Hello and welcome to Dressed for My Day. While I generally like to focus on fashions and style tips for women over 50 here, every once in a while I do like to tiptoe into the area of beauty. There’s definitely more to getting dressed for our day than putting on a cute outfit. Makeup, skincare and haircare help complete the package. So this week I’m sharing the products for body, skin and hair care that I’m loving. Today let me tell you about my current evening skincare routine.

As I’ve mentioned earlier in the week, I try a lot of beauty products. Actually, brands reach out to me almost every single day with offers to try their products. But I discriminately pick and choose only those that I think will resonate with you and work well for me, too. And then I only actually share with you those that do indeed give me good results. So I’ve come across some of the products I’m sharing today through those offers. But today’s post is not sponsored, so I’m spilling the beans about the products I use on the regular and return to over and over.
My Current Evening Skincare Routine
I’m only sharing how I apply the products, the order in which I apply them, how they go on and how they feel and benefit me. For more information about contents and the benefits of each item, I encourage you to click through to the retail website and read that information there. Just click on the names of the products in the caption of the photos.

Night time is an important time to put the very best products on your face. During the night, as you rest, your body regenerates cells. So thoroughly cleansing your face and then applying high quality products with real benefits will get you the best results.

Elemis pro-collagen cleansing balm: I’ve been using this silky, luxurious cleansing balm for about five years now. It feels like a professional facial in a jar. In fact, when we were on our Regent luxury cruise around Alaska, I went to their spa for a facial. And guess what? They use Elemis products on Regent cruises! They actually just came out with a similar green fig cleansing balm and I’m so tempted to order it. The one I use smells dreamy and goes on beautifully.
The product applies like a silky balm, turns into an oil as you gently rub it all over your face and then becomes a milky foam when you add water to it. It cleanses my face beautifully and leaves it soft and nourished. I do sometimes use the similar Colleen Rothschild cleansing balm. I do like it, and that’s generally what I travel with. But in all honesty, it is not as silky and luxurious as the Elemis product.

Elemis pro-collagen quarts lift serum: After I cleanse my face, I immediately apply this Elemis serum. It’s packed with ingredients that helps my skin look smoother, firmer and younger. You can actually apply it morning and evening, but I choose to apply this one in the evening only. This serum is a real difference maker for me.

City Lash: I apply this lash ointment just onto my lash line both morning and evening. It’s really made a difference in the thickness and health of my lashes. I’ve always had short, scant and blonde lashes. But they’ve definitely gotten fuller with twice daily use of City Lash.

Colleen Rothschild retinol supreme eye serum: I carefully apply this serum nightly, just around my eye. As the product absorbs it will move in toward the eye on its own. It contains a blend of retinol and vitamin C to revitalize the skin around the eyes. With repeated use this product is also suppose to increase the moisture in this area by 6000%. Wow! I need that since my eyes have gotten a little dry post-menopause.

Now here’s where I do something different a couple of nights a week. So the next two products are interchangeable.
Colleen Rothschild intense hydrating mask: Twice a week, usually Sunday and Thursday evenings, I swap in this hydrating mask for my moisturizer. I apply a thick, generous amount all over my face and neck. You can remove it after ten minutes, but I keep it on all night long. Especially during the winter or after airplane travel, I find this to be essential for restoring hydration to my skin.

Elemis pro-collagen night cream: The other nights I follow the serum and eye treatments with this Elemis night cream. It’s light and silky. This hydrating night cream keeps my skin from drying out overnight and creates a more radiant, firmer complexion.

Colleen Rothschild face oil N9: I always let my moisturizer or hydrating mask set a bit to absorb into my skin before applying the next product. That’s usually when I brush my teeth or put on pajamas. But I never skip my face oil. I apply just one pump of this rich, silky oil all over my face, locking in the other products so they can work effectively through the night. The greatest benefit of this face oil, is that when I awaken the next morning my face still feels hydrated and moist, not dry at all.

City Lip Night Oil I apply this creamy oil to my lips just before bed. It has made such a difference in the health of my lips. It does include an exfoliant, so the first time or two that you use it you may notice your lips “peeling” a bit in the mornings. But after several uses, you’ll find that your lips are healthy and rarely chap.
Thanks so much for dropping in. If you have any questions about my evening skincare routine, let me know in the comments. And don’t forget to check out my favorite body care products and my current morning skincare routine, too.

Blessed for My Day
Do you have a competitive streak? Hahaha! I sure do. Sometimes competition is legitimate and healthy. Other times our competitiveness is a result of envy and discontent, and it breeds more of the same. It’s certainly admirable to want to be your best. But to desire to be THE best in any one area can be a distraction from our real purpose and other equally important life goals. I have a feeling the enemy of our souls is the one who plants those seeds of competition, so we best be on guard against them.
Jesus reminded His disciples that the mark of a real winner is service. Serving others selflessly and without recognition certainly doesn’t seem like the path to success. But in God’s economy, it is. So today let’s turn those desires to “be the best” into a passion to serve instead. As we focus on others and serving them genuinely and authentically, we’ll discover what true success is all about.
And sitting down, He called the twelve and *said to them, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” ~ Mark 9:35
