Happy Friday! It’s another cold day here, but I do plan to get out and run a couple of errands. In fact, I’ve bundled up and gotten out quite a bit this week. So that makes for a much more interesting How I Really Dressed for My Day post! Let’s see what I wore this extremely cold winter week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
Thursday
I guess I’m truly old because I cannot remember where I wore this outfit last Thursday. Ha! I’ve checked my calendar, but that was no help. I do know I went somewhere. Oh! I think I did a try-on session at Ann Taylor and walked the mall a bit because it was too cold to walk outside. That’s it!

Thus I wore items I could easily get on and off, comfortable shoes and layers. I think I even parked in the Nordstrom garage and left my puffer jacket in the car so I wouldn’t have to fool with it. This outfit felt modern and true to my personal style. I get so many compliments on those pants.
Friday
Friday I got out to a different mall to do a try-on session at Evereve. (By the way, I noticed that all those jeans I shared in that Evereve post are now marked down!) On this cold day I wore my Nic+Zoe sweater (featured in Wednesday’s YouTube video) with some darker wash Talbots jeans and my pink puffer jacket.

I accessorized with cognac boots and bag, and minimal jewelry.
Saturday
Here’s another day where I’m not sure where I went. Ha! I know we were at home most of the day, so maybe I wore this brown tonal outfit to dinner or lunch. I haven’t worn these wide leg brown cords as much as I had hoped. So I’m trying to make good use of them for the second half of winter.

I noticed that Veronica Beard has marked that sweater down. It’s luscious and warm, but it’s also pretty pricey. I wear a size medium comfortably, and I always wear a body fitting cotton cami underneath for extra warmth. Ahh, my Sorrel boots are also marked down. Sizes are going fast, but these are great boots for winter weather.
Sunday
Sunday I needed to dress very warm as a cold front was coming in. As in COLDER. Hahaha! I put together a column of blue with my blue wool tweed trousers and a radiant sapphire cashmere turtleneck sweater. My pants are a few years old and no longer available, and the sweater is almost sold out.

I completed the blue outfit with black leather accessories. Then I had to decide what coat to wear. I tried my navy coat, but it didn’t look right to me. I don’t actually have a black wool coat, oddly enough, and I didn’t want to wear my quilted one. So I opted for grey. I guess it worked out okay. I definitely would have preferred black here. And yeah, I added those red gloves when I couldn’t find my black ones in our rush to get out the door.
Monday
Monday we recorded this week’s YouTube video, as well as one for next week. I was in and out of outfits, of course. But I did wear this one most of the morning before we got started taping. I’m LOVING this sweater. It’s going to look great with white jeans, too.

You can see more of this outfit in this week’s YouTube video below.
Tuesday
A lot of Tuesdays I never really get completely dressed because I’m at my desk editing a video all day. But this week we had to record an Instagram reel, so I had to put myself together. I decided to wear one of the outfits I had modeled in the YouTube video and settled on this cotton sweater and my off white jeans.

Obviously I didn’t go out into the cold on this day. In fact, the temperatures were in the single digits all day. Brrr. But this outfit felt fun and fresh for the day in my office.
Wednesday
Wednesday night I attended my first book club meeting at a nearby pub. Yeah, same old story: it was crazy cold! And while I shared about adding color to your winter wardrobe in Wednesday’s video, I’m really still enjoying my neutrals. So I opted to wear my grey wool pants with my oatmeal colored cashmere crewneck sweater over this t-shirt.

