Hello! Welcome to Dressed for My Day. It’s YouTube video Wednesday, and in today’s video I will give you 12 styling tips to help you look pulled together and even chic in the heat.

How to Look Chic in the Heat - Youtube video

Before moving to Ohio this past July, I spent most of my life living in the south. I moved from Georgia to Texas and then to Arizona. So I am more than familiar with sticky heat and dry heat. Ha! While I’ve loved dressing in layers here in Ohio, I also had to learn how to create interesting, pulled together outfits without all the fuss when I lived in hotter climates. So today’s video is really for you gals who live in those hotter places and need those styling tips.

But all of us will experience at least a few hot, sticky days in the middle of the summer. And these styling tips will come in handy then, too. I hope you enjoy the video! Let’s learn how to look chic in the heat.

If for some reason the video player didn’t download in the page, click here to watch it on YouTube.

While you can shop any of the current looks I shared in the video through the Description box under the video on YouTube, I’m also providing a shopping widget filled with items I mentioned or shared below.

Have you ever come to a crossroads and been baffled about which road to take? I most certainly have. In fact, there have been numerous times when I’ve had to make a decision and neither direction seemed necessarily wrong, but I wondered if one way was better than the other. I wanted to choose wisely, but I really couldn’t tell from the information available which would be best. Have you been there?

I’ve found that the best thing to do in those circumstances is simply to seek the Lord. The temptation is to seek an answer, a direction, writing on the wall. Help! But if we will simply seek the Lord’s heart, try to align our heart and mind with His through prayer and consistent Bible reading and the submit our lives to Him, He will direct. He may not write on the walls of our homes or speak during out dreams. But He will direct our steps, often one at a time. So if you’ve been looking for an answer and coming up dry, spend some time simply seeking Him instead.

Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take. ~ Proverbs 3:6

  1. Hi Kay, I enjoyed your video today. You had good tips and I enjoyed hearing your voice. It feels like you are a sweet friend, and I look forward to all of your posts! Today I used your link to Loft and ordered 2 denim skirts. I was inspired by one of your previous posts on how to wear a denim skirt. I’ve always enjoyed wearing a cute casual skirt in summer & have lost weight and needed some fresh options. I ordered a white denim with gold buttons and a dark rinse sailor button skirt. I seem to be in between sizes by their chart, so I ordered 2 sizes in each, 40% off with free shipping & returns!! Trying to keep favorite stores in business. I really hope I can get a good fit! Keep up the good work! Love your Blessed for my day!

  2. Hi Kay! I really enjoy your videos on Wednesdays! I have subscribed and would give you a thumbs up weekly, but I cannot seem to locate that spot to click. Please know this new addition of Wednesday videos is a GREAT addition to your blog.

  3. Enjoyed your video today, but here in Ohio, it does get very hot and humid some years more then others. I worked in a factory for 38 years where there were 700 degree ovens and I could have used some of your tips back then! I could never wear a necklace. They always seemed to be too hot! Today, it is my kind of weather…sunny and 60-70s! The bad part for me is as I have gotten older, I can’t handle the cold either, so I am seldom happy with the weather! Rainy dreary days are the worst!

  4. Such a great video, Kay! I just gave you a thumbs up, you deserve it. I subscribed to you channel so tha I could comment.

  6. A post right up my alley. We are burning up here on MS Coast. I had all the doors and windows open, ceiling fans on and by noon we it was 85 degrees in the house. Thank God for Mr Carrier. Whew!
I love all these looks. I just translate shorts to pants. I usually switch to thin fabrics so wearing long is still cool. I love all white and if they ever come out with stain proof fabric, I’m right there with you on that look.

    1. Woohoo! Good news! I didn’t link it because it was sold out. But they’ve recently restocked it in a few sizes. And it’s available in a few other colors, too. I’m wearing a medium and it’s a good fit but leans toward snug in the arms and chest. Here’s the link: https://shopstyle.it/l/bhoDz

  7. This was a helpful video! I love the all white look. Is their a link for the white sleeveless top with this outfit?

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. I think this tank may be the same. Mine is from last year, but it looks and sounds the same. And it’s on sale! I love this tank and it’s available in some pretty colors. I may order one too in a different shade. ? https://shopstyle.it/l/bhoW9

  8. Hi Kay,
I have thoroughly enjoyed this video with all of those wonderful tips to look great in the heat. I have been living in North Carolina for the past 32 years and it can get pretty hot and humid in the summer. I also love how you put a lot of thought and many details into your videos and posts. In this particular post, I liked how you take classic items that everyone might have already in their closet and combine them with trendier pieces, so we don’t have to go out and shop for all new clothes. I am looking forward to trying out some of those looks today. We have finally some very nice warm weather here in NC.
