I’m back with a reader favorite post today. I’m sharing my real life outfits from the past seven days. We’ll start off with a look I wore on an unseasonably balmy day and end up with my outfit from yesterday when the highs were in the 20s. So it’s a true winter week of outfits. Let’s see how I really dressed for my day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.
I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.
What I Wore on an Unseasonably Warm Friday
I had not been out of the house (except for my daily walks) all week last week when I realized I had a little free time on my calendar last Friday. So I headed out to Evereve to do a little research for this week’s YouTube video. Excited to take advantage of an unseasonably warm day, I left off the coat and wore a favorite blazer instead.

Since I would be trying on clothes I wanted to keep my outfit simple. And I was feeling a little sporty that day. So I created a classic, casual look with favorite jeans, a brown belt and a crisp white button up. I completed it with stylish, comfortable sneakers and an easy brown suede tote. I’ve missed wearing my blazers since it’s been so cold this winter, so it was fun to get to pull one out again.
What I Wore After Recording on Saturday
Saturday we recorded Wednesday’s YouTube video, so I was really in and out of clothes all day. Those days take quite a toll on me honestly. I’m so blessed that James always serves me dinner on those evenings. As in I sit on the sofa and he provides the meal and literally waits on me. Anyhoo! When the recording was all said and done I ended up in this easy outfit.

I also have these track pants in a green with white stripe that I purchased last year. I love wearing them into the spring. And this year they continue to be so on trend. These are a nice thickness – substantial but not too heavy. For more ideas on how to wear them see this week’s video.
How I Dressed for Church Sunday
James pastors a very small home church now. And this week with a couple of families out we were a very small number. Still, I like to dress up a bit most Sundays. It was cold so I decided to wear my Ally brown boots. I often start my outfits with my outerwear or my footwear.

This is probably my least favorite look of the week. I think the cardigan was not the best choice. But since it was so cold, it’s what I reached for. I do love the skirt so I’d like to take a swing at styling it again in a couple of weeks. I liked what I did with in this YouTube video.
What I Wore Monday
Monday I decided to put back on one of the other outfits I wore in Wednesday’s video. This is probably my favorite outfit of all the ones I modeled in the video. It’s definitely the most comfortable and it feels most like me.

I’m really crushing on scarfs right now. In fact, I’ve ordered a couple more that should be arriving soon. I lost two of my favorites on my recent trip to Texas, and I’m still kicking myself for that. But since they’re so on trend this year I’m excited to add a few to my collection and wear those as well as the ones I already own frequently. This particular scarf is quite reasonably priced and very versatile.
How I Dressed for My Day Tuesday
Tuesday I actually wore the other track pants from Wednesday’s video with a shirt I did not wear in that feature.

If you’ve seen the video from Wednesday you may have noted that I did not style any shirts with this half tuck. I know a lot of my viewers and readers don’t especially care for it, so I just decided not to go there. Lol! But in real life, I love it. A half tuck gives me the definition I like while still creating a casual, relaxed vibe. It’s just how I roll.
What I Wore for Video Meetings After Videos on Wednesday
Wednesday was a busy work day. We recorded the next two YouTube videos and then I had three video conference meetings. So I kept on the print top and blazer I’d worn in the last video for those meetings.

I don’t generally wear high contrast in intensity outfits. I also tend to shy away from mixing blue denim and black, although it’s perfectly acceptable to combine the two. But I think the black accessories help pull this blue and black combination together nicely. The print in the shirt features both blue and black, so the black blazer felt like the right choice here.
How I Dressed for an Appointment and Blog Research on Thursday
I scooted out for an appointment fairly early Thursday and then paused to have lunch at a favorite restaurant. During the meal I got a notice from a brand that I’m working with and I needed to go try on some clothes to place an order with them. You can pretty much know that whenever I say I’m doing blog research I’m at the mall or some retailer trying on clothes and scouting out the new arrivals for fit and quality.

