How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

Happy Friday! Well it is now. I awoke this morning to a stream of emails indicating that someone had hacked my PayPal account. Argh! So I spent an hour or more rectifying that, the nasty buggah! But I think everything is zipped back up now, so let’s carry on and see how I really dressed for my day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.

What I Wore Last Friday

I always think I’m going to remember exactly what I did each day when I snap these photos and tuck them into a folder. Alas, I do not! Ha! But I do faintly recall being at Talbots in this outfit. Ah yes, I had to drop into my local Talbots to pick up a pair of jeans for an upcoming video.

I’m pretty sure I also treated myself to lunch while I was out. I generally do! Anyhow, I sure did enjoy wearing these deep cuff jeans with my silk leopard print shirt (also here and here and here {for Bloomingdale’s power points}). I like the mixture of brown and soft beige accessories here. I opted not to wear brown shoes because they just weighed the look down. You may remember from this blog post and this video that I recommend keeping your footwear “light” with these deep cuff jeans. The cuffs already bring a lot of focus to the bottom of your outfit, so wearing light colored and/or low profile footwear can help to rectify that a bit.

An Outfit for Saturday

Saturday we recorded this week’s YouTube video, but afterwards I slipped into these super comfortable but chic pants and a favorite denim shirt.

I probably actually wore my house slippers for most of the day. But I love how these Pima cotton and premium modal pants look so polished but feel so effortless and comfortable. This is one of my favorite work-from-home outfits for this time of year.

What I Wore to Church

It was definitely warming up Sunday, but I bullishly donned my suede blazer all the same. I’d been chomping at the bit to wear it. I purchased it last fall and wore it every time I possibly could through the winter. I’ll have this jacket in my closet forever, but I’m so glad suede is especially trending again this fall.

This year they have the same jacket in a beautiful green cypress. For reference I wear a size 10 in this Veronica Beard blazer, whereas I size down to an 8 in their Miller dickey jackets. I wore the jacket with my black jeans and a cashmere tee. And I accessorized with camel ballet flats and tote. You can use code KAY15 at M.Gemi for 15% off those flats and everything else.

What I Wore Monday

Monday I worked from home most of the day, but I did have to step out for a nail appointment. The temps were high, but I felt comfortable and a little fall-ish in my button-front shirt and trouser jeans.

Here I accessorized with three camel leather pieces. I love how this look came together. I’ve been wearing those Brochu Walker button-front shirts with the styled sleeves on repeat for early fall. They’ve just been the perfect transition season staple. I wear my true size medium in this one, but I have the large in the white. They both work very nicely, but the white has a slightly more oversized look.

Another Work From Home Outfit

Tuesday we shot more videos, but afterward I changed into another comfortable but polished work from home outfit. I’d worn the Talbots denim shirt in the video recorded (for next Wednesday), so I just added my drawstring pants from J.Crew, which are no longer available.

Trust me, I do occasionally just stay in my pajamas to work at my desk. But I work so much smarter when I’m dressed for my day.

What I Ended Up In Wednesday

Since we’re getting ready to head out on a little vacation to the Adirondack Mountains, I’ve been furiously recording videos, editing them, taking photos and sorting through clothes. Wednesday was one of those days when I never really got dressed for the day, but I was dressed all day. Ha!

blazer // top c/o // jeans c/o // loafers (c/o)

The last thing I ended up in for work and dinner was these Quince jeans and loafers (we’d recorded a Quince video) and this beautiful lacy pullover and army green with a coordinating jacket, both from Rag & Bone. I’d received the Rag & Bone lacy pullover that afternoon, along with these jeans, and I loved it so much when I tried it on, so I just kept it on. That happens a lot! Oh, and yes, I did love the jeans, too, but decided to save them for my trip.

I did indeed get dressed for my day yesterday, but once again I was in and out of outfits all day as we loaded up on photos and I began packing for my trip. So I never managed to get a photo of what I wore to dinner. Thanks so much for dropping in today. I hope you have a great Friday!

Blessed for My Day

Have you ever heard – maybe from the pulpit or a Bible study teacher – that we need to see our satisfaction in life from the Lord? Maybe you’ve heard it said that nothing can satisfy our souls the way Jesus can. While I always believed in my heart that was true, I did come to a point in my life where I questioned how that could be. How could I be totally satisfied from a relationship where I couldn’t even see Jesus or reach out and touch Him? I couldn’t hear His reassuring voice or take a walk in His physical company, so how could He satisfy my longings?

With prayer and searching the Bible for answers to those questions, I learned that I can be satisfied through my relationship with Jesus by “eating” His Word. When I daily read, regularly meditate on, choose to believe and obey, and daily remind myself of the scriptures, He does indeed satisfy my deepest needs for significance, purpose, love and security. God’s Word is a live and active. And when we “digest it” we’ll discovered that it satisfies our souls like nothing else.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. ~ Isaiah 55:10-11

  1. Hmmm… This is a tough one Kay! I usually like to pick out my favorite, but it’s a tough choice today because I’m loving all your early fall looks!!! Nice compilation!
But if you twisted my arm, I’d probably say the short sleeve leopard print top and jeans, and the suede jacket look!
    They’re all adorable!
    Have a good day!

  2. You look great in all of your outfits! I especially like the jacket and sweater and jeans outfit- so fall looking. How are the Quince jeans? Do they run small or large or stretch out? I really like the color of those jeans.

How you have a wonderful trip. Please let us know what you pack for it.

    1. Thank you. I did size up in the Quince jeans for a nice fit. They have some stretch but do not stretch out with wear. Comfortable high waist fit.
