As spring fast approaches this is the time to make sure you have the completer pieces you need to create great outfits. Truly, jackets and cardigans are the stylish factor that sets this season apart from summer. When you complete your spring outfits with a jacket or other topper, you look more pulled together and polished. And you’ll feel a little more stylish.

A Blazer Will Elevate Your Look
While any stylish completer piece will make you look a little more pulled together, a blazer will instantly elevate your outfit. You can certainly wear a blazer with coordinating dress pants, but one of the most modern and effortless ways to sport a blazer is with jeans.
In 2025 the trends in blazers run the gamut. I’m continuing to see lady jackets and cropped blazers, as well as more relaxed versions. I’m also seeing fitted and double-breasted blazers in the forefront. But ultimately you want a blazer that suits your personal stye and flatters your body. For those reasons I lean into my Veronica Beard Miller Dickey Jacket, which I’ve enjoyed wearing for several years now. The quality on this jacket is just short of amazing, but I also have and can highly recommend this similar more economical option. I’ve rounded up a number of stylish blazers at a wide range of price points below.
A Denim Jacket Is Super Versatile
If you need to choose just one completer piece to travel with, go with a denim jacket. You can enjoy wearing it with everything from casual pants to dresses, from jeans to skirts. And I even love the juxtaposition I create when I top dressier pants with a denim jacket, like I did below.
I’ll definitely continue to wear my Levi’s Original Trucker Jacket. It’s just so comfortable and easy. But this year more fitted jackets are trending, as well as styles without a collar. You’ll also see versions of the lady jacket, blazers and bomber jackets in denim. But again, my biggest tip is to choose one that works with your personal style and body.
A Trench Coat Looks So Polished
Another versatile completer piece to add to your spring wardrobe is a classic trench coat. This “grown up” jacket will make any spring outfit a little more polished and sophisticated. You can wear one over a dress, skirt or dress pants, but I love the look of a trench coat over denim.
If you’re adding your first trench coat to your wardrobe, I suggest a classic khaki, navy or black. But you’ll find trenches in fun colors, too. And with 2025 deemed the Year of the Trench, you’ll also find lots of “souped up” versions with interesting prints, details and color combinations.
Cardigans Create a Relaxed Look
Finally, let’s talk about cardigans. These are not the most modern or trending completer pieces. But I do know many women like to wear them. I suggest having one in a modern button-front v-neck for the most up to date look.