It was another frigid cold day, so I needed to go warm. Once again I began my outfit with my outerwear. I wanted to wear this red coat. I decided to wear something other than jeans, so I opted for grey wool Me+Em trousers from a few years ago with a classic grey cashmere sweater over a white tee. I accessorized with dark brown loafers (more economical option) and my dark brown croc embossed tote. I loved the way this look came together and felt fabulous all day. You can’t see them, but I’m wearing white socks with my loafers.
Well that’s a wrap! Thank you so much for stopping in for a little style inspiration. I sure am ready for Spring! But meanwhile I’m doing my best to remember to take photos each day of my winter outfits. I’ll be back next week with more cold weather combinations. Have a lovely weekend!

Blessed for My Day
Have you ever struggled with an addiction or hang-up or habit? Have you felt like you were in bondage to a pattern that you couldn’t break? Maybe it was or is something embarrassing that you don’t feel comfortable sharing with others, so you hunker down and try to break free on your own…to no avail. I discovered years ago that one of the strongholds of addictions, hang-ups and habits is secrecy. When we hide in the shadows with our problem it does a number on us, shaming us into believing we’re the only one with this particular dilemma. The fear of being found out only binds us tighter to the problem and we feel all the more helpless and hopeless.
But in fact, truth sets us free. If you are struggling with an issue that you’ve battled for some time unsuccessfully, consider if you’ve been truthful about it with anyone. It might be time to open up and seek some loving, gracious accountability or counsel. When we speak the truth about our hang-ups – and we all have them at times – we’ll be able to break out of the bondage and start on the path to freedom. I know this from personal experience, dear sister. Don’t be afraid to speak the truth about your problems, especially to Jesus. But also seek out a kind and loving person to whom you can share your heart and your hurts.
So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, “If you continue in My word, then you are truly My disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” ~ John 8:31-32
Hi Kay. You look lovely in all these outfits but my favourites were Friday, Monday, and Thursday. I’ve started taking photos of my outfits, and while I am sometimes disappointed with how I look, I feel I have really discovered a lot about the best colours, jean silhouettes, sweater length, and necklines for me. I have seen concretely how contrast in intensity and footwear matters. Do you have any tips on how to take good pictures?
Hello, I live up here on the north coast, in Kirtland, Ohio. Lake county. We have 14″ of snow and it is 15 deg. here. I hope you are able to get your walk in. How far do you walk? I will have to ride my stationary bike today in my basement today. Too cold to be out and about. I really like when your share what you really wore. Thank you.
I love that shirt that is no longer available!
My personal favorites from this week are your Monday and Thursday, very easy for me to duplicate in my best colors with what I have in my closet. I could also copy your Sunday outfit, with a cowl top instead of a turtleneck. Like my mother, I have a “fear of being choked in a turtleneck”. LOL! Your BFMD is powerful and oh so true! God does amazing work when we bring the dark things into the light.
I enjoyed your Wednesday video this week featuring track pants. Honestly I wasn’t sure I would continue watching when I saw these were the featured item. But, one of my style goals this year is to learn about and consider some trends for my wardrobe. Surprisingly, there were several looks that I really liked and can see wearing. I think this video was successful because you featured several styles and colors of track pants and showed different ways to wear each one. I appreciate you, your content and passion for helping women in this way. Have a lovely day!
Oh gosh, Kay! Yes, please on any sleep strategies!!
Kay,
Thank you so much for all you do for us! We appreciate all of your shopping and online meetings, videos, everything. We love your blog so much and appreciate your taking care of us with the experience and knowledge and friendship you generously share.
Please get good rest! We are so sorry for you to be worn out after two Wednesday filmings. I can’t imagine three zoom meetings afterwards! What a wonderful husband, to take care of you with dinner! I imagine he washed up afterwards, too.
So, please know that we are grateful for your long, hard work, which pays off in our reflecting and growing from your devotions and all that we gain in learning about and applying all the various aspects of dressing ourselves for our days!
Thank you Lisa. I’m getting some good rest at my parents’ home now. Even now they don’t let me lift a finger when I visit. I’m so glad you enjoy my videos and blog content. Bless you.
