderful time visiting with family and friends. But I always dread the trip home, especially if it’s on the road. Traveling on busy freeways makes me a nervous Nellie.
So today I’m breathing…and praying. I’m trusting in the Lord to get us home safely. And I’m determined not to fret or be anxious. The only way I’ll accomplish that is to relax into the shelter of the Most High God. I can trust that He is enough.
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. ~ Psalm 91:1
