Having a manageable and effective skincare routine has been important to me since I was a teenager. I like to use the best products that I can for my current skincare needs, and I make sure I use them consistently. That’s why I like to keep the process streamlined and the products to a minimum. Today I’m sharing my current morning skincare routine and I’ll share the products I use in the evenings later in the week.

As I mentioned in yesterday’s body care post, this is not a sponsored post. And while I love working with sponsors and discovering new beauty products, I do have products that I tend to return to again and again for great results. So today you’re hearing about my absolute favorites…at the moment!
My Current Morning Skincare Routine
I’m sharing how these products apply, how they feel on my skin and my personal experience with them. To learn about ingredients and benefits, I encourage you to click through to the website.

Elemis Resurfacing Facial Wash I use this creamy facial cleanser each morning in the shower. I use just a couple of pumps to clean my face thoroughly and rinse with water. I purchased this container in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in July and I’m just half-way through it, so you can see this bottle will last me about a year. I’ve been using it for three years with great results. It’s gentle, but thoroughly removes the grime from my walk or workout, leaving my face feeling fresh and hydrated.

City Lash: I’ve always had scant, small lashes. But with twice daily use of this light ointment, my lashes have looked their absolutely healthiest ever. I use it immediately after getting out of the shower and again at night. You can always use code KAY15 for 15% off at City Beauty.

Prestige La Micro-Lotion De Rose Advanced Formula: I had a skincare and makeup session with experts from Dior last May and loved the products so much I ended up purchasing some in their special deal. I dropped a lot of money on these, and at first I regretted it. But as I began to use the products I was so glad I did. I apply just one single pump of this lovely serum to my face and neck first thing, while my skin is still dewy from the shower. I’ve used this same bottle since May and, again, I’m only halfway through it. I’ve noticed a firming of my skin, minimized wrinkles and a freshness to the tone of my skin. I’m truly impressed, and I will repurchase. Oh, and it smells just lovely.

Fatigue Fighting Eye Gel: An eye cream or gel is an important step in our skincare. This Dr. Brandt product goes on light, but gets the job done for me. I just apply to the outer edges of my eye and work it in gently with the applicator. I let this absorb a bit before applying the next products.
In fact, I tend to do my morning skincare as I get dressed. I’ll apply one product and then comb out my hair, apply another product and brush my teeth, etc. It’s important to let each product absorb into your skin thoroughly before applying the next.

Needles No More- No More Baggage: I only use this additional eye gel as needed, when I’ve had a fitful night’s sleep or am experiencing a little water-retention. It immediately helps relieve puffiness under the eyes, and it helps with dark circles, too.
By the way, right now you can get both of those eye creams together in a duo for 40% off with code KAY40.

Dior Prestige Face Cream: Here’s where it gets really pricey. I guess that’s why I’ve been using this silky cream since May and haven’t even shared it anywhere. I’ve NEVER spent this much on a lotion before, but oh my. I’ve also never met such a luxurious and effective face cream. This moisturizer is like none other I’ve ever used. It leaves my face feeling so nourished and hydrated, smooth and youthful. And it works beautifully with my Dior makeup, too. You can also purchase it as a refill, and I have refilled mine twice since originally purchasing it in May.

Liquid Sun Shield: A sun screen is so important. And it seems every time I find one I love, they stop making it. So I recently happened upon this liquid shield from Dr. Brandt and I love it. It goes on beautifully, it’s a mineral sunscreen, so it gives great protection. And it absorbs fast, working beautifully with my makeup primer below.

Forever Glow Illuminating Primer: I did include my makeup primer and makeup in this list because they both include skincare properties. This primer goes on beautifully and has a faint glow. You actually can wear it alone or under your foundation. I highly recommend it, and the cost is not prohibitive.

Forever Skin Glow Hydrating Foundation: After applying the primer, I apply this Dior foundation with a BK Beauty round foundation brush. I just feel I get the best application that way. It goes on beautifully and the coverage is buildable, so you can wear it light or with more coverage. I always “bounce” over it with a BeautyBlender, too, for the best airbrushed look.
City Lips Line Therapy: And the final step of my skincare is this lip therapy. I apply it after my foundation so that my foundation can go on smoothly around my mouth. It helps keep my lips healthy and it preps them for lipstick and gloss. You can always use code KAY15 for 15% off at City Beauty.
So that’s my morning skincare routine. It really goes quite quickly and feels effortless at this point. I’m definitely still getting older and look 60. Ha! But I do feel my skin is the healthiest it’s ever been.
One final word about my skincare routine. I did go to the dermatologist for my yearly skin exam this past week. I’d put it off for a couple of years actually. I guess no one enjoys those. But it’s so necessary for me, since I do have skin cancer in my family. If you have skin cancer in your family or you’ve spent a lot of time in the sun, I highly recommend you have your skin check yearly for any issues. It’s worth it, sweet friend.
Thanks for reading. I hope you have a lovely day!

Blessed for My Day
Jesus replied to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who is saying to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.” She *said to Him, “Sir, You have no bucket and the well is deep; where then do You get this living water? You are not greater than our father Jacob, are You, who gave us the well and drank of it himself, and his sons and his cattle?” Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again; but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never be thirsty; but the water that I will give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up to eternal life.” ~ John 4:10-14

Hi Kay,
It seems you’ve changed up your format here on your blog. I, personally , am here for the clothing trends and the ways to wear them. I realize it’s must be a tremendous amount of work to do all that you do and I appreciate it. Thanks
Hi Mel. I don’t think I’ve changed any of the format. I try to share a variety of post types, but I certainly do focus on fashion. Thanks for being here!
Hi Kay, I also use a liquid foundation, applied with a brush, but I never thought to use a makeup sponge to “bounce” the finish to look more airbrushed. I looked in my drawer, and voilà, I do indeed have a makeup sponge! Will try this method tomorrow. 🙂
Wonderful. I hope that works well for you. I will note, however, that the Beauty Blender is specifically designed to work that way. I’m not sure about other sponges, so you may or may not get the desired results. But fingers crossed!
Mine is from Jane Iredale. It’s their Flocked Sponge Makeup Blender. 🙂
