Happy Friday! This week has gone too fast for me. I’m preparing to go out of town next week and it’s always a hustle to get things done before heading out. Still, it’s been a good week. We’re wrapping it up with a rundown of my recent outfits of the day. Hopefully this will provide you a little style inspiration for real life outfits for a winter week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
Simple Work from Home Outfit
The majority of my days are spent at home working in my office. I find it easier to get “dressed up” a little more for those work-from-home days during the warmer months. But when it’s cold I just want to be warm and cozy. So I do invest in some sharp looking athleisure clothes that fit the bill.

I’m so excited about styling these wide leg track pants through the spring. I also have them in green with a white stripe down the side. They’re so on trend and I love the style and the comfort. Here I’ve topped them with a simple but cute hooded popover from Lands’ End. It also comes in a few cute striped varieties and fits true to size, as do the pants.
More Elevated Work from Home Look
As is often the case, if one day I dress down, I try to dress up a little more the next. So on this day I challenged myself to create a suitable winter outfit with my new white wide leg trouser jeans.

At first I was going to wear my booties that are a similar color to my sweater. But interestingly these white trouser jeans are a little shorter than the blue ones of the same kind. So I opted instead for my new silver sneakers. So fun! I added mixed metal jewelry from Brighton to tie the look together.
Outfit to Wear Out and About
On this day I thought I had a dentist appointment. It turned out I was wrong. Ha! I arrived at the dental office only to find out my appointment is in fact next month on the same day. Oh boy. Anyhow we had a lot of snow on the ground so I needed to wear my lug sole waterproof booties. Of course, the snow was off the road, but you just never know about parking lots.

So I decided to wear those same trouser jeans as the white ones, but in the dark wash. To keep the contrast in intensity low and to add some pretty color, I topped the jeans with my striped cashmere sweater. At the last minute I added a belt that coordinated with the booties nicely. I would have preferred to wear my pointy toe Ally booties here, but these worked for the day. By the way, I’m wearing the same size in the white and dark blue trouser jeans, but the white ones are roomier. The dark wash is a snug fit, but I liked it better than the size 30.
Unseasonably Warm Winter Day
We did have some warm days recently, so I decided to try out these new ankle length straight leg jeans. I feel like this silhouette and length is the unicorn I’m always hunting for. Ha! Do you have something like that that you’re always searching for in the perfect fit?

I do like these, but with 99% cotton and 1% elastane, they do look a little baggy at the knees with wear. And the fading at that part of the leg doesn’t help the situation. I’m keeping them though. They feel great and I like the length and silhouette. So they’ll be a good everyday jean for spring and summer. I topped them with a lightweight Merino wool sweater and wore my new Patricia Green boat shoes. As I shared in Wednesday’s video, boat shoes are very on trend. These have some characteristics of a driving moccasin, too, so they are sort of a hybrid. More my speed than the traditional Sperry.
Video Taping Day
The next day we recorded videos, so I wore a lot of outfits. I rarely settle into one for long on those days. But I did record one of the videos in that same fire red Merino wool sweater, this time worn over my mid wash full length trouser jeans. Yes, I have three pairs of those! These are the size 30, but now I’m wishing I got them in a 29 since I’ve lost some weight already and they’re a little big now.

That sweater is very lightweight. It’s part of their spring line, and I love it since we’ll stay pretty cool here in Cincinnati through April. I completed the look with my Ally booties and my gold Julie Vos jewelry.
Nice Date Night Outfit
James and I chose to go out to dinner to celebrate Valentine’s Day, but on a different night. I wanted to dress up a little, so I wore my silk jersey wrap dress from Diane Von Furstenberg. I purchased this dress about this time last year when I was looking for evening wear for my Alaska cruise. I ended up not taking it, but I’m so glad to have this classic in my closet.

For a suitable winter look I wore the dress with my black Ally boots (love!) and a black wool wrap coat. I carried my new green boxy shoulder bag for a splash of color. I felt pretty and James complimented me on my look. The outfit felt perfect for the occasion.
Easy Work From Home Outfit
Here’s another day when I wanted to be warm and cozy – probably for editing a video at my desk all day – but I still wanted to look smart and pulled together. I wore my Athleta Unstoppable high rise pants with a white fleece half-zip hoodie. Both are available in other colors, too.

This is such a comfortable outfit. I confess, I may have worn it more than one day! Everything fits true to size.
What I Wore to Church
I love a sweater dress in the winter. So I know I need to wear mine while I can. I wore my pretty blue sweater dress with my chocolate brown boots. I just accessorized with hoop earrings and this diamond necklace, that I recently got from Quince.

When it was time to go out in the cold, I added my Quince wool coat and carried my brown suede bag.
What I Wore Out and About
For a couple of appointments followed by “blog research” at the mall, I wore my mid wash trouser jeans with the same taupe sweater I wore above. I topped it with my suede jacket in a similar color. I love wearing the same color (or close enough) in a jacket and top.

I like how I kept the contrast in intensity low in this outfit. It felt comfortable and stylish. I’m determined to keep enjoying that suede jacket into the spring, so I look forward to pairing it with white jeans, too.
Classy Work from Home Outfit
I think I was planning on getting out this day…or maybe I just wanted to dress up a little. But either way I ended up wearing my black Paige Sasha jeans and this pretty black sweater at home for working from my office. I did add the brown booties because I just like how they work with the brown in the sweater. Don’t you just love cherry blossoms?

Those jeans are on sale, by the way, and pretty well available in all sizes. I wear a 31 in these, but might need a 30 now.
Thanks so much for stopping in. Next Friday I’ll be sharing a travel look and some warm weather outfits since I’ll be spending the last four days of the week in sunny Arizona. Yay!

Blessed for My Day
When I have hard-to-handle and big emotions, sometimes I want to escape the pain of them. Know what I mean? Feelings like sorrow and hurt and loss and grief weigh heavy on the heart and take up more room than we would like. They feel crippling and overwhelming. And they stay in our hearts longer than we would like. The temptation is to stuff them down or escape somehow.
But I’ve learned that if I will work through these emotions instead of running from them, I come out healthier on the other side. Otherwise bitterness takes root and my heart can become hard and jaded. For me, the best way to give these emotions the space and time they need while working through them in a positive way, is to invite Jesus in as my companion. He lifts some of the burden and gives me hope, perspective and wisdom while my heart heals.
Turn to me and be gracious to me,
For I am lonely and afflicted.
The troubles of my heart are enlarged;
Bring me out of my distresses. ~ Psalm 25:16-17
