Happy Friday! It’s been sort of an unofficial beauty week here at Dressed for My Day. I’ve been sharing all of my current body and skin favorites. Monday I posted my current body care routine, including the new dry brush I’m loving. Tuesday I highlighted my current morning skincare regimen, spilling the beans on how much I paid for this exquisite moisturizer. And Thursday I shared my evening skincare routine, which culminates with this must-have oil. Let’s wrap the week up with a look at my current hair care products.

I’ve recently returned to wearing my hair straight. I can still whip up the waves on a whim if I desire. But I’m just enjoying the sleeker, straighter look right now. I got a trim just this Tuesday, and I did actually purchase on more product that I’ve just started using. It’s not photographed here, but I’ll share it when we get to it.
My Current Hair Care Routine
Just for your information, I have let my hair go grey. It’s a silvery, blonde grey. My hair leans to the dry side, and I only have to wash it two or three times a week. I have a good bit of hair, too, but it has definitely thinned some since my 40s. My hair is cut in what my stylist calls a “modern bob.”
Colleen Rothschild Quench & Shine Restorative Mask: About once a week I use this thick, rich hair mask. It helps to restore nourishment, locking in much needed hydration. Instead of using it as directed, I apply the mask to dry hair and then put my hair in a plastic shower cap or even Saran Wrap for about 15-30 minutes. Then I rinse out in the shower and proceed to wash.

Colleen Rothschild quench & shine shampoo – I first tried the Colleen Rothschild hair care products a couple of years ago when I was preparing for a vacation. I ordered their Quench & Shine Travel Essentials and absolutely loved traveling with them. That set is a $100 value, usually priced at $75, but right now it is just $48. Truly that is a deal! Those products last quite a while and you get a really nice travel bag, too. Anyhow, I loved the products so much I ordered them all in full sizes.
Colleen Rothschild quench & shine conditioner Both the shampoo and conditioner rinse out easily, leaving your hair silky clean and manageable. If you’re looking for extra volume, these may not be your products. They produce more of a smooth texture. But for my current do they’re perfect.

Colleen Rothschild Styling Cream: I apply this cream after my hair has had a chance to air dry just a bit. It helps to protect against the heat of my hair dryer as well as the effects of humidity. It leaves hair feeling nourished and silky soft.
Better Not Younger Style Memory Mousse: I was introduced to this styling mousse when I did a YouTube collaboration with the brand. I liked it so much I have continued to use it. I love that it gives my hair body and seems to add volume, too. It doesn’t leave hair feeling crunchy like so many similar products do. I use an amount roughly equal to a teaspoon full of whipped cream. My hairdresser says that one of the biggest mistakes women make when styling their own hair is they don’t massage the product in well enough. So I take the time to really work it in well. I apply it just before drying my hair.

ORIBE Gold Lust Dry Heat Protection Spray: This is my new product, so I’ve just used it once since my hairdresser used it Tuesday. After drying my hair with my Dyson Hair Dryer, I spray it with this heat protector. Then I use a flat iron (similar to this one) to get my hair silky straight. The spray helps protect the hair from the heat, but it also adds shine and fights frizz. I do a lot to fight frizz in my routine!
Colleen Rothschild Smooth & Shine Hair Serum: After flat ironing my hair, I use just a very small pump of this hair serum. I rub it into my hands, pat them on a dry towel to remove excess product and then lightly run my hands through my hair. I don’t want to get a lot of the oil on my hair, just the faintest application. This serum gives my hair shine, makes it swingy and fights frizz. That’s usually the end of my hair styling right there.
ORIBE Dry Texturizing Spray: Sometimes if I want a little more body or on a second or third day after washing, I apply this texturizer. I just spray on the faintest amount and then work it in with my hands. It helps to add a little lift and texture, reviving my hairstyle a bit.
Bumble and Bumble Flexible Hold Hair Spray: If needed, I use this hair spray. But honestly, I hardly ever use it.
So that’s a wrap! If you have any questions about my hair or the products I use, feel free to ask in the comments. Thanks for dropping in. I hope you have a lovely weekend!

Blessed for My Day
Have you ever been on your way to a gathering and given yourself a good talking to about how you need to behave? Maybe you were going to encounter someone with whom you have a hard time getting along, so you lectured yourself about keeping your mouth shut, counting to ten, being kind and smiling no matter what. Ha! I guess we’ve all been there.
But the problem is when we try to muster up such behavior we’re often starting in the wrong place. We try to make ourselves behave a certain way, when in fact we need to change our posture first. The Bible teaches that “bearing with one another in love” actually begins with a posture of humility and gentleness. Pride will wreck our best laid intentions if we do not check it at the door, or better yet, the floor. If you’re struggling to treat someone kindly, talk it out with the Lord instead of yourself. Ask Him to help you approach the other person with a godly humility, gentleness and patience.
with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love… ~ Ephesians 4:2