I completed the look with my simple black Chelsea boots and my necklace & earrings from Penelope. By the way, Rachel, the founder of Penelope Fine Jewelry, has graciously offered our community extended savings just through February. Use code KAY25 for 25% off her beautiful designs. March 1 the code reverts back to KAY20 for 20% off. I love my Penelope pieces and wear them almost every day.
When it was time to go to my book club, I put on my Quince double-faced Merino wool coat and warm winter accessories. This was my favorite outfit of the week.
Thursday
I had dreaded Thursday for weeks. I had an annual skin check with a new dermatologist. You know, a dermatologist who checks your whole body is one you get on a pretty intimate basis with. Ahem. And I’d been referred to a male doctor, whereas my last one was female. I had no idea what to expect. Plus, I’ve already had to have a Mohs surgery a few years ago, and a precancerous spot on my nose has been growing back lately. Bleh. So I put on a cheerful sweater and comfortable jeans and sneakers, even though I couldn’t wear any makeup.

The appointment went splendidly. The doctor was very nice and FAST. I loved that! He found nothing suspicious, but did freeze off the spot on my nose and another place on my arm. I was out of there in under 15 minutes. I treated myself to some Chicken Salad Chick and hurried on home to write this blog post. 😊
Thanks so much for reading along today. I truly appreciate you, sweet friend. Have a blessed and beautiful Friday! Oh, and get your skin checked!

Blessed for My Day
Have you ever experienced a painful experience that ultimately drove you closer to the Lord? It’s only to be expected that when we are suffering, hurting or feeling hopeless, we will be more prone to turn to God with renewed fervor. Indeed, God often uses hardships to bring us back to the center of His will. This may seem cruel, but in fact it is out of God’s kindness and love for us that He allows afflictions to beckon us home.
The good Lord only allows our afflictions to last as long as needed for Him to complete His work in our lives. He is not heartless and cruel at all. So when we do suffer, we can trust Him through the process and know that He is working good in our lives…if we allow Him to.
Before I was afflicted I went astray,
But now I keep Your word…
It is good for me that I was afflicted,
So that I may learn Your statutes. ~ Psalm 119:67, 71
So glad your derm appointment went well. I can relate to the anxiety that comes with the fear of cancer returning. God is good!
Thank you. It was quite a relief.
I think the gray coat with the navy outfit looks great! I too need a new black wool coat and am on the hunt for one. Love the blue sweater with the cream jeans also.
Yes, I had a black wool coat for about 25 years that I absolutely loved. I’m pretty sure I passed it on a year or two ago, or I would go right back to it. It’s hard to find just the right one!
Kay, your Quince coat outfit is just beautiful on you! All of the outfits that you shared are so lovely!
Thank you. I really enjoyed wearing that outfit. Those grey pants are just the best I’ve ever owned. I hope I really do get to enjoy them for years.
The Nic & Zoe blue sweater is unique. I hope to find it on sale sometime soon. Thank you for sharing what you wear daily. It helps so much to see a nicely dressed woman.
I love the blue outfit with the gray coat. The red gloves look nice and intentional with the pop of color. I also love the gray trousers. I wish I could find similar in a petite size. They’re not over the top in the width. Your devotional message is good too. I know two women who suffer chronic pain with their illnesses. It’s very hard to be in constant pain.
Loved your outfits today. My favorite was the first one. I went ahead and ordered the quince gray hoodie. Hopefully it fits.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Very thankful your appointment went well.
I like the fair isle sweater with the dark brown cords and boots. You should wear that a lot!
I love the posts about what you really wear. I’ve been trying to duplicate those outfits just for fun, from items in my closet, in order to discover some new looks.
Glad eveything went well for your apt. I too have had spots of basil cell taken off or spots froze. I too had to much son as a kid and teenager as a life guard. We’ve owned a boat too, so there is that. I wish I had a lady dermatologist too. My man doctor is good at spotting but not vet thorough. He expects you to show where you are concerned. Last apt. I made him be more proactive. Thanks for reminder almost time to go in again. He is way booked out.
Kay, you mentioned finding a book club on Facebook. I returned to your post to find the link, but it’s gone. I found bookclubs.com . Is that where you found it? Pls email me privately if you wish.
Yes, Lael. That’s what I used. I think I just mentioned it in the newsletter, that’s why you didn’t see the link here.
I think the grey coat looks really good with the blue outfit.
