How I Really Dressed for My Day This Week

I’m a firm believer in putting at least a little effort into your appearance each day, even if you’re just home and doing nothing much. Changing out of sleepwear and into something coordinated makes me feel more competent and helps me to engage with others, even if it’s just my husband. Getting dressed for my day boosts my spirits and helps me to be more productive, too. To that end I like to employ a little accountability and share my daily outfits on Friday. So let’s check out how I really dressed for my day this week.

How to Shop Here: To shop the items I feature, just click on the words in the captions of photos, the highlighted words in my text or the images in the shopping widgets I sometimes include. When you shop through my links I potentially earn a commission on your purchases, but at no additional cost to you. Thank you so much for supporting my work here by shopping my links. Items that have been gifted to me by the associated brand are indicated with “c/o”.

I like to focus on why I wore what I wore and how I put my looks together in these weekly posts. So I may not call out each item shown. You’ll find links to anything that is available in the captions under the photos. I’ll also share fit information there IF the garment doesn’t fit true to size (TTS). I try to be transparent about gifting; gifted items are indicated with a C/O beside them, meaning they were given to me “courtesy of” that brand. Finally, I’m 5’8″ and about 160 pounds, so I normally wear a misses 10. I have even proportions and an hourglass shape.

What I Wore Friday

Last Friday we were blessed with a warm-ish day. I think I mostly worked from my home office that day, but I also got out to run some errands at some point. I enjoyed wearing my new athleisure separates from Athleta.

I’m so excited to wear these track pants with the stripe down the side this spring. I love green; it lifts my spirits and reminds me that spring is on the way. This outfit is a simple reminder to us all that getting dressed stylishly for our day doesn’t have to be anything fancy or complicated. We can still feel comfortable and dress appropriately for our casual lifestyle.

How I Dressed for My Day Saturday

Saturday I caught up on housework after a walk through the neighborhood and a good leg day workout. Oh! I remember now that I had pancakes for my leg day treat. I’m on the FASTer Way to Fat Loss again, and on Saturdays when I do my strength training workout focused on legs, I get to have one treat. I still have to work it into my macro plan for the day, so it’s not a “cheat day,” just a treat. Usually I have a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit from McDonald’s, but Saturday I had a hankering for pancakes. Ha!

Well I don’t know why I went down that rabbit hole! (Maybe I’ll have pancakes again tomorrow…) Let’s move on to what I wore. I had also gotten in these Athleta joggers made with a cozy but polished looking Flex Fleece fabric. LOVE. I wore them with my fleece lined funnel neck sweatshirt and Tretorn sneakers. I just think green and white look so fresh together.

Sunday I Wore…my favorite outfit of the week

Sunday morning we had church and a birthday party to attend. It was a cold but sunny day, so I wanted to wear a dress and boots. The last time I wore this pretty black sweater dress I had to wear them with brown boots because I didn’t have any black ones. But meanwhile I had gotten in the black Ally boots (C/O), so I was anxious to put this outfit together.

I opted to wear these sheer black tights to break up the black a little while still keeping the outfit monochromatic. I loved the effect. When I went out, I topped my dress with my grey wool coat for a little contrast. Since the dress has bright gold buttons at the bottom, I wanted to add some significant doses of gold near my face, bringing the focus up. So I wore my gold link necklace and chunky gold hoop earrings. I love the way this came together and hope I get to wear it again before it gets too warm.

Work from Home Outfit

I’ve got to get out and go somewhere today. I’ve been home the entire week, hunkered down at the computer for most of it. Monday was just a work day in my office, but I did put on a cheerful green cashmere sweater with some straight leg ankle jeans.

It was still on the warm side on this day, so I was able to wear this early spring look comfortably. I think we’re seeing that I have a thing for green! Indeed, it is one of the colors that cheers me up. But this lightweight cashmere sweater does come in other hues, too.

Another Work Day

Tuesday we shot videos and photos, so I never really wore just one outfit for long. And you’ll see what I did wear in blog posts and the video next week. So we’ll skip to what I wore on Wednesday to work from home. I gave myself a bit of a break and wore my Lake lounge set in soft grey.

I’ve absolutely loved having several coordinating loungewear sets this winter. They’re so cozy and comfortable, but I still feel put together and nicely dressed in them. I try to take the time to at least put on earrings if nothing else. And on this day I even wore a little makeup and a necklace. I wear a large in the lounge set, per the size chart on the website.

What I Wore Thursday for a Zoom Coffee Date

Thursday I had several deadlines to meet, so I worked hard. But I had scheduled a video conference call with a couple of blogger friends in the afternoon, too. This job is so fulfilling, but it can feel very lonely, too. And since we’re all sort of pioneers in a new industry, it’s easy to start second-guessing yourself and feeling like no one else quite gets what you’re doing. I’m so glad I’ve got friends – even if they are all over the country – who do what I do and that I can text and get on a call with occasionally. Anyhow, that call was a little impetus to get do my makeup and get dressed in something pretty.

My hair… I had heard that castor oil can help make your scalp healthier and potentially promote hair growth. So I got the hairbrained idea Wednesday afternoon to apply some to my scalp. Well that obviously left me with a mess. Ha! Have you ever applied castor oil to your scalp? How and when do you do it? If you have intel, please share in the comments. My greasy bangs look ridiculous. But I’ve taken care of that today. Hehehe!

Oh, and those jeans are now officially too big. I guess I’ve actually gone down a size…at least in some things. Yay! Good thing I recently purchased the same jeans but in a new more medium Lark wash in a smaller size. I love them!

That’s a wrap! Thanks so much for stopping in. I hope you have a great weekend.

Blessed for My Day

In the early weeks of this new year I’ve been pretty successful with some new habits. I’m eating more protein and lifting heavier weights to build more muscle. I’m back to intermittent fasting, so I’m only eating during an 8 hour window. I’m getting in daily walks and going to bed a little earlier. And I’m using my dry brush to help improve circulation and reduce inflammation. The best part? I’m getting good results already and that little bit of success is propelling me forward.

But there is nothing I do in my daily routines that benefits me more than spending the first thirty minutes of my morning in the Bible. Reading the Bible daily, systematically, is unequivocally the most important habit in my life that has produced the most results. Spending time in God’s Word restores my soul, makes me wiser, lifts my spirits, gives me perspective and satisfies my yearnings like nothing else. If you want to make one impactful change in your life, I highly recommend starting your day by reading just a little bit of the Bible.

The Law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether.
They are more desirable than gold, yes, than much pure gold;
Sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb.
Moreover, Your servant is warned by them;
In keeping them there is great reward.
Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults.
Also keep Your servant back from presumptuous sins;
Let them not rule over me;
Then I will be innocent,
And I will be blameless of great wrongdoing.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. ~ Psalm 19:7-14
